This sounds quite bad but for me I have no issue with my own parents and sister coming to visit the second the baby is here lol but I don't want to see the mil at all for a few days. Can't really say to my partner tho that I'm happy for my family to be there asap and not his haha. I like his family as well but I just feel like I'll have just had the baby so want the people im closest to there if that makes sense.

iratepirate · 01/10/2022 08:51

I think that the best part of the pandemic was the “no visitors” rule at the hospital.
Made things very easy for us. We got home and settled and called everyone the following day to let them know.

muminlndn · 01/10/2022 11:08

Visiting really doesn't have to be equal - and you are fully in your right to place different boundaries for different people depending on what makes you comfortable.
It's likely that while you're happy for your mum/sister to be around you while feeling vulnerable, other people (including in-laws or any other family you're not as close to) would be better suited to a flying visit to smile at the baby and drop off a gift.
I think if you and your partner can agree on which visitors get which type of visit it will make it easier - then if someone visits and seems like they're overstaying their welcome you're both on the same page and your partner can step in and say 'well thanks for coming it was lovely to see you, I'm afraid it's feeding/nap/something else time now', even if it's their own mum.

Perexi · 01/10/2022 15:09

We haven't even thought about visits and social media yet! We live about 45mins -1 hour from both set's of relative's so they would hopefully wait to be invited over!

I had my 12 week scan 10 day's ago and still haven't heard back about the DS risk etc. I was told that I would have a letter in 4-5 days did anyone else have a longer wait? I'm trying to keep in mind that if it was bad news I would probably know already? I'm 40 though and it's my first so a bit nervous 😂

TeddyBeans · 01/10/2022 15:17

@Perexi I think my combined screening results took about 3 weeks to turn up. I figured if they found something they would have called and when it did turn up all results were low risk so all good

OP posts:
iratepirate · 01/10/2022 15:20

I had bloods done for a quad test on Monday @Perexi and they said they would only call with results if it were bad news. If all was well, the results will just be added to my app at some point.
So I wouldn’t worry too much if you don’t hear quickly.

Perexi · 01/10/2022 15:38

Ok cool, that's good to know!

I figured that I would or should have had a call by now if high risk sometimes it's easy to overthink these things though!

Perexi · 01/10/2022 15:39

Thanks @TeddyBeans and @iratepirate

TeddyBeans · 01/10/2022 15:48

Oh definitely easy to overthink! I think we'll all be guilty of that at some point during our pregnancies 😊

I swear my cravings are through the roof this week! Constantly thinking about food (mainly takeaways)😩anyone else starving all the time or craving bad things? Lol I'm currently fighting my partner for his Pringles.

muminlndn · 01/10/2022 20:03

@Katlouise24 yes!! I'm 16 weeks today and the past couple of days I've felt nauseous/had a really uncomfortable stomach and I've just realised it's actually hunger - my body must be needing more now! And it needs to be very carby!
I'm definitely in that phase where I'll go out of my way to get a particular meal I'm craving. Earlier this week I used my lunch break to go buy tomato soup & crusty bread, today I went to the shops just for sausages and potatoes because I set my heart on sausage & mash after looking in the cupboard and seeing gravy granules.

Any good snack ideas are welcome! Or maybe I just need to start having 4 meals

Katlouise24 · 01/10/2022 20:06

@muminlndn earlier I had a plate of Yorkshire puddings and a bowl of gravy!? My brain just couldn't get it out of my head all day so I had it and I must say it was great!😂need to go out to get more Yorkshire puddings for Sunday lunch tomorrow now though! Oops!

I have no snack ideas, so if anyone would like to give me some also, I'd appreciate them lol!

When did your cravings start? Im nearly 17 weeks and still had no cravings. In fact I’m eating less than pre pregnancy. I get full so quickly. With my son I craved really unhealthy things constantly. I’m having a boy again this time so don’t think it’s gender related but 0 appetite 😩 x

Katlouise24 · 01/10/2022 20:52

@Blondewave I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and my cravings started pretty early, I'd say around 8/9 weeks but they've definitely become stronger as time goes on! This is my first baby and im having a girl! However, I've had really bad sickness and still get really nauseous so the cravings and sickness balance out!x

Ubbee · 01/10/2022 22:09

@Blondewave it may not be a lie, I understand that a lot of people are genuinely confused, but that doesn’t make it true.
The document you’ve shared is out of date (PRIOR to the collection of data in relation to pregnancy, and the wasn’t reporting any concerns, only being clear about the lack of data at that time). The first link I shared addresses this confusion and the rumours surrounding it: fullfact.org/health/pregnancy-advice-covid-vaccine-change/

That’s incorrect / if you search for that paper with the title I’ve posted it’s still there and was updated in September 2022 (the date of update is at the top) states the same. There is a lot of misinformation out there.
it doesn’t take a genius tho or a paper to work out that a vaccine that has no long term data ‘might’ not be 100% safe. Anyway. I don’t want a Covid debate. There is another side to every argument. Doesn’t necessarily mean one particular side is right. Do what’s right for you and let other people do what’s right for them on the information and personal knowledge they have 🙏

Ubbee · 01/10/2022 22:14

Katlouise24 · 30/09/2022 20:51

@havanamama the boundaries we have are no visitors the day we bring baby home as I think I'd like time to rest! And also we'd like people to ask before uploading photos of baby to social media as we're not sure who will be able to access those pictures and see baby! My mother in law hates both of these and has had a huge reaction to them and apparently I'm being unfair :(

@Katlouise24 good for you! Sorry your in laws sound so difficult on this.
I really regretted letting family from further afield visit even in the first week last time, as they’d travelled they stayed for far too long. That said I was so grateful to have my mum and sister come and see us in hospital as I had to spend a few nights in recovery, and we really needed extra supplies bringing in! It’s so hard to plan for everything that might happen, but whatever it is it should be yours and your partners choice!

Ubbee · 01/10/2022 22:20

@Blondewave I’ve not told anyone what to do. A previous poster asked what other people thought so I shared my thoughts and tried to clarify something that has confused a lot of people.
All I’m saying is that all of the data is consistent and all that of the relevant bodies recommend the jab in pregnancy. People are free to make their own choice and they deserve to do so based on best data available, not outdated information.

LaForza101 · 02/10/2022 02:53

Also not wanting a COVID bun fight but the Summary of the Public Assessment Report for COVID-19 Pfizer BioNTech above clearly states at the top that the info is outdated. I think it makes more sense to look at the SmPC (summary of product characteristics) for the bivalent Moderna vaccine that is on offer for most up-to-date information.

Statement at the top of the report: The Public Assessment Report summarises the initial assessment at the time of approval in December 2020. The text in the original report remains unchanged.

Our advice is regularly updated on the basis of significant new data and our latest advice can be found in the Summary of Product Characteristics and the Summary of Coronavirus Yellow Card reporting.

what’s everyone’s thoughts/advice/experience on feeling movement? I’m 18 weeks and FTM so really not sure that I’m feeling anything. I thought I was, thought I felt a little flutter about a week ago but now I’m doubting myself because I’m not sure I have felt anything since.
Is this normal? Could I be not feeling baby as it’s too early or could I be feeling baby but thinking it’s some other bodily function?! It’s such a confusing time….bring on the 20 week scan!

iratepirate · 02/10/2022 08:30

@Clarps84 it could be movement but I think it’s usually later on before you feel proper kicks. I’ve only felt a few odd flutters so far. I know that the placenta position could have an effect too.

TeddyBeans · 02/10/2022 08:31

@Clarps84 first time round I got a headbutt at 17 weeks and then nothing consistent until 21-22 weeks. I was hoping to feel movements coinciding with the movements on the screen at my 20 week scan but sadly it didn't happen. Once DS started moving properly it was very easy to feel him, there was no denying it was baby

I’m a bit torn about the covid booster tbh.
I know that it’s not possible to choose and it’s whatever is on offer, but I reacted so badly to my Moderna one last time that I would have to decline if it’s that one, even though I agree with the vaccine (had all the ones on offer so far).

I had no issues at all with my first two (Pfizer) so would have that one.

I’m going to try and talk to someone about it when I book in for the flu and whooping cough ones. I don’t know whether that’s done through GP. I wouldn’t want to book it and then decline at last minute, in case it takes someone else’s chance away.

iratepirate · 02/10/2022 08:35

Also still no cravings here.

Previously I’ve had them around 12 weeks (fresh orange juice was my main one) and red apples.

Also have no appetite at the moment either.
