Biggest shock of my life

I've joined this group specifically because I need to talk about what I've just discovered - 44 years old, unprotected s$x with my husband for well over 20 years (had a miscarriage with him when I was 21) - resigned myself to never having a baby of my own. Every time a friend or colleague got pregnant I became more comfortable with it just being me and him for the rest of our lives....
I thought my period was due, sore boobs etc. Had some very light spotting yesterday which I assumed was the start of my period, then nothing. Realised period was late (usually 28 days like clockwork), funny taste in my mouth, super sensitive sense of smell. Thought it was in my head but went to get a test anyway (part of me kind of 'knew') - got a very strong positive - didn't believe it so did another. Then went back to get a digital one which says 3+ weeks. I daren't be happy yet, I'm just stunned.

Oh OP you've really made my day. How utterly, utterly wonderful. This is going to be just as good as @Omgwhatthehell 's thread where half the nation were gunning for her and baby Brian. I have no idea how on earth you're managing to wait to tell DH in person. Please, please update us with his reaction won't you? Oh and many congratulations to the two of you. x

Just read the thread - I'm in tears now! I had a little cry earlier but pulled it together because I had to dial in to a meeting 😂I have a feeling tonight is going to be a little emotional - he's due home at around 6is.....

I've put the tests in box that I'm going to give to him when he gets home - I think it'll take him a while to cotton to be honest!

Life is wierd, it love to through random suprises in our lives.

We tried for 10 years then did IVF (successfully luckily) and then was planing on doing IVF again but covid/lockdown happened so life went on hold only to get magicly suprise pregnant during lockdown.

Even the doctors where shocked, I took the test myself (not remotely thinking I could be pregnant) because I was due to start meds that are unsafe when pregnant and doctors dont bother testing me for pregnancy anymore after 10 years of infertility.

I had to go buy another test as mine where 2 years out of date (since I just took it for 'piece of mind' and it was an old one in the cupboard) and I didnt believe it.

Life is very weird! So nice to hear from others about their experiences and that sometimes random things do happen.

I can't lie, over the years I've had a few times when I've thought could this be it and have rushed out to get a test only to be disappointed. I thought today was going to be the same when the first line appeared (I got the clear blue one where the horizontal line shows up first). I could barely breath as the very strong vertical blue line appeared within seconds!
