@xreadytoglow aww you are nearly there! You must be feeling pretty heavy by now, try and take it easy x
@Gigi89x hi my trust also told me at the beginning due to ivf I’d be induced no later than 39 weeks so that was something I really didn’t want and preferred c section over that which is also being done at 39 weeks x

Gigi89x · 26/10/2022 19:14

@Bluehawaii29 how much choice do you get over induced or csection? Do they consider ivf as to a reason to allow csection etc?

Bluehawaii29 · 26/10/2022 19:21

@Gigi89x im not sure about how much choice as I’d already decided on c section early on more due to anxieties over labour and wanting baby out quickly and safely. They definitely don’t encourage c section but are respectful of everyone’s choices and it has absolutely no relationship to ivf x

Gigi89x · 26/10/2022 19:23

@Bluehawaii29 thanks , i do remember you saying you preferred the csection option. Im debating it too.

How are you feeling at the moment? Your tummy must be quite big now!!

Bluehawaii29 · 26/10/2022 19:41

@Gigi89x I’m good thanks, got midwife appt tomororw but because I have growth scans they don’t have to do tummy measurements which is good as I think they would just increase anxiety. My bump is still pretty manageable even though im approaching 37 weeks this weekend. It’s surprising but i think this is probably normal for my body. Here a recent pic of the bump x

@Bluehawaii29 your bump is looking like its coming along nicely! Il be having growth scans too from December.
Its so surreal isn't it! It still doesn't feel real to me! Baby is kicking away though for me now and kicks getting harder - I'm wondering how much harder they get 😂

Bluehawaii29 · 26/10/2022 19:49

@Gigi89x aww exciting! Yeah feeling movements are a lovely part of the process, do you know what you’re having, boy or girl? X

Gigi89x · 27/10/2022 22:44

@Bluehawaii29 we are not finding out the gender, its going to be a suprise! Although most people are guessing i'm having a boy so far 👀

Bluehawaii29 · 28/10/2022 02:14

@Gigi89x aww that’s so exciting! Would be funny if they are right :) x

Gigi89x · 28/10/2022 20:57

Has anyone done NCT classes? Was it worth doing?

Bluehawaii29 · 29/10/2022 09:31

@Gigi89x didnt do NCT classes, they were pricey and didn’t see the point. Managed to meet other mums through peanut app and make connections that way as well as a well-being in pregnancy group I was part of. I think the main perk of NcT is meeting other parents but otherwise plenty of antenatal classes for free like the trust ones I did were good especially breastfeeding and infant care (am with Chelsea Westminster hospital trust). Also did free sessions with baby care academy which I found links through Instagram and the honest midwife was also really good and does a couple of free sessions

Bryterlayter1 · 29/10/2022 10:12

@Gigi89x I didn't do nct either but I did the free ante natal classes run by the NHS trust. The breastfeeding one was helpful, other sessions were more basic but I get that they need to make the material accessible for everyone.

I had my 36 week appointment this week. The baby is already 3.7kgs. Dr said that they'd need to induce ASAP because risk of baby's shoulder getting stuck in pelvis dramatically increases at 4kgs, which would have meant early next week when I hit 37 weeks, so could have been as early as Monday. I ended up choosing c section, I really felt Dr was trying to nudge me in that direction, she immediately said she felt I was making a good decision given circumstances. Which i was relieved about, it's a tricky decision but baby is growing so fast and inducing at 37 weeks just felt so early. So section date will likely be early on in week of the 7th.
I'm trying hard to express some colostrum (hospital gave me a kit) unfortunately baby's blood sugars likely to crash after birth so they've asked if I can try and hand express and bring in some in but nothing. Hoping I get something, poor baby, getting so big because of the flippin gestational diabetes and then I might not have any milk... hopefully it comes in quickly. It's all getting a bit real now.

Hope everyone is doing well?

Bluehawaii29 · 29/10/2022 13:20

@Bryterlayter1 aww glad baby is growing well and you’ve made your decision about c section, I think it will be better for you than induction! Wow that’s exciting how soon you are going to deliver! Exactly a week before mine :) it’s good they are doing at 37 weeks though given your baby’s growth rate, wishing you all the best and let us know how it goes x

Bryterlayter1 · 29/10/2022 15:51

@Bluehawaii29 😊 I think it is the right decision, thankfully they are letting me go to 38 weeks (7th Nov ish) for the section, if I opted for induction I would have been in early this coming week, which would have been weeks 37. Feels early but of course baby is already a big size. Based on current growth rates they will likely be near 10lbs by 38 weeks but as it's a c section that is less of a concern. Luckily we have a lot of 0-3 month clothes because I don't think I'll be needing the new born size.😆

bajanbump · 29/10/2022 17:58

Ladies! I hope everyone is doing great!! I am sorry I have been so MIA

I came back to Europe and then I got covid and almost immediately after healing, I broke a toe...and needless to day I was miserable LOL

Plus work has been very very stressful.. with the current economy tech companies are under a lot of pressure so i've had to work 10-12 hours for the last 10 weeks..not the third trimester I had in mind..

Anyway me and the girls are doing great, 33w+3..both girls weigh almost 2kg and with only 8g difference which it seems is very rare for diachronic twins! They are in the 60-63% percentile so honestly very happy.

If they don't decide to come earlier I will be delivering at 37 weeks, and the doc says that even if they don't normally go for it with twins, she recommends an induction in order to have a "natural" birth. She says I'm the perfect candidate because I am tall, both babies are placed correctly and same weight. We will continue to monitor my cervix (right now is 2.3) and if continues to decrease, on the 8th we will make the decision.

I will try to get some time over next week to catch up on the messages but I hope everyone is doing great. I honestly cannot wait for the girls to be here, this bump is heavy heavy heavy LOL between the two babies, placentas and liquid I'm carrying almost 18lbs lol

Gigi89x · 29/10/2022 20:03

@Bryterlayter1 it sounds like you made a good decision! Are you excited now?

@bajanbump I'm sorry to hear you got covid, are you feeling better? , sorry to hear you worked such long days - i work in tech too!
Not long to go for you and your twins now, thats so exciting!

Overlyanxious · 29/10/2022 22:51

@Bluehawaii29 your bump is looking good. Everyone tells me my bump is compact. This random woman at the shops today decided to speak to me for ages about pregnancy and comparing mine with her daughters.

@Gigi89x I haven't done NCT but lots of people said it was good just for having a group of friends. I haven't done any courses but have been reading up and watching YouTube videos - I can't face spending hours in organised classes. That's great you're getting good baby kicks.

@Bryterlayter1 Glad you're happy with a c section - does sound like a good option. How exciting that you will see your baby that soon. I'm being induced on the 7th - but imagine it will take days for anything to happen.

@bajanbump sorry to hear you've been ill and so busy with work. Great that your babies are doing so well though. Not too long now till you meet them.

Bluehawaii29 · 30/10/2022 01:45

Full term today at 37 weeks! never thought I’d get to full term so it’s a huge relief! Stitch coming out this Thursday ahead of my c section on 14th Nov x

bajanbump · 31/10/2022 09:20

@Gigi89x yeah much better! For a few weeks it was like one thing behind the other + work so it was a bit too much, but now it seems like everything has resolved itself in preparation for the birth of the two little ones.

@xreadytoglow thank you so much! How long until your little one is here now? Are you all packed and ready to go?

@Bluehawaii29 congrats on reaching full term! only 14 days more!! what are your plans for the last two weeks? I feel everybody says sleep while you can but im bursting with anticipation already!

have you all decided on names already?

Bluehawaii29 · 31/10/2022 09:28

@bajanbump thanks! Glad you are doing well x yeah just 2 weeks left, literally this day in 2 weeks time we’ll be at the hospital waiting to be taken to the theatre. i haven’t got much planned now tbh as overdid it these last couple weekends and nearly started getting some flu symptoms but thankfully that’s gone so has scared me in to just staying at home again. Have 5 hospital appts over the 2 weeks though so plenty to get on with there and stitch coming out on Thursday! X

bajanbump · 31/10/2022 09:38

@Bluehawaii29 so exciting! do you know the approx weight?

I have packed a full cabin bag for the babies, one side for Savannah and one side for Siena, and each side has half preemie clothes and half newborn clothes bc I don't know how big they will end up being LOL. I think around 2.8-3kg so right around the line between preemie and newborn

Overlyanxious · 31/10/2022 11:38

@Bluehawaii29 congratulations on getting to full term. I still remember the stress you went through with the stitch - look how far you've come. Sounds very busy with your appointments. Resting sounds good - I've become a lot more knackered and grumpy since 37 weeks.

@bajanbump I love your baby names - they are so pretty.

I've stopped paying too much attention to weight and measurements of my growth scans as at each one they say they don't have a great view. So I'm not convinced they are that accurate.

This weekend I had the stress of the emergency dentist as I had terrible tooth ache - turns out I have a pregnancy related gum infection so now on antibiotics. I feel a bit like I'm falling apart as I also have carpal tunnel which is painful.

Bryterlayter1 · 31/10/2022 11:43

@Bluehawaii29 that's exciting about reaching the 37 week milestone. I reached that milestone today too.

@bajanbump hope all is settling for you. Sounds like you've had a whirlwind few weeks!

Bryterlayter1 · 31/10/2022 11:44

@Overlyanxious sorry to hear about the tooth infection that sounds like the last thing you need at this stage! Hope the antibiotics work quickly and you start to feel better soon.

Bluehawaii29 · 31/10/2022 12:10

@bajanbump yeah it’s crazy how much you have to take, we will also be taking a traveller size suitcase and hand bag along with breast feeding cushion and a cooling bag for the food/ snacks. Car seats and everything installed and ready to go. I like your names for the babies! Ours is Ishika :). We have last growth scan next Monday which will be 38+1 but last time she was doing good on 65th centile at the 34 week scan and weighed 2.4kg that time so most likely will be 28kg by next week hopefully.
@Overlyanxious Thank you yes it was a very stressful time but glad to see the finishing line now and tomorrow is finally November! she will be born a week before her due date which was going to be 20th nov but at happy with 39 weeks! Just want to meet her now, getting very excited. Trying to fill my time watching movies and resting as much as poss but braxton hicks keep coming, I had a tooth ache over weekend but got better with mouthwash and salt water gargles, sorry to hear you had to go emergency dentist, hope you are feeling better now! Yes the mood swings are bad and get oily skin and hair more easily now, can’t wait for the day to come now x
