@B1993 thanks for this message! I’m pregnant with my 2nd and I have zero symptoms! Apart from tiredness, with my first I had sore boobs but this time i have absolutely nothing and inside I’m stressing 🫣

B1993 · 19/08/2022 19:04

@Ginmonkey84 Thats amazing! 😍

B1993 · 19/08/2022 19:09

@BamEd I’m so pleased it’s helped, even if just a tiny bit. It’s definitely hard to hear everyone say how they want symptoms because they’ll know the pregnancy is going well, meanwhile you’re sat there overthinking the fact that you have none and questioning it all!

It’s very possible that they’ll start a bit later but, if they don’t, just try to consider yourself lucky 😉

Agapanthus13 · 19/08/2022 19:12

Hi all, please can I join? I’m currently 6+6, had my first scan earlier this week which was great and given a due date of 8th April!
not sure how everyone else has been but I’ve been pretty rough with sickness etc, hoping I can get a handle on how to deal with it as off on holiday with my full family tomorrow who obviously don’t know!!

hope everyone else is doing well

Got my scan, reality is definitely setting in as a mum of 4 😅

Strong heartbeat and we could actually see small movements. Measuring exact for dates 7+1

Fab news!!! 😘 think this is our first scan photo of the group? ✨

Symptoms - i was pregnant at the same time as DSis, she had zero symptoms (even went to her GP as was convinced she wasn’t really pregnant lol) whereas I had everything - food aversions, nausea, dizziness etc. She had a perfectly healthy baby boy and I had a girl.

i do think there is some truth in boys being more symptomless than girls!! I know it’s supposed to be an old wives tale but in my experience it holds some truth, whenever I read about somebody having a great pregnancy with no symptoms it’s always a boy 😂

Skylark1990 · 19/08/2022 19:23

@B1993 thank you for pointing this out as it's very true! I'm the only one of my close friends who actually had vomiting in my pregnancy last time, so many of my friends had much milder symptoms or nothing particularly noticeable. It's definitely lucky in some ways but like you say can add to the the anxiety so somehow we just need to try to trust the process 😅 whatever our symptoms may be!

@Wouldloveanother I also wonder if this is true re boy/girl. I have heard with a girl the nausea often gets worse around 8/9 weeks when the sex hormones kick in whereas for boys it starts dropping around this time. This was true for DD but no idea if any actual evidence in it! X

Skylark1990 · 19/08/2022 19:26

Great news @Ginmonkey84 💕💕💕!

AliceinSlumberland · 19/08/2022 19:35

Ahhhh @Ginmonkey84 I’m so pleased for
you, gorgeous scan!

Ginmonkey84 · 19/08/2022 19:44

I have honestly had the most horrible cramps the last few weeks! I always assume the worst but my scan today was perfect. Your hcg levels are great x

Ginmonkey84 · 19/08/2022 19:46

Thanks everyone hopefully I start to connect with this pregnancy a little bit now. @Wouldloveanother i think it is! I have an awesome video too will maybe post that to the Facebook page later on. Pretty amazed to see slight movement so early on x

Margo34 · 19/08/2022 20:27

@Ginmonkey84 woweeee! Lovely scan 😍

@Skylark1990 I love the name Margo, I wish it was my actual name!! 🤭 It was on my list for DC1 in 2020 but didn't get used! I pulled out my old list of names yesterday just to see if I could remember what was on it and I'm not sure I like some of them now 😂

@Wouldloveanother re: girl or boy, symptoms no symptoms. In my NCT group there were 2 of us that didn't find out gender until birth, one of us had horrendous sickness/HG and the other next to no symptoms. We both ended up with a baby of the same sex 🤷

B1993 · 19/08/2022 20:35

@Wouldloveanother It’s an interesting theory - not sure I believe gender can impact symptoms all that much. I personally think it’s more to do with the individual. A couple months after I got pregnant BIL’s gf did too. We both had boys but she was pretty sick throughout the first trimester.

simplythequest · 19/08/2022 20:59

@B1993 I love how you speak so much sense and logic 😊 I do think that individual reactions to hormones are so much more likely to be the cause of symptoms than gender. I mean, looking at the individual reactions to colds, flus etc between people, you can see a big difference from the same virus, and that's without vaccination. I think it's all about how our body deals with it.

Also, about symptoms vs. no symptoms. Reading all of your thoughts and experiences made me think: pretty much the one "symptom" that seems to occur in the majority of pregnant women is anxiety. Regardless of the presence or absence of other symptoms, we all seem to panic that it's not right! Blasted hormones!

Wouldloveanother · 19/08/2022 21:01

Turns out there’s some logic to it!

Longbin · 19/08/2022 21:02

@B1993 I thought I would always feel the same but this time around I have been much less sick, I've had very intense hunger pains and nausea, but less physically sick than I was at this stage last time. Last time I had a girl

Springblooms08 · 19/08/2022 21:13

Evening all hope everyone is doing well! Lovely scan photo 💛I’m 4+5 today and this week had to commute to work every day on lots of very bumpy buses and tubes! The strikes this week didn’t make that any easier either. Rationally I know it’s absolutely fine, but just to put my mind at ease, are others commuting as normal (if you work in a city) on bumpy transport? Thanks ladies and happy Friday xx

Longbin · 19/08/2022 21:14

@Springblooms08 I commute to london and drive a 4x4 which flings me all over the place

Springblooms08 · 19/08/2022 21:19

@Longbin thank you - I know rationally I’m worrying about nothing. I normally do 3 day in the office and two at home, so think it was just me overthinking going in every day this week and I think because of the strikes they were pretty rough journeys!

Longbin · 19/08/2022 21:26

@Springblooms08 so hard when you get something in your head though. I had the fear before when I sat on a toilet seat with the lid down by accident and thumped on it, as if going to the toilet when you're pregnant isn't nerve wracking enough!

Margo34 · 19/08/2022 21:32

@Springblooms08 I had the fear in my first pregnancy with DC1 - I'm a primary school teacher and every PE lesson that involved jumping had me on edge 🙈

Wouldloveanother · 19/08/2022 21:34

If it helps I went skiing at 10 weeks last time (I wouldn’t do this again, I had paid for the holiday before I got pregnant) everything was fine!

Wisher88 · 19/08/2022 21:51

@AliceinSlumberland thank you, that's so nice to hear! I can imagine it can get quite addictive testing! I'm just counting down the days until I can get a private early scan. I don't know how people wait until 12 weeks!

Tubbytele · 19/08/2022 22:47

@Wisher88 I'll be waiting until the 12 week scan :) but I totally understand why many go for early scans.

Wisher88 · 19/08/2022 23:18

Oh wow, how do you have the patience??

Margo34 · 19/08/2022 23:43

Me too @Tubbytele For me personally I will wait to safeguard my mental health, not because I have patience (I don't). @Wisher88 I'd find 12w more reassuring than the idea of an early private scan because a lot can change in that time to 12w. And if I MC after seeing a scan or heartbeat I'd find it so much more heartbreaking and harder to recover from mentally. I realise not everyone has or will suffer a pregnancy loss, but when you've had 1 or more the anxiety is automatically high. Then there's how many private scans will I 'need' to reassure me for 40ish weeks if I can't even wait 12w? Pregnancy is a waiting game, from TTC to labour.
It's also a lot of money that I'd rather spend on the baby (or on pregnancy cravings!!!) - nearly £100 where I live!

That's my 2cents worth. Everyone will have their reasons for and for not paying for early scans ☺️ isn't it so good that we have that option though!
