Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

So went into hospital today to get baby checked cause she was unusually quiet and still is but they are happy and everything coming back fine. They did my fundal height which is way of the chart compared to a few weeks ago , basically measuring 4 weeks ahead then it should be so off for a growth scan again Monday.

however midwife talked about inductions and how they have changed from the pessery and gel to the balloon method ?! They insert a special balloon up there and that makes your cervix dilate and then the balloon either then drops out or they remove it and then break your waters. I can’t find this on the nhs website . Anyone been told about this method ?

Brightonbelle87 · 06/01/2023 17:09

Agree about feeling apprehensive about an induction, reading people's experiences really helps. Hope everyone in this weekend has a good experience with theirs.

I'm in Ireland and the sense here really is to let nature take its course, my family in England are asking why I'm not demanding interventions but I don't need them just yet! Not sure if others feel like there's lots of interventions in England? I'm English so wonder if my experience at my local hospital in Herts would have been different.

The worst thing about being over due is all the well meaning messages asking for updates. Just makes me feel like I'm late for a deadline at work! Not sure if others find it as annoying! 😂

@Brightonbelle87 my experience in being overdue is the same! I'm 40+5 today by NHS dates (39+1 by my own) and the number of messages over the last week asking where baby is and when she'll arrive is way more than i expected! i personally am not in a huge rush to have her out (feeling fine in myself, very easy pregnancy) but the pressure from family is real!

MrsUSAinUK · 06/01/2023 17:47

Correction - 39+6 by my own!! my head is on backwards today.

H44123 · 06/01/2023 18:16

I felt the same really about baby coming when they are ready then I started hearing about inductions and how most people said they really hurt which made me think I will try the sweep in 2 weeks to try avoid an induction if possible.

Today I feel a lot of pressure down below, like shooting pains if he moves and similar to like a period type ache. Sorry TMI but I also can’t get off the toilet. I wouldn’t say pain as such but today is the first day I have felt uncomfortable. Im guessing it’s because he has moved into position and I’m now experiencing BH and lightning pains but with it being first pregnancy I have no clue! I’m scared he might come soon but scared I have to have these pains for weeks to come 🤷🏻‍♀️

Kerryw93 · 06/01/2023 18:25

I know there is a few people saying about induction here and are worried about induction. I just wanted to share a positive experience about induction. I had 1 pessary and little lady arrived 1 hour 55 mins later. No complications during delivery and I was aloud home a few hours afterwards. . That was 8 years ago.
I guess all births are scary really lol
Xxx

Jusmakingit · 06/01/2023 22:28

Since going to get checked earlier everything feels very uncomfortable and heavy below my belly button . My back aches and everything is so achey 😣

Brightonbelle87 · 06/01/2023 22:43

@Jusmakingit sounds like early labour or maybe a reaction to your check up? I've bled for a day and been quite sore after the last 2 internal checks. Did they say baby's head was down?

@H44123 we literally have the same thing happening! I was told it's all my body getting ready and to try to stay positive. But it's hard to when your entire pelvis is caining! Heat pads are really helping.

@MrsUSAinUK glad I'm not the only one! Feel like responding 'oh that? Yeah I did that last week. Oh did I not say?' 😆

@Kerryw93 that's really reassuring! Both my SILs have recommended induction to me, and that pretty much every birth is going to be long and painful so to not worry if I need it, I need it!

I didn’t have an internal check just monitored for reduced movements but she was pressing around to see baby’s position. She said head down, not engaged but laying really low so I wonder if she was maybe a bit to forceful and baby’s moved further down. Hopefully be better tomorrow with some rest but just sooo uncomfortable 😣

Kerryw93 · 06/01/2023 22:57

@Brightonbelle87 , absolutely agree woth your sister in laws. Every birth is painful and takes recovering. If you need it then you need it. When is your due date again?

I've called the hospital today and refused the ECV , I've decided for ELCS , I will have a phone consultation on Monday about getting me booked in. They said they have put me down as urgent. So hopefully next week she may be here! They said 24-48 hours notice.

LA9610 · 07/01/2023 03:23

Thanks everyone!!

@TokenGinger he was 9lbs 14oz so although smaller than they estimated definitely within the +/- 10% margin of error they mentioned. Had I gone to 41 weeks he def would have been over 10lbs!

We stayed in the hospital for 2 nights with my partner sleeping on the most uncomfortable chair 🙈 then went home around lunchtime today. All in 48hrs in hosp including the time in triage under observation but unfortunately we are back in this evening. At midnight we noticed bright red blood mucus in Evan’s nappy. I couldn’t find anything online about that being normal for meconium so called triage, they spoke to paediatrics who also said it’s not normal or common for such a newly born so we’ve come in. Poor thing is off for a stomach X-ray and blood tests to rule out any bowel issues or a possible dairy allergy being passed through my milk. Both would be rare but they are being cautious and want to rule it out. So another night of no sleep and just waiting about to hear something 😪 he seems absolutely fine in himself and is not appearing unwell so trying not to worry but I must admit I did totally panick at home with this being our first baby and (attempted) first night at home! Absolutely shattered, struggling to keep my eyes open in the waiting room…

This is exactly the kind of reassuring story I want to hear! Thank you so much. 1hr 55mins later sounds ideal 😂

TokenGinger · 07/01/2023 10:45

@H44123 How are you feeling today? I've had these kind of feelings since around 36 weeks and I think it's just been my body going through the motions getting ready for labour somehow. Although, it could be a sign of labour itself!

@Jusmakingit Are you feeling any better after feeling uncomfortable last night?

@LA9610 9lb 14oz is a bloody big size! I'm glad they didn't leave you any longer. Poor Evan! I really hope he is okay. That must've been so frightening. I'm glad they're checking him over. My DS had a suspected dairy intolerance when he was a baby but it took them so long to diagnose, that he wouldn't take the special milk. I hope they're able to give you an answer as to what may have caused it so it doesn't happen again. Xx

H44123 · 07/01/2023 11:24

@TokenGinger I feel fine today. I think it tends to be more afternoon/evening I get the pains but they aren’t painful I just don’t know how to describe them. Like electric shocks and the dull period type pain has gone. I think like you it’s my body getting ready.

How are you feeling? And everyone else?

@LA9610 any update on the results as yet? Did you manage at all to get any sleep? Great news they are investigating straight away and always better to check, hopefully it’s nothing and he is better soon. Will be thinking of you!

Jusmakingit · 07/01/2023 11:43

@TokenGinger hello, I’m just sooo tired, headaches and achey. I just want to hibernate lol 😂 my mums convinced baby will make an appearance next week but still early at 36 weeks.

how are you feeling ?

LA9610 · 07/01/2023 16:24

@H44123 so the X-ray they did last night actually showed some abnormalities with the bowel and colon so Evan was admitted to neonatal and we were eventually given a room in the children’s ward to get some sleep in at around 5am. He had a repeat X-ray scheduled today at 9:30 and that showed everything was normal. They’ve done loads of other tests and can’t find any reason for the blood but it’s now showed in 4 nappies. The only thing they can point to is a severe cows milk intolerance so I’ve now been asked to go diary free 🙈 I guess I have the option of changing to formula and using dairy free but breastfeeding has been going really well and was something I really wanted to do so I’ll change my diet for a bit and see how we get on.

They’re keeping him overnight as they want to observe feeding and nappies for another 24hrs but thankfully they’ve got us a room back on postnatal so myself and DH can stay tonight. Having only had 2 hrs last night and then sitting in neonatal all day today we are both absolutely shattered!

TokenGinger · 07/01/2023 17:06

@LA9610 Sending love to you all. It must be absolutely exhausting. And poor Evan. I absolutely agree with continuing with the breastfeeding. The hardest part of managing DS's suspected allergy was trying to change the diet and I was so upset that we hadn't managed to establish feeding so that I could eliminate the allergens myself for him rather than trialling so many different milks.

I'm okay thank you, ladies. My cough is still particularly bad but it's eased which I'm grateful for. DP is away now until tomorrow so I half expect something to happen meaning he'll need to rush home 😂 I have slowly be losing bits of jelly-like discharge and some had a pink tinge yesterday so I feel like my body is starting to get ready. If she hasn't made her way by the time I'm induced on Monday, I'm hopeful that these signs mean induction may not be too lengthy xx

Jusmakingit · 07/01/2023 18:09

Just curious if anyone has had the sharp pains in the cervix/ vagina canal whatever you wanna call it. It’s not the lightening thing it’s more like stabbing pains with pressure. It’s been coming and going most the day. I just want a more definitive sign something may be happening down there.

i am exhausted as well and really really hungry lol 😂 not do the food shop so been picking at oranges, cheese and crackers and random bits like that lol 😂

TokenGinger · 07/01/2023 18:13

@Jusmakingit Yes! I've had those sharp pains on and off. It feels different to lightning crotch but I can't describe the pain. I haven't had it for a few days now though! Xx

Totally agree ! It’s not the same lol 😂 but mine just stopped as well now . 😕

H44123 · 07/01/2023 21:39

@LA9610 I’m glad you’ve had chance to get a bit of rest at least and they have given you a room. Also good you can try the diary free diet to continue with breast feeding - fingers crossed it works and if it does it’s not forever. So many good alternatives available nowadays too. I hope you all have a good nights rest, you definitely need it!!

@TokenGinger good news your cough is improving too. Although I have 3 weeks til due date, like you my partner often works away and I have a fear it will happen when he is away. I’m hoping from next week he won’t be away just in case 🤞all sounds very positive regarding your body getting ready too, hopefully before Monday for you!

@Jusmakingit I keep getting shooting pains around that area too and thought they were the lightning thing people mention but as it’s my first I have no clue what any of them are.

These past 2 days I feel like my bump has grown massively. I have had a small bump all along but now I think there’s no more room at all. Got away with no stretch marks too but think that’s because I had a fat belly before but now I know they are coming because my belly is at capacity!

Jusmakingit · 07/01/2023 22:48

@H44123 i know what you mean about the stretchy belly . With my first I got soooo many stretch marks cause I gained water weight so quickly I just looked fat not preg but with this I’m almost 5 stone lighter no new stretch marks but my bump feels so tight like any sudden movement and babies foot is going to come through the side. It is becoming uncomfortable with some of the dramatic movements lol

Dueinjan23 · 08/01/2023 08:26

Hi Ladies

I am just coming up to 38 weeks and feel so hormonal (moody/tearful/snappy), I wondered if anyone else felt the same or it’s just me and I’m a horrible pregnant person😵‍💫. I suddenly feel petrified of the change that is about to happen to our lives and that I need to give birth. Our 13 year old (yup massive age gap) is due on her period so I am wondering if I am just picking up on her hormones too? 🤷🏻‍♀️
Due to be induced at 39 weeks on the 18th due to ivf and previous losses, so the countdown does feel on.

VixenAndKits · 08/01/2023 15:49

Seems like it's all kicking off! I'm getting induced on Tuesday, nervous as heck! If something doesn't happen on Monday... They want me to attend two appointments in one day - yet want me to rest. Which is it, doc? 😆

Just for fun, for those it applies to;
Have you noticed a difference in pregnancy while carrying your son and your daughter?
These two pregnancies for me couldn't be any more different! Only share a couple of things.

Son: more hormonal/moody at the start, no sickness whatsoever, carried heavy, he moved SO much, PGP, sudden Raynauds that disappeared when he was born, great skin.

Daughter (current pregnancy): much calmer, awful sickness for first 20 weeks, PGP, awful lower back pain, less movement, sudden Raynauds, awful breakouts but hair is much stronger, terrible swelling in feet and hands, shock-like pain when she moves now she's dropped low.

Think I much preferred my son's pregnancy to be honest; since most of the issues with that pregnancy happened at the end, this one hasn't given me a break at all 😆 least it's always worth it.

Jusmakingit · 08/01/2023 16:19

I’m carrying my second DD and the pregnancies have been completely different :

first DD: didn’t feel preg at all until third trimester where bang on 35 weeks got edema, gained 4 stone within a month , pre eclampsia, GD , high blood pressure . Swelling was crazy I could barely bend my legs, It was horrendous and induced at 37+3

this DD pregnancy: felt horrible since 4 weeks, morning sickness all day up until around 28weeks , still occasionally get sickness but not physically sick. No GD, no high blood pressure, no swelling, no anything but I’m 36 weeks and the movements are very uncomfortable, feel very preg and carrying low so feels a lot of pressure .

so the when they say every preg is different these two are polar opposites
