Starting a new thread due to last one being full. Such a valuable place to share our journey! Not going to tag anyone in case they don't want to be tagged.

Marching towards or in the beginning of the second trimester!

Are any of you planning on having your placenta encapsulated?
I did it with my first and will be doing it again this time x

LolaJ87 · 23/06/2022 17:48

Thanks so much @Jaaxe and @lovesT!

LovesT you might have thought that was long but it was really helpful as well haha. So much to think about! I think I'll get a car seat soon so I've loads of time to fit it and figure it out, before I'm massively pregnant and panicking about getting it into my car.

buzz91 · 23/06/2022 18:38

I’ve been looking at marketplace today, I still have my pram but the wheels were going weird before my dd stopped using it, so I can’t decide whether to buy a new one.

I’m due 18th and last day is 18th Nov, it’ll give me a week if I go early like I did with my last, and tbh I already feel like I’m zoning out from work now I have an end in sight!

PinkFizz1 · 23/06/2022 18:39

Just had our private gender scan and as fully expected, baby is a GIRL! 💗

Going to be honest it’s going to take me a bit of time to get my head around it, but I already feel even more connected to her(!) knowing the sex so I’ll get there. Now I can start the real buying!! DPs credit card is going to take a hit that’s for sure 🤣

TiredMomma90 · 23/06/2022 19:00

Hi All,
I’ve been loitering a while but first time posting. Congratulations to you all 🥰
We had our 12 week scan today turns out I’m 13 + 2 so due 27th December with our 3rd baby. Me and my husband have different predictions with gender going by our scan. What do you guy think? I don’t understand the nub or skull theory 😂

@PinkFizz1 congratulations to you 😀 how has your pregnancy been so far symptoms wise may i ask? Have you thought of any names for her yet x

AG96 · 23/06/2022 19:09

@PinkFizz1 congratulations! So exciting to find out. Makes it feel more real 😁

I've got the morhercare orb from my first 8 years ago, it's parent or front facing with an extendable handle for my 6'5 other half. We just need to get a newer hopefully second hand maxi cosi car seat as mine is out of life which works with the travel system
Last time I was due 23rd April and had to leave mid Feb as I just couldn't cope any longer so took some leave (and then had to paint our whole house that we had just bought 😂). Work don't know yet, but I'm due 16th Dec so plan to leave no later than mid November. I still have 20 days holiday to use before I leave but I'm doing 2.5 peoples job for less money than I should be on so I'm holding off telling them as they're clearly not concerned about looking after people who have been there for 17 years!!

AG96 · 23/06/2022 20:06

Do newborns need a carrycot style pram or as long as it lays flat it's okay? Feel like an idiot but genuinely no idea 😂

OP posts:
tasha4eva10 · 23/06/2022 20:08

@AG96 I didn't have that with my first but for a while she did look so uncomfortable 😳. I will be having that style with this baby though so I'd say go for carrycot if you can

PinkFizz1 · 23/06/2022 20:51

@AG96 @TeamBluex3 Thank you! 🥰

@TeamBluex3 It’s been fine so far, no sickness in the first trimester (although I did feel sick but never was) loads of tiredness and sore boobs. Went totally off coffee and had Major orange juice cravings in the first trimester then one day about 13wks I woke up and fancied a coffee again and haven’t had orange juice since 🤣

PinkFizz1 · 23/06/2022 20:51

Also we do have a name yes but we’re not telling our friends/family until she’s here!

AG96 · 23/06/2022 20:58

@tasha4eva10 the carrycot does look more comfortable will have to see what I can find. Thanks for the advice 😊

Hi @TiredMomma90 welcome to the group! I’m guessing boy but I’m not very good at these and usually get them wrong 🤣😃

@PinkFizz1 congrats on a baby girl!! Baby girl shopping is the best x

Ive been really exhausted last couple of days, thought it was just pregnancy taking it’s toll but then started with a cough so I’ve just done a lateral flow and it’s positive 😩

BuchananBaby · 23/06/2022 21:57

@LolaJ87 I joined extended rear facing fb group to research car seats a while ago 🙈 infant carriers- the ones with travel systems are all tested really well as they have to be under the law however any other car seats have minimum testing they need to do to be legal and tbh it isn't much. We used an infant carrier until DD was 1 and she still uses that in my mums car and is easy to move about. Me and DP have a joie stages (suitable from birth) in each car it is belt fitted but it's fab! Think it was £120 each but it will do her until she's 7 and rear faces until she's atleast 4.

Apologies that was so long! In short any infant carrier is fine they're all tested the same but anything else make sure you check they're plus tested 😊

BuchananBaby · 23/06/2022 22:04

@PinkFizz1 congratulations 🥰❤️ omg you're the same as me! I go off coffee when pregnant thought it was a weird aversion 🙈😂

@AG96 I think some prams lie flat and are suitable from birth some are only suitable from 6 months but you can buy cocoons for the ones suitable from birth so they're more cosy 🥰

@TiredMomma90 congratulations 🥳

Aww @Jaaxe I hope you don't feel too bad 😩

lovesT · 23/06/2022 22:44

@LoLolaJ87 glad it was helpful 😊 as was just mentioned look into rear facing for as long as possible as it's the safest way. My daughter is nearly 2 and a half and still happily rear facing and will be for a while.

@PinkFizz1 that's lovely 🥰❤️ makes me excited to find out next month!

Angelchops30 · 24/06/2022 07:57

First time poster here! We have a dating scan this morning, it's a little on the late side as I think by my calculations I'm about 14 weeks but we cannot wait to see our tiny little human. The midwife recons 23/12 as a date but we'll see if this morning changes that. Hope your all doing well and have an awesome day

Tofu35 · 24/06/2022 08:11

Good luck for this morning @Angelchops30! How are you feeling? I was so nervous before mine!

Eeee congratulations on finding out it's a wee girl @PinkFizz1! I went completely off baked potatoes in my first trimester but had a proper craving for one yesterday, it was delicious :)

hopefulsunshine11 · 24/06/2022 08:15

Girls I'm in a panic again!!! I've been using this for the last week, I had no idea I couldn't use it! Until it caught my eye this morning! I'm now terrified I've done damage as still getting those shooting pains. Who would have thought a setting spray??? Has anyone else used something like this. What should I do? I'm getting ready for work and sitting in tears. My midwife is on holiday.

hopefulsunshine11 · 24/06/2022 08:19

This is the ingredient!

Due December 2022 thread 3
lifechanginglemoncake · 24/06/2022 08:36

Try not to panic @hopefulsunshine11
Which ingredient isn't safe?

It's incredibly likely that all over the world pregnant women have used this or something similar every day and nothing bad has happened. There may be a very small chance or there may just be issues with it not having been tested to be safe.

Try to see it as a 'now I know so I won't use it' rather than something that has caused harm.

The shooting pains are almost certainly completely normal. I get them too. It's everything stretching and moving and due to hormones to help that.

Maybe make a note to speak to the midwife at your next appointment so she can reassure you? You're doing a great job by being this diligent.

hopefulsunshine11 · 24/06/2022 08:54

I'm not sure, I think it's the propylene glycol or some sort of paraben.

I think it's because I'm a really anxious person and the pains started a few days after I started using it. I honestly Google and read everything I eat or use but never thought about make up before.

I keep thinking the same, thousands of women must use things like this and others without realising surely!?. There's also women I know who have smoked and drank through pregnancy and their babies are fine but I am just so scared something goes wrong with my baby as he's all I've wanted my whole life and I never thought this day would come. It still doesn't feel real to me at all!

It makes me worse as as lovely as they are my in laws keep buying stuff and I'm only 17 weeks, after my 16 week scan they just went mental lol. I appreciate it but think it's still too soon 🙈🙈.

Thanks for your reply, I'll maybe give the other midwife in the team an email just for reassurance.

lifechanginglemoncake · 24/06/2022 09:07

I totally get it @hopefulsunshine11 - the anxiety is so real.

Honestly I think the make up thing will be absolutely fine. Like you say, people all over the world use all kinds of products, drugs, food that probably would be against guidelines but things are completely fine so the chance of a problem from this is really tiny. Doesn't stop your mind fixating but at least you can tell yourself it's anxiety.

I find it helpful to recognise when it's anxiety talking - doesn't make it go away but helps to identify that's what it is.

I haven't started sorting out all the stuff we have stored from my son yet because it feels too soon. I'll have to start at some point as my energy to do it will get less and less towards the end!

Have you considered asking your parents/in-laws to keep the stuff for a bit longer? Say you appreciate it so much but you want to get a bit further along before you start receiving things so you have more peace of mind?

Are you getting any mental health support for the anxiety? It might help. Hope you feel a bit better today.

hopefulsunshine11 · 24/06/2022 10:07

I've had a further look and apparently it's the retinol ingredient. I am assuming it's the same in that it can be low risk but because it contains it then not to use at all.

I have actually seen a psychologist and I'm closed to him now but it was helping. I was feeling quite calm but once I got the second scan and it felt a bit more real as I was adamant I'd see no heartbeat etc I've got more anxious thinking something will happen.

They are keeping the stuff at their house we don't have anything in ours at the moment. I have said to DP and he agrees.

Will you start sorting it out after the 20 week mark do you think? I never know the best times to start preparing for certain things.
