@arianasky it may well be nothing, fingers crossed 🤞

Where does everyone stand on hair colouring? I know NHS guidance is that it's probably fine but that you might want to avoid in first trimester, but my midwife told me to wait until the third trimester.

I'm naturally dark haired and I have blonde highlights all over, so my roots are already so bad 🙈

Arwen7 · 22/06/2022 21:40

@Sassy144 I had highlights done and then went back to brunette all around 10-12w!!
I think they say wait til end of first trimester as a caution, but really I could find no evidence and as I understand you would have to use massive amounts of it for it to be absorbed and passed to baby/be harmful and that would not be the case during a trip to the hairdressers... I've never heard anyone say wait til 3rd trimester, imo that is not evidence based but I guess we all have our own beliefs. I did ask for ammonia free though so less chemicals.

mxrni · 23/06/2022 03:12

hiya loves, I'm still quite new to this site so im not too good at tagging people and replying etc. I just wanted to update you all after my sort of panic attack where I showed the pic of the tp that concerned me. so after the post anxiety clarity hit me, I was suuuuuper embarrassed abt having shown the world whatever that was without a warning 😬i had an ultrasound yesterday I am currently 6w4d and unfortunately they werent able to see a fetal pole or heartbeat yet so that's made me quite nervous. I have another scan at 8w4d to hopefully see it. they did find out that my one sided pain WASN'T ectopic afaik, they said it was due to a collapsing luteal cyst. I also found out I have a tilted uterus? no idea what that means tbh. but yeah, just remember me in your prayers please, God willing, this is my sticky baby that I'll be able to love and hold and cherish and grow old with ❤ and I'll pray the same for you lovely ladies here too ❤ hormones are crazy though, I cried multiple times watching a Netflix show and once while sat on the toilet thinking about how much petrol costs. I don't even drive 😂😭

Sassy144 · 23/06/2022 07:14

@Arwen7 yeah I was surprised she said that to be honest, I asked her if I could get done in first trimester and she said if it were her she'd wait until third just to be extra safe and if anything were to happen she would want no reason to think it was anything she'd done. I don't think I can wait that long as I'll look awful, and I'm sure I've read that highlights are ok anyway as they don't touch your scalp. I actually had them done just a few days after I'd found out I was pregnant as I didn't know you shouldn't at that stage 🙈

arianasky · 23/06/2022 07:54

@Sassy144 we'll still negative this morning but DP had to wing in sick for work because he's so I'll like a chest infection and flu. I've been with him 10 years and never seen him ring in sick before so must be Ill. But I feel ok this morning so 🙏🏻🤞🏻 I have the same hair as you dark brunette with light balayage I'm getting my hair done on Saturday my greys are starting to peak through 😂

@mxrni the same thing happened to me I had a scan at 6+3 and just the sac I cried my eyes out even though the sonographer reassured me it was just a little early, I went back 10 days later and healthy baby with heartbeat, I'm now 18+2, I have everything crossed for you 🙏🏻

Sassy144 · 23/06/2022 10:43

@arianasky oh no I hope he feels better soon and that you manage to avoid it!

With having covid obviously I've been coughing a lot, and with it sometimes I've been getting a short sharp stabbing pain low down on one one side (sometimes left sometimes right) - is that round ligament pain?

arianasky · 23/06/2022 10:47

@Sassy144 hopefully 🤞🏻 I get the same thing when I cough/sneeze and even get up or roll over in bed too fast so I assume it's Ligament pain

speake1 · 23/06/2022 11:09

@Sassy144 there is literally no evidence that suggests hair dying causes any adverse effect during pregnancy. Plenty hairdressers get pregnant / have healthy babies and they are around and using hair dye all day every day. I avoided it in the first trimester & wouldn’t get an all over bleach personally but again there would be no real evidence which shows that would be bad for the baby. If your hair needs doing I’d just go for it, it’s probably more of a risk you having lower self esteem thinking your hair looks sh*t than it is having it done. Being pregnant / your body changing is so hard, get in all the pampering you can is my opinion 😊

Also I’m really shocked your midwife said that as with my daughter & now both have said to go for it. I feel like she’s either misinformed or just erring on the side of caution incase something did then happen & you blamed the hair dye / her for ok-ing it.

Book the hair appt if you want to!! 😊 xx

Sassy144 · 23/06/2022 14:07

@speake1 thank you yeah I was surprised too and I think you're totally right, it just feels bad to go against something she said! I'll book in for some highlights in a few weeks when I'm in the second trimester as I will look absolutely horrific by then let alone another three months 😂

Amphibian94 · 23/06/2022 16:35

Anyone had period type pains during pregnancy? I have had mild cramps since being pregnant (to the point where I thought I was due on before testing). I'm still having these pains at 17 weeks, like a dull ache in my vagina? It doesn't last all day but it defo happens at least once everyday. Is it just stretching? Could it be a cervix issue?

Sassy144 · 23/06/2022 16:58

@Amphibian94 I'm not as far along as you but I've had period style cramps since the start pretty consistently. I'm just putting it down to things stretching.

Lizm1990 · 24/06/2022 07:28

@Sassy144 i get those sharp pains too I’ve been getting them when I move wrong, get up too quickly, sneeze cough etc for the past couple of weeks, I just assumed it’s round ligament pain, as it eases when I’m still. I’m seeing this as a good sign that things are stretching 😊 how are you doing? Have you been having sickness/nausea?

Sassy144 · 24/06/2022 08:18

@Lizm1990 yeah it's good to know something is happening in there haha I've not been too sick really but have had food aversions, the only thing I can really stomach is plain food and fruit. Having covid the last week has sort of masked my symptoms too. Really hoping me and DH will be negative in time for our 12 week scan on Tuesday 🤞 how are you?

Lizm1990 · 24/06/2022 18:24

@Sassy144 snap on the sickness front, fingers crossed you are negative when’s your scan? I’m doing good, no real sickness or nausea just hungry and lack of energy, I just want the scan here now as I haven’t had a scan at all as I couldn’t face having the same message as last time at a private clinic.

Girls bit TMI but in the last week I’ve noticed a lot more discharge than I normally get, it’s watery and thin no odour or anything, and of course I always panic thinking it’s blood. Did you or are you experiencing this? I’m 11+1. My scan is next week and I’m really hoping this is a good sign as I never got this last time when I had a MMC.

sunnyd67 · 24/06/2022 18:41

@Lizm1990 Yes, I had a lot white, runny discharge up until recently, I still get it, but a lot less than previously. I am 21 weeks now. It used to send me into panic mode as it came out in the mornings I thought it was blood!

Lizm1990 · 24/06/2022 19:37

@sunnyd67 that’s really good to know and glad it’s not just me 😊 puts my mind at ease

Sassy144 · 24/06/2022 21:56

@Lizm1990 my scan is on Tuesday, when is yours? I have also had a lot of discharge, particularly today and I panic every time and run to the loo!

Lizm1990 · 25/06/2022 08:24

@Sassy144 good luck for yours 🤞🥰 mines on Thursday trying to not think about it and booked Thurs and Friday off work as they don’t know and if it’s good news I can have a nice long weekend and if it’s bad news at least I won’t have to face work straight away. I’m hoping it’s good news though obviously 😊

Cruz86 · 25/06/2022 08:39

Hope you're feeling okay @arianasky. I never tested positive even though I've still got a bit of a lingering cough at night time a week later!

And glad you're feeling better now @Sassy144 ☺️ Re hair dying, in all my pregnancies (1 child, 1 mmc and now!) I've had highlights in the first 12 weeks. I think the NHS says there's no evidence for it to be a risk, but of course it's personal preference and what you'd feel comfortable doing. Oh and I've been getting lots of pains/tenderness low down because of coughing too.

Good luck for your scans next week @Lizm1990 and @Sassy144.

I had my anomaly scan yesterday and everything looked great! We even got a little look in 3D which was amazing 🥰 Definitely a boy too 🤣

Congrats @Cruz86 !!

@Arwen7 I wondered if I could ask you for advice (sorry)!

Have picked up a sick bug from my son and Ive been having V&D all night. Last time when I miscarried I had the same (maybe a coincidence?) but really worrying now. I called the midwife who said don't worry just rest etc but what do you think? They don't want me to go in as I could spread the bug.

Might book yet another scan for tomorrow :-? Feel like im going mad

Prayingformyrainbow93 · 25/06/2022 10:38

Aw @Cruz86 how lovely! We have our anomaly scan on Thursday and I’m officially 20 weeks today! Can’t believe it, half way already! Xx

Cruz86 · 25/06/2022 10:46

Oh no, I hope you feel better soon @flowergarden16 😩 xx

Ahh how exciting @Prayingformyrainbow93! It's crazy how far we are isn't it. I'm 21+1 today and it still feels surreal. Good luck with your scan! Xx

Could anyone tell me what pelvic girdle pain is like and when it starts? I'm 17 weeks and this morning I have a sharp stabbing pain in my left groin area, and also a shooting pain down my inner thigh? Trying not to freak out as I am on holiday and not back till tonight. I do have sciatica but it doesn't feel like that. Any reassurance? I also have on and off pressure in my vagina still but I've had that the whole pregnancy. Is it too early for PGP??

arianasky · 25/06/2022 12:29

@Cruz86 well all my symptoms have gone and didn't develop into anything thankfully, I think it may have been hay fever. DP is way better today aswell and negative so he went to work. Oh my gosh! Your baby is sooo cute that pic is amazing ❤️

I have my gender reveal tomorrow and can't believe I've got to this stage 💙🌈

Arwen7 · 25/06/2022 12:35

Hey @flowergarden16 I am sorry to hear you are not feeling well!
D&V is not usually a sign of mc and during pregnancy we are very prone to pick up stomach bugs unfortunately! Especially if your son had it. But totally understandable you are worried if you experienced that last time. Rest and try to stay hydrated, hopefully it will pass soon. When do you have your anomaly scan? If you have no bleeding or pain you may want to wait. But by all means if you think a scan tomorrow will put your mind at rest then go for it I would say. X
