Morning all

Dex did another stupendous sleep... had to wake him up to feed him and take DC to school. Fingers crossed this is a pattern he is going to stick to.

Fettle- hope Toby is ok with the jabs... Dex has got his 2nd lot next week. What is the third injection for? Did they do the polio one in his mouth yet? Dex only had 2 jabs first time around. That Messiah was a bit gruesome!

mrs- any action overnight?

Seaside and Iampg- a lot of the lovely ladies on here were early- Bodders you were 38 wks, i think??

Sorry- so excited about the pending births that I cant remember what I was going to say to anyone else!

I think my son's hamster is dying . It was shaking and it's eyes wouldnt open. I gave it some water and apple, but it didnt seem interested. Has gone in it's bed now... I rang the vet and they said it was probably dying and I could bring it in to help it on its way . Think i will leave it until I get DS1 from school. .

Oh, Honeyapple - that's not a nice thing to have to go through. Hope your DS took it OK when he got back from school.

Cute pics of Dex by the way - lovely dimples!

Greedy - that sounds very traumatic for your poor sis. I really hope this doesn't put an end to her TTC, but I guess it will take a while before she may be able to face going through it again. Must be a very difficult position for you to be in as well... sometimes life really deals out some crushing blows

cityangel · 08/03/2008 01:26

honeyapple how worrying about the hamster, I hope it works out.

I feel really bad about posting given Greedy's difficult circumstances... so i will [whisper] that my 20wk scan went ok today.

I hope everyone's weekends go as well as possible.

greedygreedyguzzler · 08/03/2008 11:23

dont be daft cityangel! fantastic news about your scan. i CANNOT believe you are so far gone already.......can you feel any movements yet? i think i didnt feel anything till about 22 weeks first time, but i think that was late.

poor hamster honey, and poor ds. how did he take it? dont think i could do pets cos i wouldnt be able to cope when thhey died. im not going to tell you my RL name! hee hee hee! i am going to watch you squirm when we met and i say " hello HANNAH, nice to meet you!"

my ds asked why my sis was in hospital...............i said she had tummy ache and they had to do an operation on her..........................DUR!!!!!! ...............i had forgotten that the school had phoned me earlier on friday and said ds had tummy ache..........so i had a sudden panic that he would think he needed an operation everytime his tummy hurt.......................so quickly changed it to " its very grown up and too difficult to explain, i will tell you when you are bigger"...................so then he said " i dont mind if its hard to explain i will really listen and try to understand".............................so i cunningly changed the subject..........but i know next time he sees her he will mention it and bombard her with questions.

anyway, better go, cos i am off to see her now.

have good weekends all.

iamamummy · 08/03/2008 17:47

hi ladies

greedy - so sorry to hear that your sister is going through such a horrific ordeal at the moment you sound like you are doing all you possibly can for her. i cant add anything to what fettle said but i would just say that when i mc a few people told me how "super fertile" you are supposed to be after miscarriage and needless to say as the months went on and on and nothing happened it worried me even more that i hadnt conceived, it kind of gives you false hope (well in my case it did) that you will fall again immediately and i just think that if she is ready to ttc right away its a thought she might be able to do without. she will get pregnant again if/when she wants to, it took me and df a whole year of going at it hammer and tong. sending you both love xx

honey - no fear i shall NOT be messing with oscars foreskin anymore infact it wasnt me that did it in the first place, df didnt pull it right back just moved it a mm to see if it did move but anyway we are seein the consultant on tuesday. i think its normal the skin seems to have grown accordingly anyhow. sorry about the little hamster i hope your ds takes it ok poor little man.

city - so pleased your scan went well - posting any pics? you pregnancy seems to be flying by! any inclination of what you are having?

rainbowdays - i hope your contractions have eased off and you are putting your feet up for these last few weeks.

mrs - i hope xavier is settling down a bit now for you, still cant wait to hear about your birth

seaside - baby yoga sounds fun! me and oscar are off to baby massage next week i cant wait!

big hellos to everyone else.

Oscar has been playing up something rotten today constant crying and in general just will not settle, i hope things improve and he is not coming down with something.

i have added some new pics to my profile

bye xxxxx

rainbowdays · 08/03/2008 19:50

Cityangel - congrats on having a good 20 weeks scan, that is great news.

Greedy - sorry to hear about your sister, mc's are difficult no matter what how or when they happen. Women cope in different ways, some it will take longer to get over than others. I was surprised when last sunday I got teary-eyed because it was the due date of the baby that I lost. I think that remembering the due date of your sisters mc is important, so that you can be sensitive to her at that time.

Sorry this is just a quick message to let you all know that I am busy back home. Loving being with my family again in my own house. Starting to prepare everything for the arrival of Jak in a few weeks time.

Chooster · 08/03/2008 20:36

Oh Greedy I am so so sorry to hear about your sis - I feel so bad for her, like you say if only they had scanned her earlier and then she would not have had to go through more weeks of excitement and things like the booking in appt. I remember that was so hard when I lost my little boy as I had to phone them up to say that there was a problem and eventually that I wasn't going to be pregnant for much longer. Good advice (as always) from fettle. I'm just so gutted for her, I really am...

Not much time to post properly but only to say lovely pics honeyapple and Iamamummy and a big 'yippee' to cityangel for hitting the 20wk mark and having a good scan. It must all be feeling so real now eh .

We are at my mums for the weekend and having a great time and my DS1 has been swimming for the first time on his own which I am so pleased about!

Anyway better go as DH is upstairs with my mum and dad watching Ant and Dec so he wont be best pleased if I'm here for ages

Love to all xx

honeyapple · 08/03/2008 22:45

Evening all

Thanks for thinking of DS1 and his hamster... but it has only gone and miraculously recovered! Got home from school- it looked pretty dead TBH...DS1 very sad- burst into tears... anyway, so we decided just to leave the hamster in peace in it's bed... this morning it was up and about- had some food- went to the loo (it is a very clever hamster and has a special pissing area attachment). DS1 had it out and it seemed fine... so VERY glad we didnt take it to the vet!

Greedy- you are cruel! Couldnt you give me a clue? what's your initial?

Cityangel- so happy your scan went well... did you find out the flavour?

LOL to everyone else

Evening all

hope you all had good weekends and you are all ready for this storm - particularly Scorpio, Seaside and Bodders! How is it with you Rainbowy - probably already with you, I imagine!

Anyway, all well here - had a good weekend. Toby really is such a lovely easy going baby - so happy amusing himself or smiling at other people and only really cries when he really needs something - generally food or trapped wind!

Greedy - How is your sister? When are they letting her out? Go easy on your brother-in-law - I'd imagine that he feels absolutely hopeless seeing your sister in so much pain and so weak. He really won't know what to do for the best - men are rubbish at this kind of thing! My DH just hated seeing me go through my ERCPs following my 1st mc - he just didn't know what to say or do and so consequently pretty much said and did exactly the wrong things! But then I was so irrationally emotional that he couldn't win either way! If she works in a baby room - make sure she is mentally ready to return to work - I wouldn't want her to return too early into that situation.

Honey - Dexter is gorgeous - never thought I'd say this, but he's almost better looking than my little Toby! And he is obviously the best looking boy in the world! Think it helps having so much hair! Pleased to hear that your hamster has risen from the dead - 2 weeks early for a Messiah type revival, but good all the same!! I'll tell you Greedy's name, if she won't! It has 5 letters in it though - I'll give you that as clue!

Rainbow - good to hear your happily settled and relaxed at home - have all the pains settled down now?

Iamamummy - Oscar is such a cutie as well! We really have managed to have a full set of extremely good looking babies on this thread! Not a Fugly one among them yet (Honey taught me that word!!!). You both settling into a nice routine together?

Cityangel - how did you quietly get to 20 weeks?! amazing how quickly the weeks are flying by at the moment - in fact scary! can't believer Toby is 6 months in 10 days time!

Chooster - hope you had a good weekend at your Mum's? hope all your boys are on tip-top form at the mo.

bigs waves to everyone else.

fettleandbabyfettle · 09/03/2008 20:08

Iammummy - I obviously mean you and Oscar settling into a routine together - not you and Honey as that would just be too weird!!!

Bodkin · 10/03/2008 11:51

Great news on your 20 week scan City - as everyone else has said it seems to be flying by, but I'm sure the last few weeks waiting for the scan have really dragged for you!

Honey - can't believe your DS's hamster! Agree with Fettle - your Dex is delicious, but then, all the bubs on here are cutie pies

Iamamummy - sorry to hear Oscar's been a bit unsettled. It;s hard work when they're howling all day and you can't work out what the problem is. Hope you're coping ok... I find biscuits and chocolate are very good at helping on those days

Am seriously considering trying to get Isla's sleeping back on track tonight - she seems to be into a pattern of 2 feeds a night at the moment - and then sometimes I can't settle her after the second one (usually at about 5 ish, so she's up for the day ) - it's supposed to get better, not worse! Mind you, have just returned from a weekend in Bristol with my 2 university friends who both have 2 kids, and one has a DD2 same age as my DD2, and although she is the most delightful and placid little thing in the day, feeds about every 1.5 - 2 hours ALL through the night! And she still packs the food away in the day, so I felt grateful for my 2 wakings a night!

honeyapple · 10/03/2008 13:08

thanks fettle and bodders Dex is a bonnie lad! And very jolly and happy- unless he is hungry... or as you say Fettle- needs to fart! But agree- definitely no fuglies on this thread .

Bodders- what's the plan of action with isla tonight then? Dex is still waking up a few times a night- but often he just wants a cuddle and I dont feed him... but he is still waking up [grr]. I think the more aware they get often the worse the sleeping gets... I mean Dex knows what he wants now- and that is to get in bed with me and DP!!

pretty windy and wet here- not looking forward to the school run... hope it stops raining for a bit.

OP posts:
greedygreedyguzzler · 10/03/2008 13:56

all this talk of photos , i just had to add one of our latest pics. i thought it was so funny.....but poor little marcy looks a bit shocked!!

Bodkin · 10/03/2008 20:08

Hahaha Greedy that is a classic! Can't believe how grown up she looks though!

Honey - I wish I knew what the plan is! Ideally, I'd like her to sleep through (fat chance) but failing that, to not feed until about 3am or later (like she used to be able to do) so that then her waking time would be a far more respectable 6.30/7am. I have tried to CIO (cry it out) twice now, once at 5 months and once at 7 months and both times it seemed to go well for the first couple of nights, then go downhill. The thing is though, on the days where she is up at 5am, she is such hard work and so miserable all day, even after naps. So I do think it would be for her own good, not just mine! DP groaned when I said I might leave her to cry a bit tonight - sod - it's not him that has to do all the hard work at night... grrr. And we've tried bringing her into bed with us... it's about the worst thing we can do, she just goes ballistic for some reason.

fettleandbabyfettle · 10/03/2008 20:47

Good luck tonight Bodders! Hope little Isla sleeps through though!!

Having said that my Toby was a happy little chappy yesterday - he's been really grumpy today. Think it a mixture of another cold coming on top of his smokers-cough that he can't shake, teething and exhaustion - he only really had one nap today this morning for a couple of hours - only managed a 30 min nap this afternoon, so he must have been tired. Hoping he sleeps better tonight. Have to say that I still think he is waking due to hunger, as he doesn't often cry, just moans/chats and will do so for hours on end until I go to him and then if he goes back in his cot awake after feeding he chats to himself for a short while then settles himself. But while i'm coping with the lack of sleep and I'm still losing weight, I'm going to stick with feeding him as much as I can!!

Must upload some recent photos of Toby, so you can tell me how gorgeous he is!.

Off to see a 4 week old tomorrow - as long as I decide Toby isn't coming down with something horrible. Be a good measure of how clucky I really am!!

Greedy - how your sister doing? Cute photo!

Honey - hope your school run was ok?

We seemed to escape the worst of it here, although we had a power cut this morning and yet again I was reminded how lucky I am to be breast-feeding. Boiling kettles, sterilising etc bottles would have been difficult without electricity!!

sleep well all
xxx

honeyapple · 11/03/2008 09:51

bodders- any success?? Dex woke up twice- but I managed to settle him without feeding (dummy worked) and then he woke about 6.45- fed him and he went back to sleep until 7.30- so pretty good.

Greedy- love the pic- what was she eating?

OP posts:
Bodkin · 11/03/2008 10:22

not too bad, honey.... she woke at 2am, i left her a bit, but she started sounding like father jack... "drink.... booob.... feck" so i fed her... she threw it back up [has a dodgy tum at the mo, but that's another story] but then went back to sleep until 6am. maybe i shall try a dummy... she doesn't suck it though, just plays with it... like she's doing right now while bouncing on my lap.....

her dodgy tum is grim.... everything is going straight through virtually undigested, even the milk... and talk about eggy... phew wot a stinker dunno what to do about it really, guess i'll just wait and see, but she's had it 3 days now.

Bodkin · 11/03/2008 10:24

ps... was thinking about MrsMc the other day... if you are lurking out there, hope you're OK and surviving these early months... come back soon, we miss you

honeyapple · 11/03/2008 11:41

Bodders- Isla's guts sound grim ... you should give her some natural yoghurt with live bacteria in it... also you can get probiotic stuff (funny long name- actophilidusisusuosudos ) from health food shop that is in a powder form to add to food. Used to give it to my DS1 cos he often had a dippy tum as a little boy. Might be worth taking her to GP if it continues cos she might have picked up something nasty.
Agree about Mrsmc- how old is Xavier now? I hope she does return to MN cos she was a real strong character among us- the thread is definitely missing her.

OP posts:
Chooster · 11/03/2008 12:24

Urgh, poor Isla Bodkin - and poor you having to do the clean up. You always seem to take it in your stride though . Max had something similar when he was younger and everything that came back up just looked the same as when it went down a couple of hours previously. Very odd . Mmmmm, so her sleep is taking a step back too huh?? Theo too if its any consolation. He was going pretty good there for a while and the last few nights have been back to waking 2 or 3 times. I normally feed once but last night I fed him a second time as he was wasn't settling and as he's quite mobile now he was all over his cot and banging his head against the sides . So I fed him and 3 mins into the boob he was fast asleep. The problem is today he is tired and has been a total whingebag - Grrr!!! So he's back in bed now. Just not sure what to do tonight, my DH is not that enthralled by crying it out either , bless him I think it must disturb him from his full 8 hours sleep - poor lamb .

We had a great weekend thanks ladies and Max was really into his swimming which was fantastic! Mum was on great form and that usually is such a big indicator on how relaxing the trip is . So all in all it was great . My little toothless Theo has moved on from his floor creep and now is into full on crawling - So, down comes the stairgate from the attic. Actually a quick Q - I was thinking of getting a couple of cot bumpers for theo's cot as he's like a spinning top in there when he wakes up and putting them down the sides - any reason why this isn't a good idea? I had a feeling there was an issue about kids getting their heads stuck in them or am I having a moment???

Amazing recovery from the hamster honey!! I bet DS1 was thrilled when he sprang back to life . Good sleeping from Dex! Dummy's are great things when they work. Theo is enjoying his at the moment but they always seem to get flung out the cot . Hope Isla takes to hers Bodders as that may be a trick to getting her off without feeding?

Great pic Greedy!!! She does look so grown up . How's your sis??

I've been in text touch with MrsMc and she seems fine - Xavier is off for 6 wk checks this week. I'll be popping to see her next week and will tell her she's missed . I'm sure she'll come back on when things settle down again... It can be quite over-whelming when the first little person comes along can't it .

Hi to everyone and good to hear from you Iamamummy - hope Oscar settles into a routine soon.

greedygreedyguzzler · 11/03/2008 14:42

hope all your little ones start sleeping better soon. i cant believe how relaxed and chilled you all seem with such disturbed sleep.................mind you, both my girls were little angels last night (they normally are!) and ellis woke up at 5.45am for some reason!!!! he was SUCH a grump this morning! he did that last tuesday as well for some reason!!! hes a bit like me when he doesnt get enough sleep.nor good!!!!

poor little lamb is having a real dilema at the moment.........there are 5 girls in his class who he wants to marry and he just cant decide which one to have first!!!

i had a few bad nights with marcy when she woke at 5am and had pooed and then once i had changed her she was so wide awake she wouldnt go back to sleep. BUT the past 2 mornings she hasnt pooed so has been sleeping till 7am again. SO i have figured out exactly what she had to eat yesterday and the day before and she is now going to have EXACTLY the same as that every day for the rest of her life..............or at least until she is potty trained!!!!..............do you think thats a bit mean?!!!

honey - what a clever hamster you have!!!! marcy was eating butternut squash and baby rice. she looks a bit freaky in that picture actually now i have looked at it again!

i miss you too mrs!!!

better go and get darling grumpy son from school....he had a sponsored bounce today so will be even tireder and grumpier than ever!...................at least i get to take kiki to ballet and my mum gets old grumps!

iamamummy · 11/03/2008 16:12

hello all

honey - so pleased your little hammy miraculously recovered!

bodkin - sorry to hear isla has a bad tummy thanks for the tip about chocolates and biscuits - my treat cupboard is now bare!

sorry to hear some of you are having some rough nights too i am just clinging on to the fact that things WILL get better no matter what i seem to do i cannot get oscar into a routine he just does different things and different times of day nothing is consistent! his bedtime varies from 8pm-1am and so does his waking times. any tips ladies? or am i just pushing things as he is still only 5 weeks tomorrow.

i took him to baby clinic for the first time today - he is a whopping 11 pounds now!! and was the only baby that didnt cry whilst being stripped off....i was so proud

greedy - i love marcys pic she looks gorgeous even if she is splattered with food!

Chooster · 11/03/2008 17:52

Hi - Well done non-crying Oscar!!! Things will settle Iamamummy, it just takes time. Some babies naturally fall into a routine quite quickly and for others it takes a wee bit longer. I'd say just try to relax about it and dont stress about forcing a routine just yet. It will come - 5 weeks is still very young.

How was grumpy pants then greedy in the end??? My Ds1 is also waking a stupidly early o'clock - Grrrrr!!!!!

fettleandbabyfettle · 11/03/2008 21:16

Hi all

Hope you are all well and happy!

Had an emotional day with a friend who's been dumped by yet another b***D man! Just don't know what to say to her - really worried about her state of mind, but won't bore you all with the details.

I miss Mrs too!

Where's Firsty as well? I'm worried about her, she's not posted in days, if not weeks?

Hoping for a better night tonight than last night - poor Toby was definitely unsettled by something yesterday. couldnh't settle him for 2 hours - eventually cuddled him to sleep and then he woke again at 3am, but then we had to wake him at 7am. DH is away again tonight, so hope DD sleeps through as well and is on tiptop form in the morning.

greedy - your DS having so many girls to chose from - make sure he treats them right!!!

Bodders- poor Isla and her tummy - agree with Honey, you should probably get her checked out if it goes on much longer - make sure she is getting enough fluids?

Iamamummy - I personally wouldn't worry about routine just now - just enjoy him! With both Toby and DD a routine developed around 3-4 months. Unless you are a real routine type person who needs to know exactly what is going to happen when, I would suggest going with the flow, otherwise you're in danger of missing these wonderful first few weeks worrying that you're not in a routine. Oscar will get there in his own time!

Chooster = not entirely sure about the deal with cot bumpers, but do know that they are not recommended. Something to do with either suffocation if pressed up against them , or tangling up in strings! However, so many people have them and they are so widely available that they can't be that bad! Toby too moves around his cot, but not quite at the head banging stage yet!. I do always find him underneath one of his rabbits though (can never remember if it is Rocky or Rambo though!).

Honey - how is the gorgeous Dex? how is the hamster bearing up?

Right, as DH is away I was going to have an early night, but not managed it yet!!

sleep well all
xxx

honeyapple · 11/03/2008 21:25

evening

chooster- i think the thing with cot bumpers is to make sure they are tied securely and no long strings dangling about- however, Theo may use them as a leg up- and clamber out of his cot..
glad to hear you have contact with mrs- hope she comes back to MN soon.

iam- agree with chooster- 5wks is early to be worrying about routines- dex still isnt in one! He sleeps and eats when he wants- however have been trying to give him lunch about the same time each day. I think by about 6mths he should have more of a proper self established routine ...

hamster is still alive- very weird- it looked SO ill on friday.

love to all x
