Ohhhh, I forgot, DH felt the baby move for the first time yesterday! We were so excited!

@BellatrixK that's so lovely for DH to feel kicking, it's magical, get back in the air con room pronto!!

I know it's horrible for you pregnant ladies this hest but the worry is real for the babies and trying to keep them cool and regulated and happy. They are hot sticky little messes and it's not great. B just wants to fall asleep all day which isn't ideal and I feel mean trying to keep her awake 😩

We've not had rain here, still scorching & our smoke sharks went off last night it was so hot. Did I mention our cold water tap in the bathroom also not working?? Everything is breaking before we have a chance to fix things. Eek

Oh @Minster2012 that does sound like a disaster, we have cloudy skies and 19 degrees, so bliss, I do feel for the babies, and the preggos, hopefully is behind us, I have a day of deep house cleaning, I feel ok and it’s not too hot, and knitting, too

@Minster2012 still alive here (just) last night was well.. 😂 woah bet you woke with a fright at them going off, although I assume you meant alarm and you have no sharks in your house 😳 no good on the tap too, especially it being the bloody cold one!

Trying to catch up, think everyone pregnant and with babies is in survival mode. Z was super chill yesterday which made it easier when it was 39 degrees. I think perhaps he cba to make a fuss 😂 although we've been up since 3:30am. He just wanted to be held but it just wasn't humanly possible without us both sweating to death so we went for a drive to cool down. He's bathed and back in bed now and I'm trying to get all the shit done that wasn't feasible yesterday.

@BellatrixK I would 100000% rather be pregnant in this heat than have a tiny baby - there was a heatwave not long after DS was born (not as hot as this) and I was really worried about keeping him cool enough. So lovely that DH felt baby!

Much cooler overnight and only 20c today. Although I'm sat in the local maternity unit waiting for blood tests and it's hotter than the sun in here, must be horrible to be working here. Was meant to be heading into London later but that may be cancelled which will be better...!

I think it's debatable whether I am still alive actually. I'm sure I had like 1.5 hours sleep (on the sofa) and last night was somehow worse than the night before. Even though it wasn't meant to be. We did have 5 mins rain but it did nothing for cooling down. I am not impressed. No babies need to be turning up here as I haven't the energy to move. Today doesn't even look cool enough for my liking but tonight does look better. It had better not be lying to me! I've relented and put the dishwasher on though, or it's going to stink. I did it early in a hope the bit of breeze will help cool the kitchen back down before it gets too warm again later. I really want my bed! 😫

@Juno231 whilst I love massage, I'm not sure about it in the heat either. I can't bear to be touched and if DH accidentally puts any body part against me on the sofa, I have a fit. 🤣 Bloody hell on earth atm.
@BellatrixK awww its amazing when they feel for the first time! DH was in awe.
@Minster2012 I have no idea what smoke sharks are but they sound amazing. I'm not even going to look it up, as my head can provide a whole lot better image and I just don't want to ruin that. 🤣 Agree about the babies. I can barely deal with myself. I do not want a small baby in this heat if its optional.
@larrythelizard hospitals are always hideously hot so I can't imagine now. Its just not somewhere you want to be. 🤣 I did go for a scan one hot day though and vowed never to return. I hope it goes OK.

Both children slept through it though. Weird, though X woke up when we went in his room & said "who are you get out" so think he was welllll in slumber 😝

Was it @larrythelizard that said about the coil? Copper as opposed to mirena? I just don't know which to go for. They said the copper doesn't really stop periods that's why I was swaying to mirena tbh

Oh @paintfairy it sounds really tough. Would a cold shower help? I spent most of yesterday in front of a fan under some sort of cold cloth/clothing and went to sleep having my own wet t-shirt competition! It's much cooler out here today, just need the house to release all the heat!

Yeah it was me who asked @Minster2012 I'm pondering what I'll do (want DH to have the snip but that won't be immediate) - I also suspect my options are pretty limited given the crazy migraines. And the baby in my tummy will tell you I'm not to be trusted with condoms when drunk and horny...

DH working in the kitchen again today which annoys me as I can't snack as I wish without being watched (not that he'd dare comment...!)

@larrythelizard I did have a few cold showers and I also ended up sat with my feet in the mop bucket at 1.30am. 🤣 Surely being pregnant is a time when you can eat what you want when you want?! Probably the only time!

Cold showers def the way forwards and the wet t shirt competition sounds helpful too @larrythelizard I shall try that tonight if it's no better. Go collect a bucket of snacks!! And yeah k agree on the not to be trusted with condoms thing. Me too I think

Well I was having lunch with my mate as a belated birthday thing but she's cancelled, can't say I'm that disappointed. I've been on hold to my local council for 20 mins so far. Just want to get rid of the sodding sharps bins

@kaylsd a bit of a whirlwind but it's good that they've got you under consultant care. Just echoing what everyone's else has said on c sections, big pants, nighties for hospital as you'll have a catheter in to start with, something that goes up higher than your scar for wearing home over the bump maternity leggings I found were great for this, you might get some swelling in your legs and feet as all the fluid drains there after the section so take flip flops (it took about 3 weeks before I could fit my feet back into my normal trainers!) and elevate your feet afterwards as much as poss inbetween walking little and often initially. A pillow to hold over your scar on the car ride home if you have speed bumps to go over (also good if you need to cough or sneeze). Take something for trapped wind and try to poop before your section! There's such a hype around getting the needle in your back but I found the steroid injections way sorer so was pleasantly surprised that it was no big deal at all and over with quickly.

@paintfairy it does sound very much like your body is getting prepped for eviction 🤞 in the next few days when it's a bit cooler it all decides to kick off naturally.

@BellatrixK swapping my children for an ice lolly and paddling pool sounds great at the moment but I doubt anyone would give up such precious commodities for two sweaty over hot, over tired, wingey gremlins 😂 So glad your workplace were so accommodating in the heat!

@Minster2012 what a time for your cold tap to stop working 🙈 with you on the children being angels elsewhere then devil's at home! I agree I'm disappointed at the lack of real smoke sharks too, that would have been cool 😂 Tho I was reading somewhere that most kids don't rouse from smoke alarms in their sleep they need alarms set at a different pitch for their brains it was quite frightening to think actually and I've no idea why alarms aren't multi pitched then 🤷‍♀️

DD is in a much better mood today with the slightly cooler weather tho that may change once it warms up in the afternoon. Finally going for her 6 week check this afternoon at 10 weeks 🙄
DS on the other hand is having dramas and tantrums over EVERYTHING this morning, give me strength! 🤦‍♀️

@DKDK123 @paintfairy @larrythelizard massage was fab (third one already! Got two more to fit in before DD) albeit sweaty... There was an aircon unit in the room which felt fantastic at first compared to the 40 degrees outside but then I realised it was still too warm in the room and I could feel the beads of sweat rolling off my head as I laid there. Overall still very enjoyable though 😅

@Minster2012 I'm so glad people picked up on the sharks as I thought it must just be something I don't know about! Can't blame you for not minding the cancelled lunch, I definitely feel like not doing anything today either. Can't believe the amount of plumbing issues you're having btw! Oh god @Juno231 the amount of issues we have here full stop is unreal, the plumbing & drainage isn't great, we've had to stacks the burglar alarm as that kept on going off on its own late at night & the company that makes them no longer exists. The smoke alarms (not sharks) are shit. Loads more things too. Yes her foot corrected itself within a few weeks which is fab, she does still have a flat head but I don't mind that as X did & he's ok now. I LOVED my massages, Jesus it's too hot to batch cook. I sweated so badly and that was April!! Get knobbing more though!!

@DKDK123 yes it's weird, xander didn't stir at all til we went in. Not great if the fire was in our room for instance. Telling @kaylsd to try poop before section that's hilarious, I can imagine the straining now!!

Boring fact of the day for you @Minster2012 (or maybe not) but most children until adolescent can't hear smoke alarms going off. The frequency they are set at is more identifiable by adults especially the ones we make to British standards and children's hearing isn't developed in the same way. So something to be aware of! I don't know if you know of a 'mosquito device' which emits a sound around shops and places teenaged loiter to deter them but the principle is the same ie it's not a nuisance to adults because they can't hear it. My fire risk assessing has come in useful for something on MN 😂

ooooo I did wonder who was our bus fire Marshall @bez91 😂that's really weird though and the mosquito thing for anti social teenagers what? Honestly though when it woke me I was really disoriented too 🤣

Hi everyone, still here, still surviving (just).

have been busy with visits from the in laws and then spent two days as a human camelback during the heatwave. 40 degree days in london can get in the bin 🥵 baby girl wanted to feed non stop and would only sleep if she was on me. Thank god it was only two days. Definitely feel for you pregnant ladies during the heat but I have to say it was a fairly anxious two days making sure the baby was okay.

@Minster2012 amazed at how many outings you’re doing with both kids - definitely need to rebook another spa day and get OH on double kid duty.

@bez91 sorry about DD- is she feeling better? And how is Z doing? Is he sleeping more at night now?

@DKDK123 hope you’re doing okay, so tough when the baby only wants to sleep on you (especially if it involves constant rocking) and ESPECIALLY if you also have another child to look after. Hats off to you.

@Juno231 amazing that you have more massages booked in, excellent shout. And as annoying as it is to be cooking in the heat, it will be even harder with a newborn so I’d say persevere. Having the freezer meals was such a lifesaver in the first few weeks.

@kaylsd baby shower looked lovely! And great that you were able to get that all sorted with the midwives/consultant.

@paintfairy cant believe your bubs will be here soon! I will say, it seems like you don’t cope well on a lack of sleep (I mean, who does??) but it might be worth having a chat with your DH and making a bit of a sleep plan - ie what happens if you’re up all night cluster feeding, will he take her off you so you can rest? Could you have a “safe word” of sorts (ooer) that if you say it, it means he has to come and help you out no matter what? Is he taking paternity leave? Also from what you’ve said before about him, might be worth writing it down in case he forgets 😂

Have also been playing a fun game lately of “is it colic, reflux or a CMPA?!” Definitely not as bad as Elsie @Lexber as I’m pretty sure DD is still gaining weight, but I’ve now cut out all dairy from my diet and started giving her probiotics and I do think it’s made a difference. She is more settled now (well apart from the heatwave days) but I think the probiotics are definitely helping things to move along in her gut as she has been doing some mahooosive poos. Obviously always at the worst possible times.

also she’s 6 weeks old now. How did this happen?!

@paintfairy I've surprised myself with not finding out you know, I always said I'd love to know because I like being overly organised, but as soon as I found out I was pregnant I didn't want to know, OH did but I convinced him not to, and now he's as set on not knowing as I am, whenever we go for scans and they tell us they're going near the bottom half we both sit there like children eyes tightly closed, hands over our eyes, and turning to face each other🤣 I've put on my birth plan too that I want OH to tell me whether it's a boy or a girl when they arrive, instead of the midwife! Oh I feel you on the heat and not sleeping, how bloody awful was it??? Even last night I woke up every hour dripping with sweat!!!

@Minster2012 love a pregnant discount, also love how nice people are when you're pregnant, this week especially I've had so many people help me in shops/supermarkets etc! Annoying on the spa day but at least you still actually get the spa day, what a dream that'll be!!

@larrythelizard I've also always thought a high bump meant girl and mines been high throughout, I keep getting feelings it's a girl but I wouldn't want to say for definite in case I'm wrong, however my bump has dropped now!

@whatwonder glad to hear the cutting out dairy and the probiotics have helped her, my OH is crazy on probiotics and gut health, he goes mad for sauerkraut🤣 bet it was an anxious time with a baby in this heat, I keep saying to OH I'm nervous if it's hot when baby arrives, I'll be checking constantly!!

So our tiler who let us down 2 weekends ago then said he'd start last Saturday and do Sunday Monday too to make up for it, let us down an hour before he was supposed to start on Saturday saying he had to go and tend to his mum at a care home, we thought fair enough it can't be helped, he told us he'd come for 8:30 on Sunday and stay late so he could still be finished for Monday, 9:30 on Sunday he still hadn't shown up, OH tried texting and ringing, anyway we didn't hear anything at all until OH rang him on Monday from his work phone (figured he wasn't answering from mobile as he knew the number) alas he answered, OH told him how rude and unprofessional he had been, to which he replied "you don't know what I'm going through", I understand people have things going on but don't take on jobs you can't handle for one and two if you can't make the job at least let us know and don't ignore us??? We were fuming as the flooring is whats holding everything else up but OH came through yet again and found someone who's started this morning, so hopefully should be done tomorrow then we can get dining table, chairs in, paint done ready for the sofas arriving next week!!

Had my 38 week midwife appointment yesterday, told me babies head was really really low, and in my notes under engagement put "3/5" ??? I have a growth scan again tomorrow so she said if I ask them they'll be able to tell me just how low the head is, and hopefully baby is still growing well so there won't be any talk of induction! The mid wife did say they can offer me a sweep from Monday when I'll be 39 weeks but not sure what I'll do yet as I have been getting slight period type cramps in the mornings the last few days! Managed to DTD on Monday night, it was veryyy sensitive so felt good but was also hard getting into a comfortable position! Buttt 38+3 today and feeling ready and excited😬

Wow @Vil10 it could happen any day! And great result on the pregnancy discount. Take advantage of that as long as you can i say!

Off work for summer now after a whole 8 days in 😂😂😂 but nice because H is still off until Monday so we've had a big family hiking day out today. Very wholesome and lovely. What have we turned into?!
