@Skl2021 if you're in the UK then yes, that's when you need to confirm to your employer, but don't forget you can change it with 4 weeks notice so if you do it now then start changing your mind, you could request it. Most ladies I have dealt with this year have finished 10-14 days before the due date. Some take holiday before so the mat leave starts when baby comes, some just start mat leave then, then take holiday at the end of it. Can't believe they only just gave it to you!! That feels really mean and like bad practice, I always forewarn ladies as soon as I know they're pregnant and say no pressure now, but I want you to know what we will need from you by week 25...talk to your family or friends if you're struggling with what to do, it can be really flexible so it suits your needs and feelings and remember it's never set in stone as babies don't follow a schedule 😊x x

Skl2021 · 14/06/2022 08:44

@Tulip1112 I have always received mine at 24 weeks I thought that was the norm 🤔 I will be going on leave earlier as I'm on my feet for hours and it's already uncomfortable and hurting my back 😣 don't think I could last until the end 🤣🤦 x

Tulip1112 · 14/06/2022 08:48

@Skl2021 perhaps it is at your work then but just seems so late if you aren't sure!! That sounds perfect for you to come off earlier then, sorry to hear you're so uncomfortable! X x

Skl2021 · 14/06/2022 09:02

@Tulip1112 I got mine from the midwife and that's the first appointment with her after 20 weeks? Didn't know u could get it earlier! Yes I am trying to work as long as I can but standing on your feet for hours hurts 🙈 wish I had a desk job 🙊 xx

Cruz86 · 14/06/2022 09:13

@moomoose yes I had very funny coloured discharge from about 6-13 weeks - sometimes it was luminous green! I'd probably contact your gp so they can swab you to check for infection but don't panic, mine all came back okay! Seems it can be a normal thing to happen x

Ah thank you @Skl2021! It was so lovely and I want to book another holiday already 😂 Sometimes the braxton hicks actually really worry me, I can really feel it and I didn't have that with my son. Especially not this early! Aww I'm sure you don't look frumpy! How amazing that you're 24 weeks 🥰

@sunnyd67 I finished around 37 weeks with my son but, if you can, I'd try and push it back to at least 38 weeks. Having more time off with baby the other side is more important to me, but it all depends on how you're coping, how much organising you have to do before baby is here etc!

Xx

@Cruz86 I keep looking at weekends away 🤣🤦 but I'm trying to save money not spend it 🙈 as I haven't bought anything for baby yet! Yes my Braxton Hicks were very strong actually made me stop what I was doing I was in such a panic! Tummy went so tight 😣 I can't remember getting them this early! Yes 24 weeks today 🎉 feel a bit of relief tbh getting this far xx

Tulip1112 · 14/06/2022 09:59

@Skl2021 oh yeah the MATB1 you don't get earlier, sorry I thought you meant the maternity form at work!! Tbh I do have a desk job and I'm super tired so can't imagine how you feel!!! Hats off to you 🤯😂

arianasky · 14/06/2022 11:01

I WFH but I'm thinking of a week annual leave then going on maternity week 37/38 depending on when my section is scheduled for, ladies who are having braxton hicks is 17 weeks to early to have them I've had cramps all accross my lower stomach this morning and even in my thighs and vagina/bum? Not sure if that's what it is?

Arwen7 · 14/06/2022 11:05

Hi @arianasky I had it for the first time yesterday, 17w today too. As long as it goes away/only sometimes/no other worrying symptoms I would say it's normal. But they did freak me out too!

arianasky · 14/06/2022 11:15

@Arwen7 oh good! It did panic me a little and make me think but they've gone now so guessing that's what it was, there's always something isn't there 😂

Prayingformyrainbow93 · 14/06/2022 12:50

Ah @aesgriff another baby girl I missed this!!! 💗 congratulations, how far along are you? Xx

Cruz86 · 14/06/2022 18:07

Yeah we really should save money too @Skl2021 😂 I'm ordering our travel system tonight because if I don't, I'll spend the money on a holiday 🤦🏼‍♀️ I think the braxton hicks happen more when I'm dehydrated so it's a good sign that I need to drink more! Aww I bet you do, you really don't actually have long left do you!!

@arianasky mine started around 16/17 weeks as well and I was so worried. It's such an odd sensation but I've read that as long as they're not regular, with no real pattern to them, it's all perfectly normal!

I just felt the first kick from the outside 🥲 I thought I'd been feeling kicks for the past few days and I had my hand on my stomach just now and he kicked so hard I felt it on my hand

@Cruz86 aww that's good then I'll keep an eye but it was only this morning haven't felt any since, I know I can't believe it I thought I may be a bit too early too feel a kick but there was no denying it.

Skl2021 · 14/06/2022 18:54

@Cruz86 how are you so organized I can't even pick one 🤣 yes I probably don't drink enough 🤦 yes time seems to be flying now it's actually scary that its becoming real 🙊 xx

@arianasky awww that lovely 💕🙌 xx

Cruz86 · 14/06/2022 20:08

I literally feel mine throughout the day @arianasky, just had some more now 😩 Going to bring it up at my midwife appointment on Thursday because it is worrying me.

@Skl2021 I just couldn't help myself with buying stuff 😂 I think you might want to start thinking about what you need seeing as you're 24 weeks now 🙊

Cruz86 · 14/06/2022 20:53

Skl2021 · 14/06/2022 20:55

@Cruz86 he is 6 now so we didn't keep anything so need to buy it all again. Just can't commit to anything 🤣🤦 keep saying I will do it soon then another week passes. We still haven't even announced I'm pregnant 🙈 I can still hide it 🤣 xx

Cruz86 · 14/06/2022 20:57

Haha 😆 we've also had to buy everything again @Skl2021! 🤦🏼‍♀️ there's so much I want to do around the house before baby's arrival too. Oh wow, really?! That's so good you can still hide it! Xx

OP posts:
Skl2021 · 14/06/2022 21:03

@Cruz86 oh my house is a tip ATM so much I plan to do everyday and then nothing gets done! I'm so tired again lately 😣 back to napping again some days! And I can't stand this weather! It's so hot 🙊 yes I'm quite tall and not skinny so I guess baby has hiding places already 🤣 xx

sunnyd67 · 14/06/2022 23:59

@Skl2021 you are not the only one, I feel like this baby won't have anything to wear since I haven't even looked at baby stuff 🥲🤪 only handful of people know, our parents, one of my friends and my boss but I can no longer hide this baby, the belly is sticking out a lot and I'm struggling for clothes, I've only got around three to four outfits I can wear 😃 I'm in need to do a risk assessment at work, so people will know and it is making me super anxious ☹️ I want to hold on until my scan on Thursday
