Sorry for yet another post about the weather but is anyone else really struggling in this heat?

im 38 weeks now and feeling a bit miserable with it, I am doing all the usual stuff to keep cool but am just so hot, tired, feel like I’m moaning all the time and find the smallest things like walking up the stairs exhausting

Anyone else with me?

36 weeks here and melting. Feel exhausted but with 2 two year olds there is no time to rest :(

PollysPockets · 16/07/2022 18:41

37 weeks and struggling with this heat 🥵 my 4 year old finished nursery for the summer last week so having to keep him entertained whilst trying to look after myself, luckily he is being as good as gold but I'm really feeling sorry for myself! Lol

ElephantGrey101 · 16/07/2022 18:44

I’m only 16 weeks but I’m struggling. I have had really bad sickness so I am really dehydrated.

Hopefully it shouldn’t be too much longer for you and you will get your lovely baby. DS was born at 38 weeks and by that point I didn’t know what to do with myself.

wibblewobbleball · 16/07/2022 18:47

24 weeks and doing ok... Until suddenly I'm not ok and I break down in tears that it's too hot Blush 38 weeks is so tough already OP, hopefully not too much longer to go for you!

Isonthecase · 16/07/2022 18:51

Only 34 weeks but EURGH

frenchie4002 · 16/07/2022 19:34

Yes! 28 weeks today and at least at the weekend I can have a cool shower, keep the fan on etc. absolutely dreading going to work next week with no air con!

LostMumofTwo · 16/07/2022 19:49

Not currently but I remember it well with my first!
Lots of time spent with feet in a bucket of water! And run cold water on your pressure points

ShirleyPhallus · 16/07/2022 20:10

I‘m so sorry that you are all suffering too but pleased in a way to hear it’s not just me!

I keep checking the weather forecast to see when it’s getting back to normal and hoping the baby holds on inside for the horrible heat wave of the next few days!

@ShirleyPhallus yes, just stay very hydrated as apparently dehydration can bring on labour. Imagine sweaty postnatal wards in this 🤢

Squiff70 · 16/07/2022 23:54

34 weeks and really struggling too. Absolutely dreading Monday and Tuesday - not just the days but the nights as well. I've bought 3 fans and filled the fridge with bottles of water. Also have bottles of water in the freezer for our bunnies (they can lie against them and lick the condensation as they melt). Also stocked up on ice cubes and ice lollies. I've had two texts from my water provider asking people not to use hose pipes, however as far as I'm aware there's no actual ban per se, so if it all gets too much I'm prepared to fill my daughter's paddling pool and get in it with her!

Good luck everyone!

LostMumofTwo · 17/07/2022 04:30

@Squiff70 saw a thing yesterday that if you fill an old milk bottle with water, freeze it and stick it in front of the fan it makes the air it blows so much colder 👍🏻

Thank you. I'd heard that too and will be giving it a go.

39 weeks and dreading the next few days! Hoping baby stays put until the end of the week when it gets cooler. Don't fancy giving birth in the heat, or dealing with the stress of worrying if a newborn is too hot!

ToCaden · 17/07/2022 21:25

36 weeks. Found yesterday ok. Did a fair bit of diy with few clothes on and pouring water over myself. Today though I felt dizzy from exertion of walking up stairs and ended up sleeping all but a few hours.

Back at work tomorrow which is going to be tough. He's also up in my ribs today so bet the minute lung capacity didn't help.

Thank you from me too, I’ll also be giving this a go!

I’m keeping everything crossed for you (and me) that babies stay in for a bit longer! However miserable being pregnant in this heat is, it will be much worse on a maternity ward or trying to keep a newborn cool!

I'm lying on the sofa in my lingerie (I was too hot in a thin cotton nightie) with the curtains closed. I'm trying not to use fans and stuff because I don't want to get too used to them until tomorrow when the heat really ramps up.

I. Am. Boiling.

TeddyTonks · 17/07/2022 21:40

I'm 33 weeks and don't cope well in the heat anyway. Basically living in my underwear much to DHs amusement 🤣 Also bought myself some pet cooling mats which I put in the fridge and rotate round to sit or lie on, again, much to DHs amusement 🥵🐶

SunshineIndoors123 · 18/07/2022 07:57

@ShirleyPhallus Thanks! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too, hopefully the babies stay where they for a few days yet for us! Though I had some pains over night, they've stopped now thankfully.

Borgonzola · 18/07/2022 08:00

I'm 39+1 and managing the days but the last time the temp went over 30 the nights were impossible. I ended up trying to sleep on the sofa as it's cooler downstairs but as it's quite low down I could barely get off it to do my 6 pees per night Confused the scum of sleep is making me wonder how I'll get through impending labour, but hopefully my body quite literally won't let labour start until it's over!

Borgonzola · 18/07/2022 08:01

The scum of sleep? LACK of sleep. Though sleep does seem like a bit of a scumbag given it keeps evading me

Regenbogen22 · 18/07/2022 08:34

A large damp muslin draped over exposed skin helps me sleep better in the heat!

TakeMeToProvence · 18/07/2022 10:13

Hope everyone's doing ok?!
36 weeks here and just had my wfh request for the next two days denied. "We have fans in the office" so apparently that's fine

Eek. I've thankfully been allowed to work from home up until maternity. The choice I think was more down to health and safety (I have placenta previa so I think they didn't want the risk of me falling down stairs, going into an early labour, and sueing them for the outcome). Plus covid being everywhere in the office.

Still think it's a crap move to get people back into the offices just because they didn't want to spend money on empty buildings. It was all hybrid work being promised in my office until government had its paddy about getting people in all the time.

I'd be tempted to play up the huffing and puffing if I were you. Though if you feel anything like I did yesterday you wouldn't need to. He was cramming himself into my ribs so I had to pause every few steps due to dizzy spells.

henni85 · 18/07/2022 10:41

I am only 11 weeks, but a combination of medication and Crohn’s disease on top of pregnancy is absolutely destroying me in this heat! It’s feel for all the heavily pregnant ladies at the moment
