Hiya girls! πŸ‘‹πŸΎ
Balls deep in the 4 month sleep regression so I'm fooked πŸ€ͺ
Hope you're all ok ☺️

paintfairy · 05/07/2022 13:59

Still behind. Tomorrow. Tomorrow is catch up day! I'm so tired. Not sleeping and seem to have a billion things running round my head. Getting uncomfortable now......
So @bez91 the consultant always rings me after the scan and is booked in to do so. No idea why it's that way and sometimes there's quite a gap between the 2.
She called yesterday. Upshot was- if baby was 9th centile she would strongly recommend induction at 39 weeks. But she's 10th. So can't argue it. I said I would rather wait until my due date at least and book it for after. She said that's fine but maybe 40+2 or something and not too late. She could have booked it over the phone but said my midwife could also do it, who i was seeing today. So I left it and thought I'd do it today after talking to her. I was hoping it was the one I saw the last 3 times. On going today (different midwife πŸ™„) it appears I need a scan if going over my due date (she never said this yesterday to me, but it's on the notes) so midwife booked that for 40+1. I'm also booked to see midwife again at 39+1 and can have a sweep if I want then. But she didn't book the induction (said we can do it next time) leaving me slightly concerned I won't get in! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ She's given me some essential oils to sniff to help the baby drop (clary sage, frankincense, lavender combo) in the mean time. She's head down but not low, and still in her funny sideways position. Which to me makes induction too early likely to end badly as I just don't think she's ready?

Really need a nap but now I'm off out..... πŸ™ˆ

And @Minster2012 the people peering at Bronte are really annoying me! 🀬 Leave the effing baby alone!

Juno231 · 05/07/2022 15:11

@Minster2012 these people waking B up have me fuming! My BP can't take this πŸ˜‚. I don't really have any meaningful pics of the house work to share - there's a vid of the loft conversion from the other week I can see if I can send you on insta!

@paintfairy Clary sage is the one that can start contractions so I'm surprised they gave it to you already! I hope baby girl pre-empts any induction efforts though πŸ’

@vil10 I loved your baby shower pics! Looked nicer than most weddings!

Sorry I am being so rubbish at responding, I'm just too knackered and busy with work and the house renovations.

I had the birth centre tour last night and OH and I loved it, it was very useful!
Today was my 34 week midwife appointment and all is fine. Baby is still head down, butt to front but not at all engaged yet. To be expected but I'm ready for it to come out sooner rather than later lol.

My friend had her baby after 3 days of labour, hormonal drips etc and eek I really hope I don't end up with a labour like hers! She ended up bed bound with an epidural and it resulted in forceps, episiotomy, a tear on top of that and some nerve damage to the baby's face which may or may not be permanent :( I didn't even know it was something to that could happen! Baby then struggled to latch on for days and they said it was probably due to trauma... what a way to enter the world hey.

InkyPaper · 05/07/2022 15:46

Hello everyone! Just got back to the UK after a long weekend in the fiery pits of hell that was Rome. There's so much to see there and it was really cool, but also the 37 degree heat every day nearly finished me off πŸ™ˆ never thought I'd be so glad to be back in the nice and cool UK!

I am way late to the party here but hurray for a full breastfeed @DKDK123! Excellent news!

@bez91 crotch gremlins πŸ˜‚ glad they're both feeling better!

@paintfairy glad your hallway is painted! Huh, I did not know that about bagless vacs, mine is bagless...I may need to clean it later. This is all sounding very complicated with all the scans and appointments πŸ™ˆ

@Soph0105 cleaning carpets is just crap. I'm constantly cleaning them because of the cats and it is just the worst.

@Vil10 omg she crashed into your car?! That's the last thing you need right now πŸ™ˆ Glad you enjoyed your baby shower - the pics looked lovely on insta

@Minster2012 clearly you need to work on your resting murder face to keep the pram pokers at bay!

larrythelizard · 05/07/2022 15:53

I've been awol sorry, a weekend away, a very tantrummy 3 year old which I'm finding difficult to deal with as well as crampy which makes me grumpy and tired. DH was amazing this weekend with what he booked etc but is doing my head in this week, I am now taking to setting him daily tasks as he apparently is incapable of using his eyes, brain, or even consulting the massive to-do list that is written down!!

@Juno231 I saw the fox in your house, cheeky fucker! Wow your friend really went through the mill, poor lady!

40weeks sounds ok @paintfairy and they can't be that concerned if they haven't booked your induction in just yet? Which is definitely very good! Have you queried if they're concerned about her position?

Sending you love and solidarity @becarefuloutthere I promise it does end...!

I get very shooty pains @Somatronic which I've assumed is round ligament pain. I think the correct rule of thumb is that if you're at all worried, ring the the MW and chat it through.

He's a cheeky bugger @Minster2012 (funny though!)

I found the implant zapped my libido @Soph0105 @bez91 but then I think the pill did too. I think I'll go coil but plan is for DH to get the snip, 2 will be plenty for us!

Anyway you can keep that HV @DKDK123, she sounds fantastic!

Prying my eyes open to say a quick hello! Baby girl is 4 weeks old now, and man what a blur it’s been. I am baffled as to how those of you who already have children are possibly managing to take care of toddlers and newborns at the same time.

have managed to get her to take one nap in her bassinet every morning for the past week and praying to all the gods that this continues. Nights have been tricky though. Especially with DH back at work. Can anyone enlighten me as to how you’re mean to successfully put a baby down β€œDrOwSy BuT aWaKe” and not just have them scream themselves silly? Also night burping?! She is obviously taking in air as she feeds (I have a mega fast let down so am basically water boarding her when she first latches on) but then if I do a thorough burping at night she goes from a lovely milk drunk baby to a wide awake screaming gremlin. But if I don’t burp her then she will eventually get terrible trapped wind pain. Ahh so confusing.

whatwonder · 05/07/2022 16:03

Oh and a huge congrats to @feliznavidad2 ! Hope you and baby girl are doing well!!

@paintfairy @Juno231 @Vil10 can’t believe you guys are up next! It’s all gone by so quickly hasn’t it!

larrythelizard · 05/07/2022 16:07

Hi @whatwonder lovely to hear from you. With DS the whole drowsy but awake was a thing that came waaaaay later - at 4 weeks it was pure survival and nothing more! Can't help re wind sorry as he wasn't a windy baby.

OP posts:
DKDK123 · 05/07/2022 16:48

@Minster2012 I love Xs reply to the nosey woman, you've taught him well πŸ˜‚

@Somatronic pregnancy is full of various aches and pains but give the midwife a call just to put your mind at ease that's what they're there for, they may invite you in for a quick check or may just chat over the phone but they'll be happy to help.

@becarefuloutthere sending hugs and wine by the truck load as sleep regressions are brutal!

@Juno231 your poor friend what a labour! And poor baby too, I hope the nerve damage isn't permanent.

@larrythelizard I wish I could keep her but she got drafted back in temporarily full time after mat leave because they were so short staffed. She said she only agreed to do a month of it to help out then just wants to do relief work. Pity as she was great, I think because she's just had her own little one she's more in touch with the clients situations.

@whatwonder wish I could help but there won't be anything you're doing wrong, some babies are just genuinely more content than others and will go down by themselves happily while others are contact nappers and need the comfort of you and scream the place down the min you try put them down themselves. But things do get better with time, the same with the winding that'll start to get easier too with age. I echo larrythelizard, in the beginning it really is just pure survival, roll with it, relish in the good times a day remind yourself the bad times will pass.

DD got her jags this morn. She loved the meds that were given orally and cried when the nurse finished the vial and she wanted more πŸ˜‚ She screamed the place down after both jags tho. I was very proud that I managed to pacify her by whipping a boob out. Unfortunately my smugness was short lived as that trick only worked for 10mins and she's spent the rest of the day a crabbit little monster, I feel cheated that she didn't get the memo about being drowsy! πŸ™„

Minster's 9th Side Car - who runs the world? Girls! (Where are all the boys?!)
larrythelizard · 05/07/2022 17:56

Yep @DKDK123 agree with your pic, I was just talking to my sister about my 12 week old niece (she's having a bit of a tough time atm) and how it's silly how we expect all babies to be the same when adults are not - we all have such different needs!

OP posts:
becarefuloutthere · 05/07/2022 18:01

@larrythelizard @DKDK123 thank you πŸ™πŸΎ love that post hun, so so true!

BellatrixK · 05/07/2022 18:24

20 week scan all done and all good! Everything looks healthy.

Only slight issue is that one of his measurements was on the 97 centile- the others were 50th ish. They want me to go for a GTT test just in case he’s big because of gestational diabetes. Hopefully he’s just big! DH and his brothers are all really tall and stocky, so hoping it’s that!

I will catch up properly later, but so sorry that some of you are struggling. I think that @DKDK123 β€˜s picture perfectly sums up how different all the babies are. And lots of you have had/are having second babies, so it must get easier πŸ˜‚

Minster's 9th Side Car - who runs the world? Girls! (Where are all the boys?!)
InkyPaper · 05/07/2022 19:12

@BellatrixK glad the scan went well! 🀞🏻 It's not gestational diabetes and is just genetics 🀞🏻🀞🏻

becarefuloutthere · 05/07/2022 19:21

@BellatrixK that's great news on the scan! Good luck at the GTT I had one and didn't have GD even tho I was convinced I would!

larrythelizard · 05/07/2022 19:29

Great news @BellatrixK - better to get tested but sounds like genetics. DH and I apparently make big babies too, this one has always measured big!

Also hmm I think you just forget the hard bits and go again for no 2 @BellatrixK - although clearly not entirely forgotten as I'm definitely not as excited this time round!

Minster2012 · 05/07/2022 20:57

Phew whadda day

Right ladies how goes it??? I'm here with a non alcoholic grapefruit beer joining you preggers ones again cos otherwise I'd actually be an alcoholic.
Anyways!

@Somatronic growing a human is hard (it's a walk in the park compared to raising one mind you) so I think you should def speak to someone. It could be sciatica maybe? X has clearly heard me telling DH/parents/in laws enough as he always asks "should Bronte be awake or asleep?" As he knows we try keep her awake at certain points & I've asked him to help tickle her feet for instance or obviously not impersonate a fire truck when she's sleeping πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

@becarefuloutthere sending wine, hugs & caffeine. It will pass. 🀞🏻😳

@paintfairy honestly today someone PEERED effectively down my boobs as she was asleep in the carrier on me. "Awww I love newborns" yeah well I'd love your face outta my boobs thanks. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ<need to work on my resting bitch face> I'm sure you kill be fine with the induction & it won't be needed anyway they'd get you booked in, @Juno231 can give you more tips as well with all the smelly stuff i literally didn't hear of any of this!

@Juno231 you are at the stage that I was at, "I'm done now" be careful what you wish for πŸ˜‚. Your poor friend & baby that doesn't sound good, I guess they won't be able to tell on the nerves for ages but everything crossed for her, sending all the good healing thoughts for your friend too 🀞🏻

@InkyPaper saw your story on Insta & have to say I really wouldn't deal well with preggers in that heat, I keep thinking it's too sticky here atm πŸ˜‚

@whatwonder heyyyy hang in there. Both my children are windy babies & it's a friggin nightmare for burping at night. I have mixed success with burping (I use quite a vigorous technique which is like "stirring the pot" & often means they go sleepy again) then really quickly start to Pat the bottom to encourage the sleep mode again, other times trying to give a tiny bit more milk to get that drunkness again or other times it can take us upto an hour to settle to sleep again after feeding. Agree with others, it's early for putting down awake but drowsy likely won't come yet but you can start to learn the signs & start to catch it maybe? I'm lucky I think I know now when she's ok to put down awake & she'll drop off (like tonight) or if she needs more help but we'll still have horror nights. We do things like black out, consistent side settling, loud white noise & like you say napping in her next to me or cot as much as possible. Try side settling if you haven't, and give a really good hard action 😜way harder than you think πŸ˜‚you've done amazing if you are getting some good naps in her own space, keep going πŸ₯°

@BellatrixK lovely! And though better for these things to be checked out I'm sure he's all good 😊also make big babies here!!

@larrythelizard some of the hard bits are branded on my mind 😬still did it again though πŸ™ˆ

Really need to be remembering that crotch gremlins too, the thing is I always forget these amazing sayings!!

Well plumber came today, which entertained X until he went downstairs & went quiet whilst I spoke to the guy about how he thought what he'd been asked to do by the shower pump company to validate our warranty & fix the pump was unnecessary & would actually make it worse when hooked up. Great. So unnecessary work we have to pay for which might bust the new one again & not be covered under warranty. Hmmm. In the mean time X was playing nicely. Or so I thought. Suspiciously quiet.

Note to self. Don't forget you've left the kinetic sand unattended inside.

Franklydear · 06/07/2022 03:53

Ladies, very happy to say cd 1, 48 days cycles, doctor said until I get hot flashes there’s no need to worry about menopause , and that it does run in families, so as my mum was in her 50s, I probably have some time

Minster2012 · 06/07/2022 07:36

@Franklydear well that's something then, I'm pleased it's resolution though

Oh and didn't reply to @DKDK123 yesterday I'm sooooo annoyed they missed the sleepy bit out of DDs jabs, how frustrating!! Is she better now? Is DS back now?

Minster2012 · 06/07/2022 08:05

Oh and plumber update since last night (read that bit first)....now no hot water in any tap /bath or shower. Where there was hot water before. AMAZING. Not. Ffs

Soph0105 · 06/07/2022 08:18

I'm sorry about your friend @Juno231 what a mess! I'm quite grateful my induction didn't really go anywhere so just went straight to the section, no messing around with forceps 😳

Ahhhhhh @whatwonder congratulations on surviving this far! I agree with @larrythelizard that drowsy but awake comes much later, probs somewhere around 4 months? But I struggled with a fast let down too and what worked for me was to get that initial spray channelled into the Haakaa and then put PTSD on the boob once the worst of it was over! Helped me build up a nice stash of milk that way too. And it all settled down by about 12 weeks, so it won't last forever (but it feels like it right now I'm sure)

Yay congratulations @BellatrixK hopefully just a massive chunk of a baby πŸ˜‚πŸ€žπŸ»

I'm so sorry @DKDK123 i feel like we promised you a drowsy jab baby and horribly underdelivered πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I think the carpet stain is ok (I know you're all desperate for an instalment...) I can still see it because I know it's there, but my pernickety mother who sees every flaw did not spot it yesterday πŸ™ŒπŸ» obviously did not point it out either πŸ˜‚

DKDK123 · 06/07/2022 09:02

@minster2012 she seems back to her usual self this morning. She was up quite a bit during the night not screaming just whimpering, think she was just feeling a bit sorry for herself and wanting cuddles so it was a restless night of little sleep but felt a million times more bearable than a night of actual screaming. DS is still at his Grans house, his big cousin is staying there just now too so he's in his element and is going to stay till Friday morn πŸ₯³ And have asked MIL to watch DD for a few hours tonight so DH and I can go out for a wee cheeky dinner date (first time DD will have been left with anyone so it won't be a late night just dinner and back again) so today is shaping up to be a good day 😁

Somatronic · 06/07/2022 09:31

@Minster2012 oh I'm so sorry about your plumbing woes. It's a nightmare isn't it? I hope you get all sorted soon.

@Soph0105 I'm glad the carpet came through the ordeal unscathed! πŸ˜€

@Franklydear that's good news - and from your post on the Bus it sounds as though you're in good hands with that doctor which is so important.

My pains went away yesterday but I turned over in bed last night and felt an absolutely excruciating pain for a very short time on my left side. This morning it's hurting me a bit so if it continues I might ring the midwives. I always doubt myself whether I'm sick (mad stuff from my childhood) so I keep worrying about it instead of just calling the midwives πŸ˜–

I'm living for the Westminster shenanigans. I couldn't believe it when I saw that Johnson was appointing replacements for Javid and Sunak instead of just resigning like a normal person. What an absolute clown πŸ˜‚It's insane to watch. I work in a similar institution but it's much more boring and lacks the circus-like atmosphere of British politics right now. Bravo.

Franklydear · 06/07/2022 09:33

@Minster2012 first time in ages I've been happy to get af, also explains the last couple of days illness, pms on steroids it seems, hopefully the scan will tell us more, flow started decent so not my start stop spotting, hoping for a good clear out, only shame no swimming today, I am quite floored, and having to spend all day, and fortune n trains today taking D's to the close by uni for music school camp

bez91 · 06/07/2022 10:43

Oh @becarefuloutthere 😫 I remember that being the toughest time the damn 4 month sleep regression but don't remember exactly why. Sending love and caffeine ❀️

That seems a sensible approach @paintfairy and definitely ask about different induction options if the time comes. That's good that the MW will give you an early sweep, mine said they couldn't do that until past due date until noted by the consultant so that's an option for you

@Juno231 the fox wow! Cheeky bugger though, they do say they're more daring down south πŸ˜† glad the birth centre tour was useful!

@larrythelizard yes libido is one of the reasons I want to avoid hormonal completely apart from it also seems to suppress my feelings. Opting for condoms for now and hopefully no accidents! Oh no do you think DA senses a change coming?

@whatwonder definitely what @DKDK123 photo says and @larrythelizard on pure survival! Z is 8 weeks and we have no 'consistent' routine as yet, doesn't sleep in his cot once a day and I'm just going with it for now. Last time round I lost the plot thinking DD needs to sleep at X, Y, Z time in X location and this time Z just needs to fit round us. Saying that DD I did get into a good routine of doing all as per the book, she's 4 now and still wakes through the night so it did me no favours being stressed about it

@BellatrixK great news on the scan, good to rule out the GD but it might even itself out anyway!

@Somatronic definitely worth getting checked to put your mind at ease! More shenanigans than Love Island, it's ridiculous and embarrassing

Yayyy to AF @Franklydear

Dropped DD off at school for a settling in session, lucky there is 3 from her nursery going and they've put them all in the same class so they know each other. They all went in holding hands 😭 had a lump in my throat despite me having a frozen heart πŸ˜† must dash, Z is straining, think he needs a πŸ’© and probably my assistance πŸ˜‚
