Caved in and booked a private gender scan for when I'm 16w5d, just a little bit excited. Hope baby cooperates 🤭🤭

I’ve done this too after saying I wouldn’t find out 😂 also sent my 12 week scan pics to nub experts. I’m so impatient 😂 my son is convinced he’s having a little sister and keeps referring to his new sister 😨 we’ll see soon enough if he’s psychic or not haha x

I just had my 12 week scan and they told me I am 10+6 along and my 12 week scan was rebooked for in 2 weeks. I feel upset about my pregnancy being longer (I know this is nonsense) and need to get my head to a place where I am pleased I will get to see the little one again soon. But right now I am stupidly annoyed.

Oh no feel for you. Are you feeling sick too? I’m just counting down I’m 13 weeks now and still feeling sick and feel like last 6 weeks has been forever 😩. I had the opposite and was a week ahead than what I thought...which was weird as I have periods every 28 days religiously. Conception is strange but magical.

Babynum2 · 07/09/2022 11:38

Ive had the worst sickness but as soon as i hit 14 weeks its really got better and im eating a lot more which i think helps! Eating little and often drinking lots of water and getting rest has helped me.

XjustagirlX · 07/09/2022 11:47

@Bobduncan me too. I’ve had nausea up to 12 weeks but was only sick once. Completely manageable. on exactly 12 weeks I started with full on being sick multiple times a day. I really can’t cope with this.

i really thought my mild nausea would go around 12 weeks not get 10x worse!

LittleAcorn20 · 07/09/2022 13:08

@Blondewave my daughter only ever says "the baby is my brother" as well and I think maybe she is psychic. I am not finding out til birth so a long while to wait, so I'll be interested to know if your son is psychic if it works like that

alotoftutus · 07/09/2022 17:29

Hey. I went to have blood test today. Decided it was the best place to start. I honestly couldn’t have been treated any better. The midwife met me at the door and took me into a private room to have a chat (cry). She was so caring and understanding and lovely. The hospital I’m under gets a bit of a bad rep locally and they can be really sh*t, but when it’s needed they really do pull it out the bag. It’s the same hospital I had my eldest and where he spent time in special care so I’ve seen a few departments now. She stayed with me when I had my bloods and was really supportive which made today all the more bearable. She said that my results also flagged up that I have a low Papp A hormone which along with my age (38) is what has more than likely given me the high risk result. Apparently a low amount of the hormone can mean Down’s syndrome is present, but it can also mean my placenta is a bit rubbish and it’s the reason most women have premature or low birth weight babies. When I mentioned DS1 was early and low birth weight she brought up my notes from 2012 and apparently I had the same issue then but wasn’t told 😡 it didn’t flag up as high risk as I was 27 and my age would have kept the overall risk levels down. She said I’m more likely to have this hormone issue because I’ve had it before. This was positive as although she obviously can’t guarantee the baby hasn’t got Down’s syndrome, it would give a reason if all’s well as to why I got such a high risk result with a completely normal NT measurement. I’m trying not to clutch at straws or get my hopes up as 1:6 is still very high but it does give me a little hope to get through the next two weeks until the results come in.

I just feel so mentally exhausted.

Blondewave · 07/09/2022 17:45

Exciting! Mine is on Saturday! (Due late Feb, but it's my first so I hedged my bets on the Feb and March boards!)

TeddyBeans · 07/09/2022 18:02

Oh @alotoftutus that sounds like it could be more positive than you were fearing!? How long til you get the results of the blood test? I don't know much about Papp-A (gonna Google) but if that's the issue, you'll get extra scans to keep an eye on their growth right? That should be reassuring. Hopefully it's all good news from here on our for you lovely ❤️

@botleybump I was 1st march, now 26th Feb 😂 baby can't make up it's mind!

I did a similar jump early on at my private scan, and then gained another two days at my NHS scan!

allthingssparkly · 07/09/2022 18:12

Good luck for Sat @TeddyBeans and @botleybump are you going to let us know the genders? 😊😊

I will indeed. I'll also confirm whether the nubtechs were right!

ToffeeEl · 07/09/2022 18:14

@alotoftutus sounds like a really positive day to have with the midwife considering the circumstances, and that it's helped you somewhat, plenty of info to be hopeful about x.
I know it's difficult but try to get rest and look after yourself as best you can x

If I only learn one thing from pregnancy it's that you can do everything possible 'right' and ultimately there's so much out of our hands

Hopingforarainbow27 · 07/09/2022 18:21

Has anyone considered buying a Doppler? I'm looking them up on Amazon but not sure what to do!

LittleAcorn20 · 07/09/2022 18:30

@alotoftutus I'm SO pleased you were looked after so well today! There are some absolutely gems of human beings working in our NHS ☺️💎
More knowledge gained too and it sounds there's a little glimmer of positivity and hope 🤞
Sending you lots of strength and my thoughts while you wait for the next lot of results 🫂

LittleAcorn20 · 07/09/2022 18:35

Regarding nausea chat... 14+5 and had a terrible day with it. Was sick this morning and wondering when it is going to ease up.

EMcG3 · 07/09/2022 18:38

@muminlndn , @Blondewave - yeah, it's all fine ,it is just dragging out an unpleasant first trimester. I'm v nasious and feel like rubbish. Roll on 12 weeks for the second time!

laurenfeelingsick · 07/09/2022 18:39

@LittleAcorn20
I'm so fed up now with the n+v. I just can't see an end in sight. So so miserable

Flowerfan35 · 07/09/2022 18:45

@alotoftutus that all sounds as positive as it can be. Really naughty of them that they didn't tell you last time though. Hope it's good news soon.

I'm 12+6 and have definitely been hit by some waves of nausea this week, which is weird as haven't much since week 8. Hoping it will pass as its put me right off a few of my favourite things lol.

TeddyBeans · 07/09/2022 21:34

@allthingssparkly @botleybump I'll definitely be sharing! I can't keep things like that to myself, it's too exciting
