@Amphibian94 oh ok! So yeah maybe worth having someone dipstick the urine just in case you have uti? Although my urine is sometimes like that too but it's all clear so hope you don't need the antibiotics x

CNizzle · 06/06/2022 13:38

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining. I'm 5w today after our first IVF cycle. My only other pregnancy was a mmc last July at 6weeks, discovered at an early private 8 week scan. I'm terrified. Not got any symptoms other than the odd twinge/cramp.
As its IVF we've got a scan booked at 8 weeks, but that feels like forever away.
I'm really hesitant to call to get booked in with the midwife. I can't quite accept everything yet. The heartbreak was so bad last year, and the thought of getting the ball rolling again is getting me down.
I'm 42, and this is likely our one & only shot at this.
Am I silly for not contacting the midwives, or us it ok to wait a bit longer
I'm also on progesterone, so I knowing signs of loss will be masked by that too.
Sorry for the long-winded post.

arianasky · 06/06/2022 14:27

@sunnyd67 I've got one from Amazon it feels amazing but I haven't actually used it yet mind, it's the aviattor pregnancy pillow I went for. It was £41.95.

sunnyd67 · 06/06/2022 14:45

@arianasky @Arwen7 thank you! I'll have a look. I don't want to spend too much just in case it doesn't do anything for me!

moomoose · 07/06/2022 14:14

Hi everyone, I'm just over 11 weeks today and have some sharp ache type pains low on the right hand side of my abdomen. They come and go, and although they're painful they're not awful, probably a 5 out of 10 kind of pain. I'm naturally worried because I've had a MMC before.

I've had them all day so far and they haven't eased off. No bleeding though. Should I be worried? Or does it just sound like ligament pain?

Arwen7 · 07/06/2022 15:35

Hi @moomoose I think it could very well be round ligament pain? Mine started around 12 weeks and it feels sharp, low and on the sides mainly. Don't feel it if I'm standing still/sitting but it comes sometimes when moving etc.
I know this probably doesn't help but all my mc started with brown spotting first before I ever had any pains. So no blood is definitely a good sign.
When do you have your dating scan? Hopefully soon and you can be reassured x

moomoose · 07/06/2022 16:12

Thanks @Arwen7, that is reassuring but I'm sorry to hear you had multiple losses. My dating scan is 18 June, so got a while to wait (what feels like forever, anyway). I last had a private scan a week ago and everything was ok - so I got a bit cocky and thought if I was ok at 10w2, I'd be ok for the duration...

I'm waiting for a call back from 111 in case it's appendicitis - that's what they seemed most worried about after I confirmed that it isn't an ectopic pregnancy. If it gets worse I might take myself off to urgent care anyway, it is just like you describe in terms of location, but I'm definitely feeling it sitting and lying down.

Arwen7 · 07/06/2022 16:22

@moomoose a good scan at 10+ is definitely very good and you should definitely allow yourself to feel some reassurance after it :)
I hope it's nothing but definitely get it checked out if it gets worse.

moomoose · 07/06/2022 16:28

Thanks @Arwen7 - you've made me feel a lot better! I'll definitely get it checked if it gets worse. I can't wait until I've had the dating scan and the results of the combined test - I hope then I'll be able to relax a bit. I'm sure it was exactly the same for you, and pretty much everyone on this thread!

I'm quite a bit behind most of you in terms of dates, so it's been quite reassuring seeing so many of you post 12-week scan pics etc.

Arwen7 · 07/06/2022 16:41

You are welcome! Let us know how it goes.
Yes the dating scan is a milestone. It still took me a while to relax some more, however now 16w and time seems to go faster and I feel a bit less anxious. Have even bought some baby clothes! So hopefully you can start to enjoy the pregnancy a bit more soon.

Is anyone having headaches? I am 16w and have been getting quite bad headaches for the last week or two regardless of the amount of water I drink or if I'm stress or not. I didn't have any in the first trimester. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing headaches in the second trimester too?

Lizm1990 · 07/06/2022 17:55

@CNizzle congratulations 🌈 I think do whatever feels right for you regarding calling midwives personally when I had my MMC and I asked the hospital if they would tell my midwife and they wouldn’t it wasn’t very nice calling them. I didn’t get an appt with my midwife last time until I was 9 weeks as they lost my details so I wouldn’t worry too much if you decide to wait for the scan instead. I think I should have my scan in roughly 3 weeks too so fingers crossed for you! It sounds like you have been on a tough journey 🥰

Lizm1990 · 07/06/2022 18:01

Hi ladies, how are you feeling? I think one lady has a scan this week forgive me I don’t want to trawl back to tag to say good luck!

I’ve got my first midwife appt tomorrow and Friday will officially mark the gestation age my baby passed in my MMC, so I’m a bit nervous this week. I hate it that when my thoughts go to a bad place it’s like it’s tainted having positivity during pregnancy. Yesterday I was food shopping and got some sharp pains low on my right, I instantly started thinking I need to go to the loo to check, obv I’m all good but it doesn’t stop your brain thinking am I’m going to have another miscarriage. I know you will this feeling, my fella just doesn’t get it 🤦‍♀️

aesgriff · 07/06/2022 18:30

@Arwen7 yes! I’ve had horrible headaches and they’re usually worse in the mornings after sleeping . I try not to take paracetamol as in all honesty I don’t find they help xx

siobhanmt247 · 07/06/2022 19:46

@Lizm1990 is funny how some of the symptoms that should be food signs seem to make you think the worst! I've had quite a lot of discharge all the way through and I'm only just getting over worrying I'm not bleeding constantly and the cramps are so nerve wracking too when it's really just a good sign that things are implanting/stretching!

Take care of yourself at this time and try remember - different sperm, different egg, different pregnancy x

CNizzle · 07/06/2022 19:54

Thanks @Lizm1990 and food luck with your midwife appointment.
It really does take the joy out of it doesn't it.
I'm struggling even to say the "p" word out loud, even to an empty room.
I'm thinking I'm allowing myself one more test before the 8 week scan, (I have peed on waaaay too many this past week to be healthy) I'll wait til the end of this week, ive gog one digital left, and if it's a 3+ I'll phone & book in.

CNizzle · 07/06/2022 19:54

Food... sorry, Obviously good luck!

sunnyd67 · 07/06/2022 20:35

Sorry if TMI.
Almost 19 weeks, now and again, and especially in the mornings I experience pressure like sensation/pain in my vagina, or very low down. The only way I can explain this pain is tired leg pain after a long walk when finally sitting down 🤣 but in my pelvis/vagina. Anyone else? Is this something I should be worried about?

Lizm1990 · 07/06/2022 20:45

Thanks @siobhanmt247 i do appreciate it and like you said it’s a good thing, still makes you worry, but you are right different pregnancy and all 😊

@CNizzle thankyou 🥰 I know what you mean about the tests so addictive but in my last pregnancy I tested a few times leading up to 9 weeks as I had this feeling something was wrong and it still said pregnant and now I’ve realised the tests mean jack as your body still produces the hormone, I did three this time when I found out and then stopped lol. Do you have your date for your scan booked in? I’m dreading mine. I’m sure you may feel the same especially having a MMC.

CNizzle · 07/06/2022 21:58

@Lizm1990 my scan's booked for 27th June. Still nearly 3 weeks away. Seems like forever.
Just booked a few nights away to York next week just for a change of scenery, and to occupy my mind with something else.

siobhanmt247 · 07/06/2022 22:36

I've been particularly obsessed this week with googling stats about the percentage of women that have two mcs in a row and particularly MMCs. I've had no bad signs and I'm passed 12 weeks now but just can't help worrying about another mmc. I cannot wait until my scan is over

Raindrops2015 · 08/06/2022 00:05

Hi. Haven't been in for a while. Lovely to see all the new pregnancies. Congratulations!
I had my anomaly scan today. All went well except baby was doing her own thing and not giving a good view of heart. Still getting odd bout of morning sickness but feeling lots of kicks which is great.

I remember the days of first trimester. So tough and anxious. I still get anxious at scans but nothing as bad as those early ones. Keeping everything crossed for everyone. 2nd trimester will be here before you know it.

Arwen7 · 08/06/2022 06:08

@aesgriff Sorry to hear you are having them too. I haven't been taking Paracetamol either. Yesterday I had a chai and it became much better so will try some caffeine again next time. I guess it's just hormones, hope they go away soon!!

@sunnyd67 I haven't had that but it may be because you are further along and the growing uterus/baby is putting pressure down there. So difficult to make sense of all these pains and aches!

Ladies all my love to you on those first few weeks they are horrible! I lived for the next scan and worried so much but it does get better.

Lovely news @Raindrops2015 !! 💕

flowergarden16 · 08/06/2022 08:33

Congrats @Raindrops2015 !

Sassy144 · 08/06/2022 16:36

@CNizzle my 12 week scan is 28 June so very close to yours, just want time to speed up!

I'm constantly going between feeling positive to worrying that it's going to wrong, it's exhausting! I had an 8 week scan last week which was reassuring, but I'm already considering booking another one for 10 weeks 😂🙈

Tulip1112 · 08/06/2022 16:39

Ladies I have my 12 week scan tomorrow and this girl is not ok 🤯 literally so anxious I am sweating all the time lol!! I know there was a heartbeat at 10 but that was 2.5 weeks ago 😭😭 please send me good, calming vibes!! X x
