@xreadytoglow how are you getting on? I just had my midwife appointment and baby has turned breech - hoping he will turn again soon. For weeks he was in the right position. I'm starting to feel like with this and my low placenta a c section is looking more likely. I'll know more at my 36 week scan in 2 weeks

xreadytoglow · 30/09/2022 13:39

@Overlyanxious oh no! That's typical! Mine was like that, head down until about 31weeks when he went breech & then transverse. Stayed like that until I think a few days ago, my midwife appt on Weds said he's now head down. So we've switched! Hope yours turns again for you soon. Try some of the exercises on YouTube. Not sure if that's what worked for me but I did do a couple of the easier ones in the past couple of weeks before Weds.
But yeah otherwise all is good thank you 😃 still tracking at just below the 50th percentile, so still very bang average. I haven't packed a bag yet but it is on the agenda over the next couple of weeks. Only one week left in work thank god. Getting tired now.
How about you? Are you finishing soon, is your bag ready? I thought I'd be much more organised than I have been to be honest!

Bluehawaii29 · 30/09/2022 14:26

@xreadytoglow heyy that’s good she’s tracking at good weight, ours is 60th percentile so they are ok with that, my blood test yesterday showed improvement in anaemia so thankfully still don’t need iron tabs. I’ve got 2 weeks left of work can’t wait, have finished hospital bag too but just the toiletries haven’t bothered with yet, exciting it’s October tomorrow!

Overlyanxious · 30/09/2022 15:06

@xreadytoglow glad to hear all is going well. Ive got a bag out and started thinking about my hospital bag. Will try to pack it over the next week. We're only just sorting everything out and buying what we need - so unorganised.

I'm not meant to finish work till November but I'm starting to think I may have to change it as may end up going for a c section. I'll try those exercises for the breech and see what happenings. I'm feeling really tired at the moment - luckily I can fit in naps during lunch time when working from home.

@Bluehawaii29 glad to hear you don't need iron tablets.

Exciting you both only have a little time left of work.

xreadytoglow · 30/09/2022 15:21

@Bluehawaii29 aw that's good about the iron tablets! I stopped mine a couple of weeks ago too. And I don't know if you remember but I had problems with my platelets since my booking in appt, they were in the normal range for the first time at about 26 weeks and have stayed normal ever since so that's good. Crazy how much these little leeches affect us isn't it 😂 they take everything! Aw not long to go for work either.

@Overlyanxious ah no doubt you'll get everything sorted soon! It's so overwhelming isn't it thinking about everything that needs to be done/bought. I can't wait till I can just sit and feel like everything is prepared for.
Yeah maybe see about going earlier? Although good that you have the option to work from home. I'm using 3 weeks of annual leave before officially starting mat leave. I don't know if you have any holidays you could take?
Fingers crossed that the exercises work for you and your placenta is out of the way for the next time so you don't need to think about a section.

Heyyy I hope everyone is doing okay!

I finished work last week for maternity leave, thank god. So this week will be spent finishing packing my bag and finishing touches on the nursery. Can't wait to see that done. I really thought I'd be more organised than this but oh well!

I’ve just come back from my 36w check, I’m 36+3 today. She spent a good while trying to feel his position and said she wasn’t sure if his bum was his head because she can’t feel his head. I showed her where I thought his legs were and sure enough he demonstrated by giving her a couple of kicks. So she went back to check for the head and said, ’oh yeah there it is, it’s just very low and fully engaged now, I might not get to see you in 2 weeks after all!’

It's all getting so real now! I can't believe we're here after the thread of us all going through our IVF cycles 🤍

Bluehawaii29 · 11/10/2022 19:31

heyy good to hear from you @xreadytoglow! Glad your appt went well xyeah it’s crazy how far we’ve come. My mat leave starts in a few days, can’t wait! On thurs we find out date for our c section and then baby shower on sat! Getting very exciting now, bring on our babies 💕

Overlyanxious · 12/10/2022 08:56

@xreadytoglow that's great you're on leave now and have time to do stuff. That's exciting that baby is in the correct position and fully engaged.

I know it's crazy thinking back to the beginning of the year when we were in the two week wait. I'm getting so inpatient now.

I had my last day in the office yesterday - I'm now working from home until I'm on leave. I'm so relieved as I found sitting at work so uncomfortable and then I get too hot in the afternoon.

@Bluehawaii29 lots of exciting stuff coming up for you this week. It's crazy to think once you have that c section date you'll know when you get to meet your baby.

I have my 36 week scan tomorrow so will see if baby is still breech (I'm pretty sure he is) and if my placenta has moved.

I was at the hospital the other day getting a blood test and it was a crazy busy giving birth day so there was a woman in the room next to me giving birth. It was a bizarre experience - I heard the last 10 minutes and then the baby crying when he came out. I felt quite emotional. Although the woman did make me laugh as she shouted 'get him out'.

Bluehawaii29 · 12/10/2022 09:08

@Overlyanxious haha that’s a funny story, yeah it’s so nice to remember what it’s all for. That’s cool you got 36 week scan, fingers crossed baby is head down now. I set up a WhatsApp group with mothers I’ve connected with along the way who are all having elective c sections and this week is super busy, today is the first one and then two are going on consecutive days, tomorrow and Friday, makes it exciting to see them all having their babies, I still gotta wait till next month though but am grateful for some me time for the next few weeks!

xreadytoglow · 12/10/2022 10:18

@Bluehawaii29 glad to hear you're doing well! Aw Thursday, how exciting you'll know the date that you meet your little girl. Have a great baby shower too.

@Overlyanxious fingers crossed for your scan that baby is head down & your placenta has moved. If not, would they discuss a c-section at this point or give you a bit longer still?
That's crazy that you heard that woman giving birth! I think I'd be crying too 😂 I'm watching that Emma Willis programme at the minute and cry every time the baby comes out, haha.

Overlyanxious · 12/10/2022 15:09

@Bluehawaii29 thank you. Oh that is exciting to hear of others having their babies. Having some me time does sound good though.

@xreadytoglow thank you. I'm not sure what would happen if the baby is breech but the placenta is fine. I think they can offer to try to help turn him. I will let you know what happens. I don't think I could face watching that Emma Willis programme 😂

I think I may have started the nesting phase - I've been really manic today around doing work cleaning and washing.

Bluehawaii29 · 13/10/2022 13:01

Heyy today went well, growth scan was great, she’s on 65th percentile so growing normal rate and weighs just over 2.4kg now. Also have our official c section date booked for 14th nov!

Overlyanxious · 13/10/2022 17:27

@Bluehawaii29 that's great on your growth scan and your c section date - so exciting.

My scan was all good - luckily baby isn't breech but placenta is still a bit low. Have to talk to midwife tomorrow about birth plan. Have another scan booked in 2 weeks' to check the placenta. I'm hoping to get some answers tomorrow about whether I need a c section or not. Would prefer to know now then wait another 2 weeks.

Overlyanxious · 14/10/2022 11:48

So the midwife said I need to speak to the consultant so now have a scan and consultant appointment on the 25th to discuss my placenta.

Bluehawaii29 · 25/10/2022 09:58

Hi everyone how are you all getting on? Am 36+2 weeks today, less than 3 weeks to go, feeling very surreal

Gigi89x · 25/10/2022 10:39

@Bluehawaii29 i was wondering if you were due yet! You are getting so close now! I bet it does feel very surreal!

Im 24 weeks now, Had my GTT yesterday - hoping for no bad news!

Bluehawaii29 · 25/10/2022 10:47

@Gigi89x aww great to hear you’re doing well! Well done teaching viability, 24 week was a big milestone x fingers crossed your GTT is all good!
started my mat leave last Thurs, kinda wish I was busy now haha but trying to embrace the peace and quiet while I can

Overlyanxious · 25/10/2022 13:29

@Gigi89x well done on getting to 24 weeks. Good luck with the GTT.

@Bluehawaii29 it's so surreal being so close. I met with my consultant today and my placenta has moved so will be going for a vaginal birth - but will get induced on 7th November due to age and IVF. Am trying to ignore all the negative induction stories.

Bluehawaii29 · 25/10/2022 14:09

@Overlyanxious aww amazing news! Exactly a week before my date :) wishing you all the best and let us know how it all goes, not long now till you will meet your baby! Xx

Bryterlayter1 · 25/10/2022 14:20

Glad all is going well with you @Bluehawaii29 and that you are on track for the birth you wanted @Overlyanxious . I hope the GTT test is negative @Gigi89x GD is a pain! If you had your test yesterday and they haven't called you this morning that's a good sign. I had a call first thing the next day when I had the test.

I'm jealous of everyone on mat leave. I'm 36 +1 and am working until 37+1 so not that much longer, but man am I tired. Thankfully all home working from now on. I'm a uni lecturer and the last few weeks of having to lecture in person were not fun. The students were lovely though, often had offers to carry my bag or offers to get me a chair etc.

I have a consultant's appointment on Thursday (and a scan and meeting with the diabetic nurses). I will need to decide whether I want to be induced or have a c section at 38 weeks. It will depend on the baby's growth, to be honest. I did feel like the consultant was edging me towards c section last time we spoke as there were fewer cons on her CS list, but ultimately it's my decision. I'm pretty uncomfortable (bet most of you can relate!) so I am counting down the days. I'm also excited at the prospect of being able to eat carbs and sugar again!

Bluehawaii29 · 25/10/2022 14:47

@Bryterlayter1 thats cool we are only 1 day apart, originally they were saying to me as well they wanted to induce by 38 weeks because of ivf but now been pushed to 39 weeks c section. I’m glad you can get back to your normal food soon, not long now! Wishing you all the best too! Xx

xreadytoglow · 25/10/2022 19:42

Congrats on 24 weeks @Gigi89x 🤍 I hope your GTT is negative!

Ahhh so happy for you that the placenta has moved @Overlyanxious not long until baby is here! I know what you mean about horror stories & inductions.. I'm trying to avoid one too. If you have Instagram follow thenakeddoula, she has lots of info on there about your rights towards inductions. Personally I'd be pushing to go to 40 weeks based on very little risk with age or IVF. I've never had induction mentioned to me due to IVF, I think it's more of a 'depends what trust you're in' policy! Which goes to show how crappy of a reason that is to induce. But either way you'll make the best decision for you & bubs.

@Bluehawaii29 so exciting that you have a date to count down too!

Glad to hear you're doing well @Bryterlayter1 and a tough decision between induction and CS. Hopefully you'll go into labour naturally before then and not have to decide!

I'm still here and waddling around at 38+3. Baby is fully engaged but has been for a couple of weeks now. Period pain on and off but otherwise nothing much to make me think labour is imminent! I'm booked for a sweep in two weeks then I'll be 40+3 and will just take it from there.

Gigi89x · 26/10/2022 08:34

Is everyone being induced/c section early because of our IVF? It was mentioned to me early on as a possibility by my midwife. Im just wondering how/when they decide thats going to happen.

Bryterlayter1 · 26/10/2022 09:45

Hi @Gigi89x no, for me it's because I have gestational diabetes and am taking insulin. I'm also over 40 (so would have been recommended early induction on that basis as well). I've been consultant led from the beginning and was told at 28 weeks they recommend induction at 39 weeks due to age, that got moved forward to 38 weeks once I started on insulin. In my trust IVF is a risk factor but it doesn't seem to be viewed as a reason on it's own for induction.

Overlyanxious · 26/10/2022 10:08

@Bluehawaii29 thank you. I will keep you all updated.

@Bryterlayter1 Thanks. I'm still working and have the rest of this week and most of next week. My motivation is very poor at the moment. That's nice your students were so kind to you.

@xreadytoglow Thanks. I think for me the induction is more age related as I'm 39. I had some period pains recently as well but they have stopped now. I have also recently got carpel tunnel which is really painful. Do you have everything ready for baby?

@Gigi89x as above think my induction is more age related - but the IVF adds as an extra reason. The hospital weren't particularly pushy about it though. I think the reason is your placenta can start to deteriorate after your due date faster when older. You can opt to not have an induction and just get monitored closely.
