@Prema112 yeah, don’t look. Everything looks so dark and different down there and with the added extra, it really isn’t a good sight haha. Take my word for it.

the midwife said I can use the Anusol even though it says to speak to a gp. She said they always have that on leaflets but to just use it. It’s not working but I’ll see what the dr says today. I’m going for a nice bath at my parents house tonight to relax and submerge the Buddha body lol

CurryandSnuggle · 03/05/2022 12:13

Guys my bump has gone a mega weird shape! Do you think this is “lightening”? (Excuse very unflattering pictures!)

annie1994 · 03/05/2022 12:25

@DaimDillyDoo in my first pregnancy when I was around 36 weeks I think, I had the worst itching ever, it drove me crazy!! They tested my bloods for ICP which was fine. Ended up realising it’s because I’d changed our washing powder to Fairy non bio for the baby’s clothes and I was obviously allergic 🙄😂 it was also a heatwave of 30+ so that just made it ten times worse. Either way I would definitely mention to midwife and get your bloods done just to be safe x

Hello ladies, just spotted this thread, I haven't been on mn for a while. I'm due 6th June, however my first was born at 32 weeks and second at 36 weeks so I'm on tenterhooks everyday!!

Vimto1991 · 03/05/2022 13:46

@CurryandSnuggle mines done something similar!

for anyone itchy someone here recommended pine soap and it’s been amazing to use, the whole house smells like a bonfire but now not as itchy.

@thewindbeneathmywings welcome to the group! Looks like they get later each pregnancy!

Just had my private scan, all looks okay, we saw 4D, too and baby was chilling and drinking with their hands on their face. Sonographer wasn’t concerned, but she was concerned about all the movement I had yesterday and told me to go have another ctg. I might as well live in Wolverhampton at this point. 🙈

Lostintranslatio · 03/05/2022 14:18

Ladies, trying to get my head around the hospital bag. My hospital list says a nightie or t-shirt for birth and then pyjamas for the days after. How many pyjamas would I need? FTM here and I dunno how messy it will be 😂

unknownscot · 03/05/2022 14:33

Just a wee reminder all medicines will say consult with GP as you can't morally test any medicines on a pregnant woman so they can't state it will be safe for use even though most are.

EarlGreywithLemon · 03/05/2022 16:16

@Lostintranslatio I took a couple of nighties and did run out, but then we were there for 5 days - for a standard stay a couple should be plenty. Personally I found nighties and dresses much easier to wear than pyjamas/trousers on my episiotomy/ tear stitches - also given the midwives were checking the stitches quite a few times. Hopefully that won’t be the case for you either though.

A very odd one that I wasn’t aware of as a FTM is the post partum night sweats! It’s your body getting rid of some of the accumulated extra liquid. Mine were quite extreme. I think that’s one of the main reasons why it was useful to have back up nightwear in hospital, although a hospital gown also works if stuck!

Lostintranslatio · 03/05/2022 16:19

@EarlGreywithLemon good point about the stitches! I'll get some nighties better 👍

Brightsmoke · 03/05/2022 17:16

@Prema112 I love my nursing chair! Look out for 2nd hand ones as they're normally really cheap!

Welcome @thewindbeneathmywings. 🤞🏻 this little one stays out until at least 37 weeks for you!

Cheeky wipes have 25% off until midnight tonight if anyone is looking at getting them :)

Rolledthedice · 03/05/2022 19:28

Eek my work sent out a suspect email that is making me and my team panic about redundancies! Is there legal protection against making pregnant mums redundant before their mat leave starts? I only just sent my form in!

Octoblockisadick · 03/05/2022 20:20

@Rolledthedice oh no, that sounds scary! I don't know anything specific, but this looks like a good website for some answers maternityaction.org.uk/advice/redundancy-during-pregnancy-and-maternity-leave/.
Would you be entitled to extra maternity pay from work or just SMP?

Re the nighties vs pj's question, nighties are probably easier in case of a c section too as no waistband on your wound.

Had my growth scan today, baby still expected to be big. Currently estimated about 6lb 13 at 34+3. Consultant still happy with everything though. Just another growth scan in 2 weeks, then an appointment to discuss birth preferences dependent on his size. Consultant seems very happy to let me decide what I want currently though which is nice!

RoseValleyRambles · 03/05/2022 21:23

Another growth scan here today too. Baby measuring big, but now on the 'right' side of the top percentile line. We also got to see him drinking!

Sonographer, like pretty much everyone else I've seen, was very on board with him being a c section baby. Ironically the only outlier has been the consultant, who asked if I'd 'want to try' a vaginal birth first. Because nothing sounds as fun as trying for one when you're highly likely to fail, and having to have an emcs... To be fair, I think she's thinking that I'm still early (32 weeks) so circumstances could change (eg fibroids shifting), and she was fine with my choice once I'd made it clear. But I'm glad I'm happy standing up for myself.

Had a two hour nap this evening. Absolutely blissful.

Octoblockisadick · 03/05/2022 21:52

@RoseValleyRamblesmine is on 97.5% line still I think, she didn't actually say tbh. Said he has dropped a tiny bit below the last % line from 2 weeks ago, but no concerns about it as everything seems normal and it could easily be measurement errors.
I'm ideally going to try for a vbac, but will see in 2 weeks when I've got an estimated size at 36+3 to see how feasible that is.
If they think he's going to be 11lb or something I'm having a section haha!

beansprout55 · 03/05/2022 22:41

So so glad all is well @Vimto1991. You must be so stressed you poor love 🙁 hope you're able to find the reassurance you need xx

A lot of you ladies keep mentioning your growth scans - is this standard for NHS? (I'm in Jersey) x

annie1994 · 04/05/2022 07:33

@beansprout55 the normal NHS scans are 12 and 20 weeks. Then if you have extra complications or the midwife is concerned about the baby growing too big/ small (from measuring your bump) they send you for growth scans every 2-4 weeks I think depending on the reason x

Octoblockisadick · 04/05/2022 07:43

My 4 year old been awake half the night throwing up 😩. Really awful for her, I'm hoping she's got the worst of it out.
Also selfishly hoping I don't get it, really don't fancy it at 34weeks. Worried if I got it that it might trigger some pains/ contractions.

thewindbeneathmywings · 04/05/2022 08:36

@beansprout55 I've been having growth scans every 4 weeks from 32 weeks. I was told it's because I'm over 40 and the placenta may not produce enough protein? I think it was in the last few weeks so the baby needs to be monitored in case he's not growing

Vimto1991 · 04/05/2022 09:23

@beansprout55 thank you, I was in for awhile last night on a ctg and it actually picked up baby moving every two minutes. It was scary to see the heart rate go up to 160 and down to 130 every few minutes but they actually brought in a doctor to asses, whose not worried at all, she said some babies are just very active and don’t need much rest (can’t really explain why it suddenly happened other than baby had moved positions). So very much given me a peace of mind needed, although monitored until my next scan, but that’s even more peace of mind.
I kinda hope they’re getting their energy out now? Maybe they’ll be super chill on the outside. 😂I have no idea who they’ve inherited this much active ness from lol

Vimto1991 · 04/05/2022 09:38

Also I fell over in the hospital car park, mixture off tiredness, and the pay point was on a decline, it was pitch black, and I just fell forward. I remember panicking so much about the baby on my way down I just fell onto my knees to take the brunt. I actually considered turning back around and asking them to make sure the baby was okay 😅🙈
My DH wasn’t there to pick me up and I kinda got stuck on the floor for a bit. 😂 it wasn’t really dignified 🙈

unknownscot · 04/05/2022 10:15

I'm so dizzy today, and quite a bit of back pain and pins & needles in my legs.
Hoping it just positional as baby is moving quite happily.

Eugh.

Brightsmoke · 04/05/2022 11:25

Snappsies @Octoblockisadick, my little one measured 6lb 12 at 34+3. I'm praying it's a lb or 2 out 😅. 10lb full term baby does not sound like fun 😬

Flowerbug1994 · 04/05/2022 12:02

Anyone else struggling with work ?? I haven’t got a scrap of energy to do anything I’ve litterly sat staring at this screen for 4 hours haven’t types a word !! Am 34+5 today finishing at 37 xxx

AlbatrossSociety · 04/05/2022 12:31

@Flowerbug1994 yep!! Absolutely. Just cannot bring myself to focus on work at all. I have so much to do before I finish at May half term and I just haven't been able to do anything. I'm struggling!

@Vimto1991 oh no!! Are your knees okay? I went to an appt alone the other day and cried because I couldn't find a parking space for 25 mins!! I can definitely see how I would have gotten flustered and tripped. I've also had a massive increase in the amount of movement I can feel since 31 weeks but I think that it's just a combination of a change in position and growth as before I couldn't feel much due to anterior high placenta.

Also out of curiosity, in my nct group, everyone who knows what they're having is having a girl. Is this thread girl heavy too?? Or do we have a balance??

Vimto1991 · 04/05/2022 12:43

@AlbatrossSociety think my left knee took the brunt! I’m okay, my pride isn’t 😂 the path was on a decline, and my belly
is massive so I think gravity pulled me down. 🙈 yeah sounds same as me re:movement, it’s really nice to hear someone else say the same (I have anterior, too). Consultant said position and growth, too, it’s nice to feel don’t get me wrong, I just thought baby was very quiet before, turns out they’re very active. 😂 got my work cut out for me. Trouble is, when they’re quiet, I now panic. 🙈 but consultant gave me a one hour rule of movement.
25 minutes is mental! When I was back and forth with my thyroid it was like that, could never get a parking space!! Since covid it has got a bit better to be fair, hospital car parks are terrible and expensive. 😩

@unknownscot have you got a blood pressure monitor? May just have gone a bit low, try to have some water and a sit down if you can. Just a lovely pregnancy side affect. 😩
