Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

Wow congratulations @lilroo87 I think I am also nearing, absolutely loads of cramping, and I mean loads.

H44123 · 26/12/2022 14:26

@lilroo87 massive congratulations on the arrival of your baby!! Hope you and baby are doing as well as you can be! Thinking of you xx

Merry Christmas to everyone!

lilroo87 · 26/12/2022 15:24

Thank you for the messages everyone.
Baby has improved loads overnight and is no longer wheezing when he breathes.
Now just trying to get him to feed independently so that they will consider letting us leave. He took some from a bottle earlier but found it quite hard. Going to try and breastfeed him when I go back over soon.
They are hoping he'll be moved over to the ward with me tonight but I think it will probably be tomorrow.

H44123 · 26/12/2022 15:26

@lilroo87 brilliant news he is improving with his breathing. All steps in the right direction. Really hope he’s on the ward with you soon.

how are you feeling yourself?

lilroo87 · 26/12/2022 19:01

@H44123 yeah it is good. He had a bit of a blip earlier so he's back on a breathing assist which is a bit of a shame but they're positive he'll be with me soon.
I'm not doing too badly, it's hard not getting too overwhelmed with it all and I'm in here on my own a lot as my DP has to get back for our DD. I'm taking the time to rest while I can so that when baby is with me I'm not shattered.

How are you feeling? It's mad to think we had the same due date but my little one was not waiting for that haha!

Kerryw93 · 26/12/2022 20:15

I'm glad he's improving! Hopefully rhat little blip is the last one and he will be with you very VERY soon. Like you say use this time to get all the rest you can before the chaos starts lol , what a lovely way to end the year. Xx

H44123 · 26/12/2022 22:01

@lilroo87 yeah get as much rest as you can, you deserve it and will be grateful when baby is with you! Everything crossed no more blips and he is with you soon!

I know it’s crazy…your little one just wanted to be the perfect Christmas gift for you! It did make me realise that it could be anytime really baby comes which is bizarre because I still haven’t got my head around the fact I will have a baby soon. I can feel him inside etc but to think he will be here in person it’s still blows my mind!

Hope you get some rest this evening!

PopsicleHustler · 27/12/2022 06:51

How are we all getting on?

I am having loads of braxton hicks, loads of cramping and I feel like 1 or 2 weak contractions have began to happen.

My last baby born 2021, January was a week slow labour at the house, which was lonnngggg. And I was constantly like is it today, is it today. I went into hospital on a Saturday at 2cm, she said not dilated enough and come back. Was basically 2cm for a week until the next Saturday woke up at 2am, contractions got stronger and managed at home til 4am, went to the hospital and was 4cm. So they kept me in then. She was born at 12.07 weighing 7lb12. So hilarious when I look back at these numbers
2cm for a week, woke up at 2am
Hospital at 4am, 4cm.dilated. baby born at 12.07, weighing 7lb12.

TokenGinger · 27/12/2022 16:16

OMG! @lilroo87 I actually thought of you on Christmas Day and wondered how you were doing with being so far away from home. I'm so glad your DD was able to still have a lovely day and it was nice your parents were on hand to provide care. I hope baby continues to improve and that you manage to get out in a few days' time.

@PopsicleHustler I was also thinking of you on Christmas Day, and wondering if baby made appearance as I know you were worried about support on the day. A week slow labour sounds awful! I hope this baby is much quicker!

@PoppyHenry How's your little chap doing now?

I'm not showing any signs just yet, I think baby must be comfortable. For those who have had theirs already, did you have any warning signs baby was on the way? With DS, I remember losing the mucus plug over the course of a week so I have that stuck in my head thinking until I see that, there's not going to be any movement. Though I'm genuinely in no rush for her to arrive. I still feel unprepared although there's not much more I could do. I think I'm still getting my head around there being another little one in the house.

PopsicleHustler · 27/12/2022 16:19

I'm losing my mucus plug and having pains which I am fine with. Let's see how we get on!

Thank you for thinking of me @TokenGinger hope all is well with you and everyone else

Jusmakingit · 27/12/2022 16:53

I wish I was further along. Having all sorts of aches and pains. I was induced with my first so no idea if all these symptoms are anything. I am assuming I am having lots of regular braxton hicks and period like cramps . Nothing consistent, random times.

so my braxton hicks (I think) almost like tummy ache all over my stomach, makes me almost feel like I can’t catch my breathe when it happens . Just makes me feel crap for the duration it happens. Lots of random lightening crotch as well , baby still busy and a bit of pressure every now and then down there.

lots of discharge but doesn’t seem like mucus plug.

technically due last week of January :(

PoppyHenry · 27/12/2022 17:17

@TokenGinger thank you for asking he’s doing really well his feeding tube was removed and he was weighed by the outreach nurse today and he’s back to his birth weight so we are really pleased. Thank you for asking x
how are you doing?? X

PoppyHenry · 27/12/2022 17:18

@TokenGinger i didn’t have any signs I’m afraid we was told he was coming via c section after some routine monitoring and the doctors not being happy with the results xxx

LA9610 · 27/12/2022 22:53

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well.

Had my 39 week appointment today where I was supposed to have a sweep. So I was told baby is well head down, the notes say the head is far down into my pelvis and she commented a few times about this. But she couldn’t actually do the sweep as she said she couldn’t even feel my cervix? And then marked my notes as 4/5 engagement which it has been since 22nd Nov so I’m pretty confused about how engaged I am… but anyway, the sweep didn’t happen, she just felt around and said nope can’t do it.

Fundal height is apparently only measuring 36 weeks which has not changed since the week 37 appointment so I’ve been referred for a growth scan as she said if growth has tailed off then I might want to be induced rather than go late as I’ve had no actual signs of labour like losing mucus plug or back/period pain. She did say that the fact baby is well down might be skewing that measurement though, which again doesn’t make much sense if I’m only 4/5 engaged.

Should get an appointment tomorrow for the scan. Not feeling like baby is going to be here anytime soon at this rate!

bedfordmum2210 · 28/12/2022 04:54

Hi everyone. In this Saturday at 8pm for induction. Will be 38 weeks. They want to do it due to my baby's weight gain slowing right down.

PopsicleHustler · 28/12/2022 06:49

@bedfordmum2210 wish you all the best and a safe delivery and labour

PopsicleHustler · 28/12/2022 06:50

@LA9610 wish you all the best. Maybe try sex and a big walk to get things going

PopsicleHustler · 28/12/2022 06:52

Update, I am still losing my mucus plug, and unsure if they are just pains of my body getting ready or very easy to cope with contractions, or strong braxton hicks but we will soon see.

With baby number 4 and five, it was a couple days after losing my mucus plug/bloody shpw and five that I had them.
I want this to come before the kids return to school, so I have time to rest and recover while the are still off.....

TokenGinger · 28/12/2022 09:49

It's interesting to see the different experiences people have had in the lead up to their labour. It just goes to show it can happen anytime with little warning.

@Jusmakingit How are you feeling today? Have the pains eased or progressed?

@PoppyHenry That's great news that he's doing so well ❤️ I'm really good, thank you xx

@LA9610 That sounds really confusing and like you're no clearer on the plan in hand 😩

@bedfordmum2210 Good luck for Saturday. Sending lots of strength and well wishes xx

@PopsicleHustler It sounds like it's imminent if the mucus plug is shedding. Fingers crossed. With DS, once I'd lost a bit of the mucus plug, DP and I had sex and I used the yoga ball a lot and my waters went the next day xx

Not really just very random :( braxton hicks is getting more frequent , almost to the point it’s all day but it’s not anymore intense or less dull just the same.

I wonder (and hope) if braxton hicks help labour. Read online they do help have a smoother labour but time will tell lol 😂

H44123 · 28/12/2022 10:37

Morning everyone

I have my home visit midwife appointment shortly, not sure what to expect but I feel fine considering the house is still a bomb site from Xmas but im past caring really! Then this afternoon have another midwife appointment with the one I normally see.

People keep telling me my bump is small and im not in too much discomfort yet so hoping nothing happens for a few more weeks. As it’s my first im unsure what to look out for, don’t think had many/ if any braxton hicks.

I have a fear of baby being breech for some reason, I think because I was and my mum had to have an emergency c section. I just don’t understand how they can tell by feeling my belly but I guess it’s what they are trained to do.

LA9610 · 28/12/2022 13:03

@PopsicleHustler thanks, I’ve been doing around 10k steps a day when weather permits so not sure I can do much more than that otherwise I’ll be really sore but just trying to stay active! Definitely going to try sex as it’s been ages 🤣🙈

@TokenGinger got my scan appointment on Friday so will just need to wait and see what comes of that. I don’t believe that baby’s growth has stopped as I feel my bump has got bigger over the past month!

I honestly don’t know whether I want baby to come now or not, on one hand I’m past being pregnant and excited to have them here, on the other I feel like the further away from Christmas the better 🤷🏼‍♀️ can’t imagine being pregnant for almost 3 more weeks though!

H44123 · 28/12/2022 15:51

@LA9610 I completely agree with you in regards to wanting baby here but then wanting to be as far away from Xmas as possible. I’m thinking the same.

I had my midwife appointment a bit ago and she said my appointment at 39 weeks I can have a sweep. Not sure whether this is something I should do or not really. She said if it works I would know within 2 days but then I’m always wondering whether unless there’s a medical reason to just wait and see what happens 🤷🏻‍♀️

TokenGinger · 28/12/2022 18:54

@H44123 How did your home visit go? What did it consist of? I haven't been given a home visit and I don't remember having one with DS either. I wonder if it differs from trust to trust?

I feel the same as you in that I'm not in any discomfort and feel absolutely fine so I'm not in any rush for her to come. People keep saying to me, oh I bet you can't wait to get her out, but honestly I'm really not fussed. I'd quite like to get my Christmas tree down next week once DS is back at pre-school and get the house back in order before she arrives, but I just don't have the energy to entertain DS and do the house stuff at the same time so am putting it off a little bit.

@LA9610 That's exactly how I feel with wanting the birthday as far away from Christmas as possible so I don't mind her staying put for a while. I think if we get past new year, I'll be happy but obviously the further away the better. Though I am a bit worried that she's measuring so big (9.5lb if she's full term), so if I go over, there's definitely a fear about how big she'll be.

H44123 · 28/12/2022 19:09

@TokenGinger home visit was fine actually. But pointless really, it was a health visitor (I think?!) and she explained once midwife discharge me and baby from their care after 2 weeks they take over. She gave me a little booklet and as suspected spoke highly of breastfeeding and to keep going even if it’s tough etc.

Midwife was quiet this afternoon so I was able to ask all my questions so feel a bit better.

RE feeding… I’m going to try breastfeed but if it doesn’t work out I have brain fog in regards to night feeds. What do people do bottle feeding during night? I have a prep machine which I would keep downstairs but maybe I take upstairs for the night? With a few sterilised bottles ready to make up during the night? Any advice please?
