@havanamama It is a bit different to being awake for a few minutes every 3 hours I'm afraid...
In the beginning, when they wake hungry every 3 hours that's 3 hours from the beginning of the feed to the next one. Feeding, nappy changing, burping, resetting can take up to an hour 😬 You get 2 hours of sleep for every 3 hours in bed. They do speed up feeding and you can start skipping nappy changes and eventually skip burping though!

I've got a pregnancy massage booked for 12.30. Had one with DS and I'm so looking forward to it ❤️ if you need a reason to relax or you're struggling to sleep I thoroughly recommend having one. Pretty sure I snored my way through the entire two hours last time 🤣 this one's only an hour but I'll be having a two hour one around Christmas time!

What do you get massaged during a pregnancy massage? I’ve read about not getting stomach or legs massaged in pregnancy (I believe legs due to the risk of moving a potential blood clot etc..) but I don’t know if it’s specific to a particular trimester or anything. Any advice or info on what is actually safe etc would be fab as I’d love a massage at some point! Obviously the internet is full of dos and don’ts and plenty of contradicting “advice” but hoping you may know if you’ve had one before and having again lol

@Blondewave (and anybody else who's interested) our scan today was lovely and we found out we're having a girl!
The nubtechs were right.
As was sneak peek 🙈

So lovely to see our little one again though, so worth triple checking!
Had a 4D sneak peek included...not sure how I feel about those!

They refused to massage me first trimester but happy to do everything in the second. The massage I had was back, legs, arms, feet and neck. It was glorious 🥰 going for another one next month! There's a 2 hour one too that includes a foot soak and scrub too. Different places will have different policies though I think so best check with the parlours around you. I don't tend to read up on research stuff before I do it so risks aren't really my forte. Feels good so I do it!

Hi all, hope everyone is ok!!
Question.. with the rumoured funeral of the Queen due to take place on the 19th and this becoming a BH. What will happen with midwife appointments/scans?

havanamama · 10/09/2022 17:54

Does the pregnancy massage table have a hole for the belly as it would for face?

Nope, you lay on your side and roll over when it's time to do the other side 😊

Mine first scan is on the 19th I'm guessing it's not going to happen then now but I think I'm going to call them on Monday and check. I'm getting a bit nervous about it and would prefer them to move it forwards to this week if possible rather than delay it.

firstlittleone · 10/09/2022 21:35

@Perexi that was my thought.. my hospital only scans Monday and Thursday from what I remember when booking this scan they were fully booked this coming week so chance to bring mine forward😭

Yeah I'm not too confident I will be able to either but want to try! I really want to be able to tell our family's soon as I hate hiding it but want to make sure all is ok first.

dmb91 · 10/09/2022 22:16

Do they book your 20 week scan when you have your 12 week scan?

XjustagirlX · 10/09/2022 22:45

@dmb91 yes my 20 week scan was booked at my 12 week scan

hol92 · 11/09/2022 06:41

So my anxiety has gotten quite bad over the last week, I don’t know if it’s because I have my scan Friday and I’m so nervous about it. I used to weight train and it really helped with it but stopped when I was pregnant because I felt too sick, I’m thinking of starting up again obviously with light weights but then I’m worried about doing it and it doing harm :( I don’t know if I’m now just over anxious and now worried to exercise but I know it helps so much! X

LittleAcorn20 · 11/09/2022 07:42

@hol92 my friend weight trained through her pregnancy as that was her usual exercise. She lifted the same in pregnancy as what she would before.

The normal advice from midwifes/GPs is that you're ok to keep up a level/type of exercise you were used to before (if you feel like doing it, and listen to your body/take things gradually to begin).

I think though, with any exercise that you are meant to speak with your doctor or midwife first because that advice is general and if you have any elements of high risk in your pregnancy that you know of then they may like to suggest something different.

I am not one for exercise at all, but in my last pregnancy I did antenatal yoga and will start it again in a couple of weeks. I can really recommend that for anxiety, it's calming and gentle and you get to meet and chat to other mums to be ☺️

Marfs10 · 11/09/2022 07:46

I’ve been very much lurking on this thread but it’s all very helpful and I’m grateful you’re all willing to share your experiences, especially regarding feeding/ sleeping! There’s so much to think about!

@hol92 the official advice for exercise in pregnancy is not to increase your level of exertion beyond what you were doing pre-pregnancy. If you feel able to continue your exercise, go for it! Avoid ‘bumping the bump’ and as you go on you may have to adapt positions to avoid lying on your back or twisting your mid-section, but some light weights sound like a great idea - physically and mentally! X

Marfs10 · 11/09/2022 07:47

@hol92 in many gyms I’ve been to, there have been gym instructors trained in prenatal exercise, maybe try and find one to guide you a bit?
