Lizm1990 · 19/05/2022 21:38

Congratulations @Arwen7 and @Prayingformyrainbow93 🥰

@Confusedmumof4maybe5 congratulations too ❤️

@Skl2021 reading what you have been through is awful, it will be my first child and in my last pregnancy I obsessed over one born every minute, the thought of the tongs freaks me out, let along the sweeps they do. But I think I was more bothered about tearing but nobody ever mentions that so I assume intervention can be worse depending on the birth.

Skl2021 · 19/05/2022 21:54

@Lizm1990 it was the hardest thing I have been through but we came out the other end ❤️ i hope I haven't scared anyone with what I went through! My first birth was a breeze and I'm sure even if you have intervention it will go fine! I also watched one born! Don't think I can watch it now knowing I have to do it 🤣🙊 x

aesgriff · 19/05/2022 21:55

Reading about your birth stories ladies is giving me
curly toes 😳 been so focused on getting and staying pregnant I haven’t even considered all the options 🫣 xx

@Arwen7 aww congratulations xx and to you @Prayingformyrainbow93

@speake1 @Skl2021 @Cruz86 how are you all
ladies? Finally feeling better after covid. My god it really wiped me out and I’m still feeling exhausted. Had my first midwife appointment today and heard baby’s heartbeat so that was lovely ❤️ Xx

Skl2021 · 19/05/2022 21:59

@aesgriff sorry didn't mean to scare anyone! I'm sure yours will be fine! Mine was just lots of unfortunate events. So glad your finally feeling better ❤️ I was exhausted for a while too. Aww that's lovely u got to hear heartbeat do you know how fast it was? X

Arwen7 · 19/05/2022 22:03

Thanks a lot everyone xx

@aesgriff so glad you are feeling better, it doesn't sound like it was fun! Take it easy as your body recovers.

aesgriff · 19/05/2022 22:04

@Skl2021 sounds totally traumatising! It’s so sad that you have had such awful experiences at that hospital and I totally get why you have such reservations over going there 💕
When does the exhaustion end!! Draining! Aww It was around 145bpm she said.. was so sweet and she said she could hear baby kicking too (I didn’t feel a thing) xx

speake1 · 19/05/2022 14:15

Thank you all for your responses, we’ve got the joolz aer buggy that I’m tempted to buy the bassinet for as it’s soooo much lighter than the silver cross wave we have left from our daughter - anyone whose planning to get that pram seriously try lifting it in & out the car first, it weighs something like 20kg!!! So might buy the buggy board for the joolz aer & see how she goes at the moment with the option to go on it, if she isn’t keen I’ll probably get a double.

Don’t think a carrier will work too well for me at least to begin with this time as we’re a planned c section & think the ergo one we have would sit write on scar 🤦🏻‍♀️

thanks ladies xxx

I had a C-section and had no issues using the baby carrier. We had the Babybjorn one.

Skl2021 · 19/05/2022 22:15

@aesgriff thanks ❤️ I'm sure u will be fine soon! Just listen to your body and rest if you need it. Aww that's lovely! I'm still not feeling regular movements. Baby was kicking and moving on my scan but I couldn't feel a thing 🙈 xx

speake1 · 20/05/2022 06:24

@Lizm1990 try not to worry about sweeps, they are totally fine, no more uncomfortable than getting a smear test. I had a forceps delivery, third degree tear & episiotomy. To be totally honest with you, you won’t even care / notice how you’re feeling as long as your baby is ok! Xxx

@aesgriff sorry you have been feeling so rubbish, hopefully you’re coming out the other end of it now! So lovely you got to hear the baby’s heartbeat yesterday 💕 I have the midwife today so hoping for the same although the one I had last time was a bit of a bat & said NICE guidelines weren’t to listen until 24 weeks so hoping I don’t have her today 🙈

@babyjellyfish thank you, that looks like a nice soft one! Xxx

Like @Skl2021 said I hope we didn’t scare anyone, sorry ladies didn’t think when chatting so openly about it! Xxx

Bridgey8 · 20/05/2022 07:28

Hi ladies just catching up. Started reading the birth stories and then thought might be better to avoid!!!

I started CBT therapy this week which I'm really hoping helps the anxiety. Has anyone else tried? I also did my first pregnancy yoga 🧘‍♀️ yesterday - was great for breathing techniques and stretching. My ribs are agony at moment!

Happy Friday everyone!! Xx

dollface22 · 20/05/2022 07:30

G morning how is everyone! My anxiety playing up this morning ! I've been testing daily with cheapies 🤫 & I know I shouldn't but it's the only thing I have to confirm it ! I'm 5 weeks today 😊 & have a scan in 3 weeks today il be 8 weeks! How to survive 3 weeks! How are you all doing ??
I'm making plans every day to distract myself !

Skl2021 · 20/05/2022 08:15

@arianasky good luck today 🤞💞 xx

@Bridgey8 seems like your being very proactive 🙌 I have never tried any of them! Pregnancy yoga sounds interesting tho! Hope your ribs get better soon 🙊 xx

@dollface22 I stopped testing once I got a dye stealer as I found it was giving me anxiety. Definitely keep busy and take it day by day 🙌 you will get there xx

flowergarden16 · 20/05/2022 08:17

@aesgriff I was so scared about birth in my first pregnancy! It's totally normal

I would say that you can't control or plan anything so be prepared for whatever but also know you'll be looked after and you'll be fine whatever happens. PAIN RELIEF IS AVAILABLE!

flowergarden16 · 20/05/2022 08:18

good luck today @arianasky x

scoutcat · 20/05/2022 08:50

Morning everyone! Congratulations to everyone having gender scans! I bet it's so lovely! Just 4 more sleeps until my 12 week scan - I feel like a child counting down like that but it has felt like an eternity! I've officially passed the gestation I lost my last pregnancy though so that's a relief!

For those women feeling a bit nervous about giving birth, I was all set for a natural birth. I'd been doing hypnobirthing, perineal massage, affirmations and everything you can think of. My waters broke 5 days before due date and labour started a few hours after, but I had to get induced as it had been 24 hours and wasn't progressing as they wanted. Ended up having an emergency c section as baby was on his back/side and there was no way he was coming out on his own. Even though everything went tits up and not as I wanted, I felt so calm and cared for and actually think of his birth as very empowering. I know it's not the case for everyone and I feel very lucky, but be assured that even if it's not what you want it can still be a really positive experience. I did get an infection after my op and had to stay in hospital for 5 nights though which was a bit of a bummer!

Cruz86 · 20/05/2022 09:52

Oh wow, that sounds like such an ordeal @Skl2021 😞 I know the thought of a c section is scary but I'll 100% be choosing that over induction if I don't go into labour naturally by 42 weeks! I will never put my body through that again.

Yeah my husband needs a bit of encouraging with the idea of a home birth @speake1 and I guess it's because they obviously witness everything going on with a clear head (not in the throes of labour like us!) and it's of course very scary for them to experience. If he is 100% against it I wouldn't do it, but I just need to educate him, involve him in the decisions etc and hopefully we'll both be happy with the decision! If we needed to be blue lighted it would take about 15/20 minutes but I know that could still be the difference between everything being okay or not. If they let me labour in the mlu rather than the delivery suite, I may choose that instead. I also agree with you about being more of an advocate for myself this time round. I was naive in my first pregnancy and took the stance of 'well a birth plan doesn't always go to plan', when in reality, that just meant I was oblivious to what I was being told and accepted everything the consultants told me. On reflection, I shouldn't have been induced 24 hours after my waters broke (slightly) and should've been clued up on warning signs etc to look out for. Hindsight is a funny thing.

Sorry for scaring anyone with the birth talks. I really recommend The Positive Birth Book and In Your Own Time as two good places to start if you're feeling nervous.

@sunnyd67 I use it every couple of days, probably more than I should but it really helps to ease my anxiety for 48hours 😂 I literally do it for a minute and then turn it off.

Love those questions @barneymcgroo! Exactly what I needed with my first birth 😆

Oh yeah @Prayingformyrainbow93! We are, I'm 4th November. How exciting that you've found out, I don't blame you for finding out when you can ☺️ Yes mine is tomorrow! I did think girl but now I'm swaying towards another boy. My scan pics are literally so hard to tell!

Congratulations @Arwen7, another 💙! Oh a home birth as well, amazing! Is this your first baby? I really hope I can have mine, as long as there are no major risks.

@Lizm1990 please don't obsess over one born every minute (even though I'm watching it too) 😂 Some of the practices in the earlier episodes are archaic and most of the women you see laying down on their backs which is just not optimal for birth!

Oh I'm glad you're feeling a bit better @aesgriff even though it did knock you for six 😩 And you got to hear baby's heartbeat too 🥰 When's your gender rescan? I'm good thanks, 16 weeks today!

I'm starting pregnancy yoga next week @Bridgey8, can't wait! Did you do yoga before pregnancy?

Good luck @arianasky!

Xx

Skl2021 · 20/05/2022 09:58

@Cruz86 absolutely I will be doing anything to avoid induction I do not want that again ever! The whole needle in the spine bit freaks me out 🙈 but I can understand how relaxed and calm it can be having a date and everything set and I'm sure it doesn't take that long? I have heard you get quite painful wind pains aswell didn't even know that happened? X

Bridgey8 · 20/05/2022 10:24

@Cruz86 no I didn't! I'm so inflexible. But lots of people recommended to me for anxiety and to help with back. Was just a nice hour stretching and connecting with baby and learning breathing techniques! Xxx

Arwen7 · 20/05/2022 12:27

@Cruz86 thank you! Yes first one. I have always wanted a home birth and I am a big advocate of it. But we will see how everything goes! 🤞🏼 I would decline certain things but not everything of course, after 3 mc wouldn't want to take any silly risk.
Be prepared to be challenged by Doctors if you had a previous section! But usually home birth team midwives are lovely and will support your choices - hopefully. Important thing is that you are informed and sounds like you are. I hope your husband comes round the idea of a home birth. It can be scary for them. X

arianasky · 20/05/2022 14:01

Hello all, all good with the scan 🎉 baby measuring dead on 13+3, he was sitting upright at first so I had to go for a walk have some sugar and go back, then he was lying on his stomach so being cheeky haha! They weren't able to take my bloods so back on Monday for that but all good, I will catch up on thread in a bit 💕🌈

Skl2021 · 20/05/2022 14:20

@arianasky great news 🎉🌈💞 are we thinking a he? 🤔🙊 Xx
