Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

I agree with you all on the c-section vs natural thought. I'm all for a natural birth if there are no complications, or if that if what you want, but if there are some concerns either from health care professionals or from mum, then I think it's sensible to reduce the risk and go for the c-section.

I've just been for a midwife appointment and baby's measurements have dropped. Given it's the second instance of inconsistent measurements and that I've had Covid, I've been sent up to hospital now for a growth scan so I'm interested to see how that goes. I'll keep you all updated x

@PopsicleHustler how exciting!! Hopefully it’s not a lengthy one again for you but it definitely sounds like baby is on their way! Hope all goes well! You sound very prepared with the housework and kids etc!

@LA9610 that must be so frustrating for you! I don’t blame your husband either looking for the option he think will be most controlled and safest for you both - I think I would be the same too! Also a very high probability the measurements are incorrect too but a scan is more accurate than just a tape measure.

@Jusmakingit if you want a c section ask for it and don’t back down. You are totally well within your rights to have one!

I’m scared of my birth ending in a section too, but i keep reminding myself it could happen in any birth couldn’t it. I would be very annoyed if I went through all the pain etc to then need one as I would think I should have just gone with a planned one in the first place to avoid as much of the pain/effort as possible. But it’s just something you don’t know and can’t predict. I just think as long as it’s your decision then that’s the best it can be. Emergency’s happen and as long as baby and mum are ok that’s the main thing.

This is my feeling as well, im happy to try and let my body have a natural labour as i havent experienced it but then the same, to go through it all and still need a section. its so hard to know what will be best cause if you go with one you wonder if the other would have been best

Kerryw93 · 01/01/2023 15:18

Happy new year everyone !!!! Good luck @PopsicleHustler !! Please keep us updated. First baby of 2023!

I too could be In the C section clan. I will hopefully find out by the end of this week 🙏🏼 , does anyone know what week they look to do a C-section?
My baby is still breech! Xx

H44123 · 01/01/2023 15:20

@TokenGinger hope it all goes ok at the hospital! Fingers crossed it’s just the inaccuracy of the tape measuring!

@Jusmakingit yeah it’s a really hard decision, but where possible as long as it’s your choice that’s the best!

I have just been shopping, 20 mins max around a supermarket and my back is in bits. I have realised I can’t walk far anymore without getting really bad back ache!

PopsicleHustler · 01/01/2023 19:28

Went to hospital mid aftermoon, home now, going back in again shortly as things are picking up. I am dilating but was 2cm
Waters have definitely gone, baby is very very low down. Waters won't stop coming its like a tap. And wearing a pad doesn't make a difference. I have changed 4 times today! Had a sweep whilst I was examined. Going back to hospital again shortly! Hopefully next message will be i have had the baby!

RedLipsticks · 02/01/2023 02:55

Good luck @PopsicleHustler!! hope everything goes smoothly.

@Kerryw93 I’m choosing to have an elective c-section! I was booked in months ago when I first spoke to my consultant and requested one. I’ll be 39 weeks (hopefully) when I have it done! Just 14 more days to go eeeek!

CJones11 · 02/01/2023 05:29

It's my official due date and contractions have began... suddenly it has dawned on me that I have tk give birth again🙈

H44123 · 02/01/2023 08:10

@PopsicleHustler hope all is going well!

@CJones11 exciting it’s happening for you! Good luck hope all goes well!

Im 36 + 2 today so feel like I have a bit longer to wait, last appointment head was low down but not engaged but i felt fine. Now instead of waking up once to wee during the night its 2/3 which is annoying so I feel constantly tired but I know that won’t improve when baby turns up so trying to get used to it. Also randomly, my boobs leak a little (I think) unless I’m dribbling a lot when talking which is new for me 🤣sorry for the TMI!

Bear486 · 02/01/2023 13:08

Hope everyone is doing OK.?

I'll be 40wks on Saturday and am going in to be induced. I honestly cannot wait now, this last week I can't sleep, have become incredibly grumpy and just fed up now! Am a little scared about her arrival, not so much the labour part but more being a first time parent will I be any good at this. My partner is fab and supportive, we've got each other and plenty of support from parents/family etc.. should we require it, still slightly nerve-wracking though. Anyone else feel like this waiting for their firsts to arrive?

LA9610 · 02/01/2023 14:50

@Bear486 I feel the same, 40 weeks tomorrow, FTM and a bit anxious. Not sleeping well at all due to baby and being choked with a cold!

Gestational diabetes test came back normal so there’s no reasons why it seems to be a huge baby other than size of DH and I. Apparently his Dad was over 10lbs at birth which I only just got told.

Got an appointment with consultant tomorrow morning to discuss a planned section and see if we can get a date booked in last minute!

Jusmakingit · 02/01/2023 14:53

Anyone who gets a planned section let me know how it goes. I really want one but so scared at the same time

good luck ! x

Somatronic · 02/01/2023 15:06

@Bear486 and @LA9610 I feel the sake. I've bought a book about the first 6 months so I'm going to start reading that tonight! I was really anxious about that for the last few weeks but I'm a bit calmer now. I'm 39+4. My next appointment is on my due date on Thursday when I expect to be given an induction date as IVF babies aren't allowed go over at my hospital.

@LA9610 sorry to hear about your cold. I'm trying to avoid people because there are so many bad doses going around. I hope you feel better soon.

Somatronic · 02/01/2023 15:06

The same, not the sake!

H44123 · 02/01/2023 15:26

@Bear486 I think it’s totally normal to feel nervous for when baby is here. I’m feeling exactly the same with this being my first too. More worried about that than the labour to be honest. My worry is am I doing this right. Even holding him is a scary thought as I literally have zero newborn experience and the thought of holding one is terrifying!

@LA9610 good news about the GD test results! Hope your cold goes soon and you feel better soon too!

@Somatronic which book have you got if you don’t mind asking? I haven’t read any books yet so I’m thinking I might do that in the next few weeks to see if it will help me get a bit more knowledge/confidence.

Jusmakingit · 02/01/2023 15:32

The weirdest feeling I had was getting home from the hospital with new baby , she was in her car seat on the floor in the lounge infront of us and we both looked at each other and said ‘what do we do know with her’. It’s very strange leaving the hospital alone with a new baby lol in hospital you have midwives etc but once you leave it’s a really weird feeling. Reminded me of passing my driving test and the first time I drove alone with no one there telling me to check mirrors etc lol

it’s strange but you almost do things without realising and before you know it a few days have passed , then weeks then months.

best thing is to just trust your own instincts and you can always ring the labour ward to ask anything after you leave

Somatronic · 02/01/2023 15:45

@H44123 the book I bought is Your Baby Week by Week by Dr Caroline Fertleman and Simone Cave. Haven't opened it yet so I have no idea if it's any good!

H44123 · 02/01/2023 17:33

@Jusmakingit I feel like that will be us when we get home with the baby. Looking at each other and not having a clue what to do! But I know eventually I will have some confidence in what to do, probably after a few days. Luckily my partner has a previous child although now a teenager so he thinks he has forgotten everything but I’m sure it will come back to him!

@Somatronic thank you! May download on my kindle for a read!

PopsicleHustler · 02/01/2023 17:52

Evening ladies

I had him:)

Healthy baby 8lb4. Emcs. Will catch up with all the details when am feeling better!

Best wishes to all

TokenGinger · 02/01/2023 18:43

Congratulations @PopsicleHustler. I hope you're doing okay.

I hope the rest of you are doing okay, ladies. I've had a rocky few days. I had my routine midwife appointment yesterday where they sent me to hospital for a scan as baby's measurements had dropped. They couldn't scan as it was NYD but they monitored her heart and movements to check she was okay.

On Saturday night, I started with a tickly cough which has now developed into something awful. I have a barking cough which is hurting my stomach and my head when I cough. Baby's again got reduced movements. I've got a terrible headache, my body aches and I'm all bunged up. I suffer with asthma which isn't well controlled so I called 111 to see if I was allowed any steroids or antibiotics as last time I left it thinking my body would fight it, I was blue lighted into hospital and on oxygen for 48 hours. 111 doctor was, rightly, more concerned over baby than me so sent me straight back to the maternity hospital for monitoring. Baby's heart rate is okay but mine is high. I think they're going to let me home shortly but I'm terrified of going into labour whilst feeling so rough.

H44123 · 02/01/2023 18:58

@TokenGinger oh gosh hope your feeling better soon, but at least the hospital has checked you and baby over and your both ok aside from feeling crap yourself. So many bugs/virus/cold going around at the moment. Have they managed to scan baby re measurements?will you be able to have a few days bed rest at home? Baths bed etc try get rid of it?

I normally catch colds easy and thought I had got lucky this winter as so far not felt bad. Sorry for TMI but I have just thrown up all over in bathroom. Feel much better for it, I think I was greedy and ate too much food which is stupid as I know my stomach can’t hold as much food as before but the greed took over so lesson learnt!

TokenGinger · 02/01/2023 19:02

@H44123 You poor thing! I hope it doesn't develop into anything.

They scan department is back open tomorrow, so I need to come back tomorrow for the scan then I'm not sure what the plan is. Luckily, DS is in pre-school tomorrow and Wednesday and my mum is off work on Thursdays so I'm hoping that a few days of bed rest is possible. I just hope she stays inside until I feel fit enough to go through labour. The last two times I've been to the toilet, there's been a bit of jelly discharge which I really hope isn't the start of the mucus plug x

H44123 · 02/01/2023 19:23

@TokenGinger I find it crazy that just because it’s been NYD and a bank hol they haven’t scanned you! But at least they have checked heartbeat and movements. I would have thought that if you went in for whatever reason someone would scan you.

Fingers crossed you get those few days to rest up and hopefully feel better. Easier said than done I know but try not to worry, if they had major concerns they would keep you in. Once you have your appointment tomorrow you will feel better with a plan too.

@PopsicleHustler congratulations on your arrival. Hope you and baby are doing well!

PoppyHenry · 02/01/2023 19:31

@PopsicleHustler congratulations hope you and baby are well xx
