@Lmcc88 This is the problem with late growth scans, they often cause lots of panic unnecessarily. Sorry your going through this stress! How many weeks are you?
I had similar with my DD, they estimated she was over 8lbs5oz when I was 38 weeks -95th centile- and recommended induction at 40 weeks. I did lots of research and decided against it. I also had a GD test and it came back clear. When DD arrived at 41+6, nearly 4 weeks after the scan, she was 8lbs 8oz, and 59th centile. So it was very much wrong.
The risks associated with a bigger baby are generally if you have GD as well. And any other potential risks eg shoulder dystocia, a bad tear, etc are all also more likely if induced. Generally, our body will not grow a baby that is too big for us to birth. Baby's position is much more important than their size.
Just the fact they estimated small then big shows you how innacurate these scans can be ... They can be up to 20% off. Especially when done as one off, or only a couple, or with different sonographers. I have heard of SO many women being told similar and baby came out completely average. A friend recently got told her baby was 3rd centile and decided to have a c section, but he came out 30th centile.
The NICE guidelines do not recommend an induction for a big baby, if this is the only factor eg in absence of diabetes. Hospitals offer it to cover themselves but there is little evidence that it's a good idea. I'd recommend looking up Dr Sara Wickham's website she writes a lot about induction including for an estimated big baby and points to lots of research against it.
Ultimately you need to do what feels right - but as this basically happened to me, felt I'd share and try to reassure you too. If the placenta flow is all good, that's the key thing as baby's size can only be a guess xx
