Hi all, looks like we'll be filling up today or tomorrow. I wanted to create the thread early so we can have a link to the new one. Have a nice weekend!

@Orcarain I had it in my 19th week. Only ill for a couple of days, just felt tired and bunged up. Just rested up and then I felt fine. It's the second time I've had it now!

Vg92 · 14/08/2022 11:19

Another paracetamol question, SORRY
What is the maximum dose of paracetamol in 24 hours? I am getting different answers from my midwife and triage. Very concerned I may have taken more than I am supposed to 🥺

stuntbubbles · 14/08/2022 11:23

@Vg92 What does it say on the packet? Usual dose is 2 tablets max no sooner than every four hours, no more than 8 tablets (4 doses) in 24 hours. But if you accidentally had 10 tablets in 24 it’s unlikely to be a huge issue.

Vg92 · 14/08/2022 11:36

@stuntbubbles yes, on the package says up to 8 tablets on 24 hours for adults but no information for pregnant women. My midwife said I can have 2 tablets every 6 hours, but then the doctor at triage said up to 3g every 24 hours, which is 6 tablets in 24 hours.
And to make things worse, I googled it as well ( I know it is very wrong but could not resist) and it says up to 4 tablets, 2g in 24 hours.
I had 3g in 24 hours because my temperature was 38.6. It all back to normal now and I am not taking paracetamol anymore but still I am concerned.

Thank you for reassuring me, I needed it.

How’s everyone doing with the heat? I’m sure all I’ve done this weekend is lay on my bed with the fan on me! I can’t function! 😰😰😰

ScarbMum · 14/08/2022 22:00

Hey, due 3rd December here with a boy!

hopefulsunshine11 · 15/08/2022 11:48

Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well, I'm now over 24 weeks. It's flying in now and just can't wait to meet my baby boy!

Just wondering if anyone else is getting this weird feeling? It feels like I need to wee but I don't, it's not an infection as I've been tested. I think it's just pressure but I keep getting a weird twinge sensation in my vagina like it feels like something wants to come out, he's maybe just kicking on my bladder but I'm not getting strong kicks yet just flutters so it's hard to know. I am feeling him flutter just now and it's still quite low down. It's not painful so would rule out lightning crotch and just nerves being pushed on?

Tofu35 · 15/08/2022 12:52

@hopefulsunshine11 nothing more frustrating than running to the toilet only to find it's the baby playing a prank on your bladder. But then it does make me drink more water because I'm convincing myself I should pee every time I go to the toilet (even if it is only 5 mins after the last trip).

My grumble today is why don't supermarkets clearly label is cheese is made from pasteurised milk. I bought some feta in Morrisons and it just says "made in Greece, ingredients: milk". I don't want to risk it, but I found a lovely recipe I really wanted to try!

Jaaxe · 15/08/2022 12:59

Just had my 20 week scan, took them ages to see everything but they got there in the end, all looked ok with baby structurally but they said I have uterine artery notching and I’m going to need more scans starting at 28weeks and then 3 weekly from there and more appointments to check growth, my blood pressure and movements as I’m more at risk of there being placenta problems, preeclampsia and baby being small so I’ve come away really worried something bad like stillbirth is going to happen 😢 anyone any experience? X

Just check all the Feta, the essential smart price one in asda specifies pasteurised milk...

Very variable labelling so I just look insane in the cheese aisles hunting down the ones that say pasteurised but there are plenty if you shop around 🥰

Tofu35 · 15/08/2022 21:24

Thanks @LC84! The feta mission continues :)

Scan done, one healthy baby girl! 💗 perfectly average on all measurements. Have to pop back next week for a check on her heart, as she just would not roll over for the sonographer to do the whole check, but nothing to worry about baser on what we know right now 🥰

Exactly the same as me today ☺️

Mommabear20 · 16/08/2022 09:45

A question for all the other veteran mums, have you made your plans yet for when you go into labour? Whose watching your older kids? When we had DS my in laws had DD for a few nights, but they don't have space for both of them to stay over night :/ They live in a bungalow and couldn't manage our stairs so can't even have them stay at our house 🤦‍♀️ I've got a friend that is going to pop in on the dogs and let them out and feed them for us, so at least we're half sorted! 😂

I didn't want to read this and run - how lovely you'll get to see baby so often! Remember those scans are there to stop what you are worrying about happening. With the extra care, no doubt that puts you and baby in the safest position possible.

AmyAW · 16/08/2022 12:42

I've just booked myself in for a Mummy MOT - my local physio does them pre-natal! Quite excited after getting a bit freaked out this morning by the new big ridge which has appeared along the middle of my tummy when I get up from lying down - no doubt the first signs of ab separation which I'd love to keep in check if I can.

hopefulsunshine11 · 16/08/2022 15:44

@Tofu35 I am googling everything lol, the amount of things that doesn't say pasteurised is annoying. I didn't even eat cake until recently or ice cream lol!

Thank you for your kind message, I think it was such a shock yesterday I just cried all day thinking the worst was going to happen but I’ve been a little better today. You are right they said it’s a precaution and women and babies don’t always have issues but to be safe we both need closer monitoring, definitely better they picked it up rather than not, thanks xx

Tofu35 · 18/08/2022 09:08

Morning everyone! I need to alert HR to my pregnancy this week (now I have the MATB1 form) but realised I have no idea when I want to start maternity leave. I was thinking going at 38 weeks?

What are you all thinking?

Mommabear20 · 18/08/2022 09:59

@Tofu35 I think a lot depends on the job you're in. I'll be leaving at 35 weeks as with both previous pregnancies I e got really bad nerve pain in the tops of my legs when walking/ standing for more than a few minutes, so an 8 hour shift would be absolutely awful.

MissC07 · 18/08/2022 10:10

@Tofu35 My plan is to try and work as close up until the birth as possible, maybe to 38 weeks so I can get more time the other side. Although I'm lucky and can WFH which really helps with cutting the commuting out. If I had to get the train 5 days a week I'd probably take it now 😂

Loute02 · 18/08/2022 10:11

@Tofu35 I said to HR that I wanted to continue working as long as possible so until the last Friday before my due date. I have a job where I can WFH and sit behind a computer so not physically straining.
Maybe I'm naive because it is my first 😅
Although Hr and my manager know that plans might change depending on how it is going in the next few months.

MrsN3 · 18/08/2022 11:11

@Tofu35 I have been stressing over when is the best time to go as I don’t want to sit around at home waiting bored that nothing is happening especially when the weather is likely to be miserable that time of year.
Im a teacher and it’s my first so did want to go up to the 30th November as due date is the 4th December but it’s such a hard decision to make especially in the second trimester when things seem a little easier 😂

hopefulsunshine11 · 18/08/2022 12:23

Can anyone help me with bottles please?? 🍼😁.

We are looking at the MAM anti colic starter set, although we were going to get the 6 in 1 bottle warmer and steriliser kit, but I've been reading that the bottles are self sterilising and only need 3 mins in the microwave? Assuming you add water and steam them?

So, is there much point in getting the full set? Although the bottle warmer would come in handy! Does everyone recommend a bottle warmer?

Sorry first time mum here and have not a clue!

Thanks!

Mommabear20 · 18/08/2022 12:43

@hopefulsunshine11 we use the mam bottles! They're brilliant! And yes, there are instructions in the box, but just a dd a tiny bit of water inside the bottom and put in the microwave for 3 minutes (4minutes if you're doing two at a time!) we've loved them as if we're going to visit someone, I can just take one bottle and extra formula and sterilise at their house rather than having to take multiple bottles! Obviously not the case if you're out and about but can't have everything! 😂 we never used a bottle warmer as we used formula and a tommee tippee perfect prep machine but my cousin loved her warmer as she breastfed and then gave expressed milk in a bottle too.
I'll also say, if you're planning to use dummies (or even if you're not, but end up doing so as we did 😂) get the same brand of Dummy as the bottles that you use, baby is more likely to take it if it's the same feel for them.

Chanel05 · 18/08/2022 12:56

@hopefulsunshine11 I had MAM bottles for my dd. So easy to sterilise them in the microwave. I think I had 6 and then I'd shove them in the dishwasher during the day / overnight.

I had a Tommee Tippee thermos that I took out with me with hot water so that I could warm bottles on the go but I used the perfect prep machine at home, which was a lifesaver during those night feeds.
