I know this is very early but I wanted to start a thread for those with a January 2023 due date.

I got my BFP 2 days ago and am about 4 weeks pregnant today. I already have a little boy born in November 2020 and I’m super excited for him to get a sibling but I know it’s early days and have had 2 early miscarriages in the past so slightly nervous too!

I'm very lucky with my work, my boss is so so so supportive and has been with me every step of the way the last 2 years as we dealt with infertility, she herself had 5 miscarriage. She was the first person I called when I got the positive tests, so at least I don't have to worry about telling her 🤣🤣

babyjellyfish · 17/05/2022 15:42

My bosses were very supportive last time and I'm sure they will be openly supportive this time. But I'm equally sure they will be wishing I had waited a bit longer between babies.

Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself. It might not stick.

First ultrasound tomorrow.

I'm in the awkward position of having just moved house (we'd only been in the new house a few days when I got the BFP) and since we moved 500 miles I am looking for a new job... I hate the thought of being hired and trained only to leave in a few months, it feels ungrateful, but we need the extra income. Has anyone been in this position before/is anyone else in this position? I'm thinking of getting a job in a large company like a supermarket (outside of my career but I'd feel less bad leaving after a short time than I would if I started somewhere with a small team). Or maybe a WFH job, in the hope I can do it right up until due date? Any ideas would be appreciated!

@Babycakes1989 Yes had those crampy and sharper pains from about 4+5 for couple of weeks but they eased off then (presumbly once the bean got cosy lol!)

@IE00 yes my sleep was awful and broken from about 5w I would wake up mutliple times and be awake for hrs at a time... its only this week Ive managed about 6 or 7hrs of proper sleep 🙈🙈

I’m worried about telling work too. I’m a teacher and I feel like I need to do it sooner rather than later so they can do a risk assessment and plan for next year. But on the other hand I’m 40 and don’t really want to break the news until I know it’s going to stick. Things are great at work and I feel anxious already about needing to take time off!

Same here! Ideally would like to tell work this side of half term so they can plan classes for the next year but on the other hand telling work before I’ve had any kind of scan worries me.

PurpleSpottedLeopard · 17/05/2022 20:34

@sparklyhippo and @Badhairday101 me too! It’s really tricky knowing when to tell. On one hand I’d like to know that a proper risk assessment is in place and not have to worry about arranging time off for appointments but on the other I’d rather wait until I know that everything is going well. I feel bad not saying anything yet though when I know that classes for next year are starting to be decided.

Badhairday101 · 17/05/2022 21:19

@sparklyhippo @PurpleSpottedLeopard snap, I feel like I need to tell them before classes are decided. I might tell the head/SLT straight after half term and ask them to just keep it quiet. If I wait until my scan it will be around the last week of term which is too late.
I teach in a special school and sometimes the children can be aggressive and staff need to physically intervene. My current class are key stage 4 and really mature, sensible and just lovely but they move on to college next year. I’m unlikely to have such a settled class in September so the risk will definitely need to be considered.

41andtryingforfirst · 17/05/2022 21:20

@IE00 I am awake every day between 4.30 and 5am. It's ridiculous.

@Moosh18 I have cramps every morning - that's what wakes me up every day. Cramps then on and off throughout the day but I think it's linked to the bloating.

@brogan12 @MrsGrealish no one can believe how bloated I am. I think I'm going to have to buy some maternity wear as nothing fits. I'm huge!!!

Poppyjen · 17/05/2022 22:07

Hello 👋 may I join? Hi to @MrsGrealish and @Badhairday101 who I have been chatting to on other threads…

Due Jan 16th with #4 - and at 40 too. First 2 pregnancies were a breeze, last one 3 years ago was definitely more difficult…throw in a miscarriage and an ectopic into the mix and safe to say I am feeling a little nervous!

5+1 today and feeling crushingly tired. It begins…😂

Is it too late to join this January thread? Found out I was pregnant last week. Due date is Jan 25th. Had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks in October and a chemical pregnancy last month so I’m a nervous wreck and am overthinking every possible symptom 🥴. I feel crazy. Right now my current worry is that my boob soreness seems to be getting less which is what happened for the chemical pregnancy but my pregnancy tests are very positive. For the chemical pregnancy the tests got lighter and lighter so I’m probably ok? Anyone else have similar experiences or have breast tenderness that waxed and waned early on? Congrats to you all!

@MrsGrealish thanks for the reply! Glad I’m not alone with the waxing and waning boob tenderness!

41andtryingforfirst · 18/05/2022 06:33

@freckles503 hi @freckles503 welcome to the thread. My due date is 23rd Jan so very close to yours!

I haven't had any boob soreness (they're just massive and heavy) but apart from the bloat all other symptoms wax and wane atm x
