Brilliant news @TFMinx Smile

sarahj878 · 14/09/2022 13:21

@CurlyNo2 feel for you, I have been suffering PGP too and am on crutches for it, it’s very painful! I’m getting movement in the same place you are and was told it was baby’s bum too!

sarahj878 · 14/09/2022 13:22

Is anyone getting a 4d scan? Thinking of getting one this weekend

Ccatalina · 14/09/2022 13:29

@sarahj878

Aw how lovely, I hear they are really worth it from people I've spoken too! X

greenerfingers · 14/09/2022 13:31

I think PGP really intensifies at this stage with all the ligament loosening and the weight. Mine has been manageable through massage and avoiding certain movements all pregnancy but this last week it's been horrendous. That is my fault too as I've been squatting and sitting on the floor to build furniture etc 🤦🏽‍♀️.

Bubblegum20 · 14/09/2022 14:14

Sorry to hear @CurlyNo2 that's you've got PGP hopefully with some painkillers and rest it eases up a bit for you!

I'm also having a surprise baby, I had one with my previous pregnancy as well and all my symptoms have been the same this time

TFMinx · 14/09/2022 18:06

Thanks all Smile I'm see my midwife tomorrow for a routine appointment then got my final two b12 jabs to look forward to Sad just 8 weeks and hopefully she'll be here safe and sound

CurlyNo2 · 14/09/2022 19:31

@Bubblegum20 I have a son already and I feel like this pregnancy has been very different too. I don’t know why, but I just have a feeling. It’ll probably be wrong 🤣

Oh how exciting that some of you have only 8 weeks left. I will have 10 weeks to wait and only 7 weeks till my maternity leave. It’s becoming a bit of a struggle now especially with the PGP. I’m desk based so sitting all day is actually making things worse.

sarahj878 · 14/09/2022 20:25

@CurlyNo2 I’m desk based too and physio, dr and midwife recommended because of it that I be signed off. It definitely was getting a lot worse at work. Hope you’re able to find something that helps with your pain, I’ve been doing some exercises physio recommended but they’ve not really helped

CurlyNo2 · 14/09/2022 20:33

Really? I’m going to see how long I can persevere for as I have so much to finish before I leave for mat leave plus they haven’t got a replacement for me yet. I split my time in the office and at home.

Do you mind me asking what exercises the physio recommended?

sarahj878 · 14/09/2022 22:19

@CurlyNo2 its a bit hard to explain them sorry but are gentle stretches, some are when standing at a worktop, some lying on side and some on a birthing ball. I’m getting the pain on one side. I’ve got my next appt with physio this week, has the midwife referred you? If not I’d see if you can get seen I was impressed how quickly I got an appt x

CurlyNo2 · 15/09/2022 07:09

The midwife told me the physio won’t see me. If it gets worse I’m to go to the maternity unit at the hospital.

No worries about the exercises. I’ll see if I can find any on YouTube.

ab03 · 15/09/2022 11:26

Just wondering whether there are any kind of movements we should worry about? Sometimes I feel like the baby is having a full body spasm or something and I can't think what on earth they're doing!

Elle1709 · 15/09/2022 15:29

@ab03 I've noticed those types of movements as well, feels like a spasm or shiver. I was wondering about it as well, but all my checks and heart rate checks have been normal so I'm thinking its just nothing to worry about x

Bramblecrumble22 · 15/09/2022 17:06

@ab03 I felt this a few weeks ago.a few times. Like it was having a seizure, and there is some epilepsy in the family. Then I read an article that this was a common fear and there are all sorts of reasons, including baby getting a bit tangled in the umbilical cord and untangling themselves. Just to look out for a change in the frequency.

How is everyone getting on driving? I stopped driving last pregnancy, in the second trimester due to headaches and anxiety. However, I could walk or bus to work and now the only way is a half hour drive. This week I've felt much more uncomfortable and it was actually quite distracting this morning. I have 3 weeks planned at work left and I just don't know if it's safe for me to be driving. I took a sick day on Monday because my sleep was so bad and I didn't think I could concentrate on driving. After work yesterday I slept so well.

greenerfingers · 15/09/2022 18:21

@ab03 I've seen a few threads on here over the years describing the same. All was well and it was just the baby having a shuddering reflex. I've been getting it too this last week. X

ab03 · 15/09/2022 18:42

Thank you for the reassurance, I have just never heard people mention movement like that, people usually just talk about kicks and hiccups!

@Bramblecrumble22 I also worry about driving, I find it completely wipes me out, but so does the walk to the bus stop... At the moment the bus feels safer so I'm glad I have that option, but as I get bigger I think I'll have to drive as the waddle will get more difficult! Hoping to be able to mostly work from home in the last couple of weeks.

Eryr22 · 15/09/2022 21:05

Hey everyone,
First time posting here but I’ve been lurking for a while!

I’m due Nov 1st with my first. Had a growth scan Monday and they said she’s 5lb 1oz and I’m 1/5 engaged!

@ab03 I’ve also felt these movements. They really do feel like a seizure! Sounds as though they’re common though!

I feel fine driving, but did finish work 9.5 weeks before my due date and it has been bliss! I was feeling so sore at the end of each day (groin area) and so, so stressed. It’s been lovely having some me time before she arrives!

I’m currently packing my hospital bag. Can’t believe it’s come around so fast. Any tips?!

Ccatalina · 16/09/2022 01:39

@Eryr22

Hiya,

Im beginning to gather bits and pieces for my hospital bag as well.

Here's a couple of little things I've been told about, that I hadn't really considered:

A hand held fan (plus batteries/ charging cable).

Lip balm

A LOT of snacks

Flannels

Chewing gum

Hair bands

Hope this helps, it is my first as well so I may be completely off the mark! X

Elle1709 · 16/09/2022 06:27

What is everyone's visiting policy now at their hospital? I've been feeling so worried about the stay after birth on the postnatal ward, I'm not sure why but I've really started to focus on it. I txt my midwife and health visitor a few times but they didn't get back to me. I managed to speak to someone on the ward who explained a few things but then she said that birth partners are only allowed to stay/visit for two hours each day due to covid restrictions. This has made me feel even worse, as its my first and I already have so much worry around the birth I would have really benefited from having a familiar face with me for longer than two hours. Its seems awful that my partner will only have this amount of time per day to bond with the baby as well. Other hospitals near me have 12 hour visiting from 8am-8pm. I was even considering changing hospitals but I don't know if its too late in the day now at 33 weeks

sarahj878 · 16/09/2022 07:00

After last time, top of my list to pack is an extra long charging cable for hospital bag, headphones, big knickers and a comfy outfit for coming home, pyjamas or nightdress with buttons so can feed easily if choosing to breastfeed, some flip flops or slippers to walk to bathroom in, and a cooling water mist spray.

sarahj878 · 16/09/2022 07:01

@Elle1709 I’d been thinking about this too last night. I know one of the local hospitals to me only allow one person at a time and I want to be sure my son can come in with husband. I’m going to try to find out out visiting policy today but I guess things could even change between now and November with covid and flu rates etc.

@Elle1709 would you consider a home birth if you are low risk?

Eryr22 · 16/09/2022 12:29

Thank you! Headphones are a very good idea!

@Elle1709 our visiting hours are 10-6pm for the first birth partner, a second person can visit 2-4pm. This is only recent though (last month maybe?) so maybe they will increase your visiting hours soon?

Cocobeau · 16/09/2022 13:28

Hi ladies. Sorry to hear some of you are having a rough time of it but not long now until we get to hold our little ones. I hate to be that asshole, but for the most part I feel totally fine. Other than a few pains which I just work through, I'm still able to go work out, etc. My biggest problem is the pressure on my bladder every time I stand up. I swear I feel him prod it sometimes. I must go to the loo about 40 times a day.

Bump feels like it's huge, but right on point according to the checks with the midwife. I am really starting to feel like I'm going to miss it when he's born though, I've got quite fond of it. Have any of you caught people staring at you yet? I get it quite often now, just natural curiosity I suppose but I find it quite funny when you spot a kid suddenly start staring at your belly. You can almost see the cogs turning in their heads.
