Does everyone's belly button pop out?

I'm a bit squeamish and really not looking forward to this ( although I suppose it'll be a good opportunity to give it a good clean). I'm 26 weeks now and no sign of outward movement or even flattening, do you think I'll get away with it?....hopeful emoticon.

nervousal · 17/01/2008 12:06

mine didn't!

Soberandsad · 17/01/2008 12:06

I've still got an inny and am due tomorrow, so there is still hope. It did pop out with DS1 but only after eating a meal the size of a small pony!

scorpio1 · 17/01/2008 12:06

mine is out (27 weeks)and this is the third pg it has popped...out of three pgs!

nimnom · 17/01/2008 12:07

Mine didn't with either pregnancy

betterhalf · 17/01/2008 12:07

This was the thing that was freakng me out the most when I found out I was pregnant ( pathetic eh!). Im now 39 weeks and it hasnt popped out so PHEW! I would have hated it.

NatalieJane · 17/01/2008 12:09

Mine didn't pop out with either pregnancy, but with DS2 it did get extremely close towards the end.

fishie · 17/01/2008 12:11

no mine didn't, i think the layer of [ahem] padding prevented it.

macaco · 17/01/2008 12:11

oh thank god for that! Here's hoping it stays put as I really think it would freak me out completely.

Mine never popped out but it is rather an odd , but neat, belly-button. Its like a button on an upholstered seat IYKWIM ?

When hugely pregnant it just flattend out, losing the little creases that radiated from the "button" in the middle.

biglips · 17/01/2008 12:13

no mine didnt but my mate who was 4 months pg her belly button popped out and it was massive!! She was a skinny minnie before she fell pg.

WindUpBird · 17/01/2008 12:13

Mine never did last time and no signs of it doing so this time at 24 weeks so far...As Betty said mine too just went kind of flat.

macaco · 17/01/2008 12:14

Mine's really deep so perhaps that will mean it doesn't pop, if it's got more to travel IYSWIM.

Mine didn't! But then you could probably lose a malteser in it.

macaco · 17/01/2008 12:19

LOL bohemianbint. That could well describe mine actually.

No popping this end.

sweetgrapes · 17/01/2008 12:30

I think it depends on the position of the baby. If it's facing front then the belly button doesn't pop out and it does if baby is facing to your back, afaik.

Mine didn't on first time and did second time round.

BITCAT · 17/01/2008 12:31

Mine didn't, it kinda sunk in quite a lot went very flat, i know lot of people whose did pop out.

Rantmum · 17/01/2008 12:35

I had an outy to begin with so yes. I was totally unaware that I should be body conscious about it (I avoid women's magazines like the plague) until quite recently. Apparently it is very ugly (my dh doesn't think so) according to a magazine in my hairdressers. Honestly, who gives a f**k?

TheRedQueen · 17/01/2008 12:44

Mind didn't actually pop out, but it sort of got pushed flat (from the inside out IYSWIM). The thing I most remember is that the skin from deeper inside was very tender when it rubbed against clothes (being, I suppose, unused to the friction).

IdrisTheDragon · 17/01/2008 12:52

Mine popped out in both pregnancies. And isn't the way it was before I got pregnant. A bit strange really.

Jill60 · 17/01/2008 12:57

Mine didn't, it went very shallow and wide but no popping thank goodness, there's no disguising a popped tummy button no matter how lovely your maternity wear is!

MuffinMclay · 17/01/2008 13:42

no popping last time
this time it hasn't popped ot, but is less in than when not pg (sort of flat and wide)

gingerwench · 17/01/2008 13:48

I thought I was the only one to worry about this! Ok not worry really badly but I felt a bit queasy at the thought of an inevitable popping out. And how hooray! it seems from mumsnet that it is not necessarily inevitable after alL! - no offence to those with natural outies - I'm just used to my own inny that is all
