@aNewYorkerInLondon yes! I'm seriously anxious in the evenings and been randomly in tears the last few nights 😮

Hi everyone, I don’t think I actually posted about the arrival of our little girl on 10th May - Matilda is just perfect!

We have been living in our little newborn bubble, until last Sunday anyway when my two and half year little boy broke his leg and is now going to be in hospital for 2-3 weeks with his leg in traction for the bone to heal.

Not the start to our life as a family of four we thought we would have! At first the ward refused to allow the baby to visit with me, despite explaining that I am breastfeeding so can’t be far away from her. After our amazing Health Visitor stepped in, the last couple of days I have been able to visit with Matilda.

I’ve included a picture of the big brother and little sister 🥰

@BabyOnBoard90 thinking of you. Hopefully the gel gives things a bump to progress in the right direction 🤞

@Kittycaz @YfenniChristie @GinnyBee How are you all getting on?

@JMill13 its incredible how that low can hit you, I hope you’ve managed to get some sleep and things are feeling a bit better x

So our daughter was delivered by emergency c-section on the 16th.

My body reacted way too strongly /badly to the pill that they had to take it out after a few hours. My contractions were very strong and baby's heart rate dropped with each contraction. This failed to dilate cervix.

They broke waters, and it had the same effect. They eventually gave me the synthetic hormone drip which had the worst effect of all the interventions, had me vomiting and nearly passing out in pain, which meant they had to pause drip and give epidural.

While that provided momentary relief, there was ultimately still fetal distress so we were rushed into theatre.

Thankfully baby was completely fine and healthy, oblivious to the drama surrounding her. I'm currently on the mend.

Admittedly it was quite a traumatic experience. There were some failings by the staff, such as not letting me stand and be in a more comfortable position for several hours, but they were quite nice and professional overall.

Just not how I envisaged the birthing, and it's a bit of a challenge with bodily changes (I.e. scar /pain). But I'm trying best to focus on positive, baby is here and healthy, and I will recover.

Honeymint · 27/05/2022 06:23

@BabyOnBoard90 Congratulations on your LO! Goodness though it really sounds like you’ve been through the ringer, you poor thing! I hope you’re getting an extra dose of pampering after everything you’ve been through?

@Yellowbelly12 Congratulations! Matilda is such a lovely name, I don’t think I’ve ever met one either. And a lovely picture of siblings together even if it isn’t in ideal circumstances. I hope you’re all doing well now!

Honeymint · 27/05/2022 06:29

I’m 40+1 today and had to have the induction talk with doctors yesterday after a scan. Thankfully everything on the scan looked okay so they’re happy for me to wait another week but I’m getting more nervous about induction as time goes on.
I’m trying so hard to shut the world out and channel ‘spa vibes’ as the midwife calls them. The sheer volume of ‘is the baby here yet’ texts is overwhelming!

Hopefully things will get moving on their own soon and I can join you all in baby bubble land! 🤞🤞🤞

Bubbasmama2017 · 27/05/2022 08:44

@BabyOnBoard90 wow sounds like you went through a lot, I hope you can get some support to deal with it all. Congratulations x

Yellowbelly12 · 27/05/2022 09:29

Thank you and good luck @Honeymint i went to 41+6 with my little boy and then it was an induction 🤦‍♀️. He was way too happy inside me!

JMill13 · 28/05/2022 19:37

@BabyOnBoard90 ah congrats! Sounds like you went through the ringer, hopefully all is well now and you enjoy all the newborn goodness 💜

Hi ladies, congrats on all your little ones!! our little girl arrived 2 weeks ago by emergency c-section under general anaesthetic. It wasn’t the birth we had anticipated but we’re just so happy she arrived safely in what were quite risky circumstances. I was wondering if the other ladies who had a c-section are experiencing similar issues to me - 2 weeks on, I’m still getting gastrointestinal issues like a very crampy stomach after eating which then leads to a loss of appetite. I also have a persistent sharp pain in my lower right hand side which feels like trapped wind but never seems to go away and kind of hurts when I breathe. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Bubbasmama2017 · 01/06/2022 13:35

@MrsMcH2022 congratulations x

Bubbasmama2017 · 01/06/2022 13:39

We've been having some fairly long stretches of sleep in the night, baby is 15 days old. Last night however was a train wreck and she's been non stop feeding so I'm absolutely shattered and no patience for DD1 :( has anyone noticed a pattern with their feeding yet? I'm on demand breast feeding which can be every 2-3 hours or every 15 mins!
Considering introducing formula 2-3 bottles a day to get a break has anyone successfully combi fed?

H0peing · 01/06/2022 15:25

Congratulations to everyone who has their babies! @Honeymint Glad everything looked good on your scan! Not long now! Xx

H0peing · 01/06/2022 15:43

Clusterfeeding this time around is sooo intense! I'm almost constantly feeding her when she's awake and she cries if I put her down to sleep! She wasn't consistently latching at first so we used bottles and she was not clingy at all then but I used nipple shields, which helped her to be fed directly by me and then after a few days of that she didn't need the nipple shields anymore and now she is extremely clingy with me. She's only 4 weeks old and I know that some babies are clingy at this age, especially so soon after the cosiness of the womb, but I am relieved that she'll still take a bottle from my husband once per night otherwise I wouldn't get a chance to sleep! Ironic that I was so eager for her to arrive to share cuddles with her and now the cuddles are almost non-stop to the point where it's difficult for me to eat, sleep and use the toilet! I'm definitely thankful for her and the cuddles, especially as she is my Rainbow baby, but this is definitely a new experience for me that I didn't have with my now 6yo son. Xx

@Bubbasmama2017 My husband sometimes offers her a 2nd bottle if she's hungry when I'm in the shower in the morning. She seems happy to take a bottle or two from my DH and happy for me to breastfeed her for the rest of the day. Xx

Bubbasmama2017 · 01/06/2022 15:55

@H0peing I know the feeling, we're never alone these days! How many ounces do you usually give in the bottle? I'm struggling to express more than an ounce so thinking of getting some aptamil as that is what I used with my daughter.

JMill13 · 01/06/2022 21:09

@MrsMcH2022 congrats! Sorry can't help with the pain side of things I didn't have that after either of my sections. Have you spoken to your midwife or HV?

JMill13 · 01/06/2022 21:14

We're 3 weeks in, exclusively formula feeding which is mostly every 3-4 hours (has been since the day she was born) but then other times she wakes in between for another 30-60ml (1-2oz) or if she's awake for longer than about an hour she'll look for more. Just sort of rolling with it. Though it's doing my head in the amount of wasted formula.

This has been the hardest week so far, toddler is barely sleeping and now OH and I have tested positive for blinkin' Covid. Pretty sure toddler has it too but he's not even 2 so don't want to test him and he's been miserable today and sleeping lots. OH currently has him in our bed so looks like I'm on the sofa for a second night running. Thank god it's a comfy sofa. But yeah not much sleep happening for either of 2 adults in the house at the minute.

H0peing · 02/06/2022 09:09

@Bubbasmama2017 She has about 3 ounces when DH feeds her a bottle at around 10pm. She doesn't usually want a bottle when I get in the shower in the morning. I feed her shortly before he offers her a bottle. She definitely seems hungrier in the evening and overnight.

We used Aptamil but I've noticed that she's quite windy after the bottle of Aptamil. I know that some babies are fine with Aptamil but I was just checking online to see which formula other mums recommend and there seems to be some talk about the palm oil in some formula's possibly causing problems to digest so I'm planning to try the organic version of Aptamil, which doesn't seem to have palm oil in it and I'm going to try Hipp organic as well. Kendamil seems like a good one but it seems tricky to get hold of the ready-made one. We currently feed her a bottle of ready-made formula at room temperature. I'm trying to avoid complicating things by changing to a powdered version. X

Bubbasmama2017 · 02/06/2022 09:09

@JMill13 sorry to hear that! Hope you're all negative soon fingers crossed

H0peing · 02/06/2022 09:13

@JMill13 Sorry to hear that you have Covid! I really hope that you all feel better soon and can catch up on some sleep! Xx

JMill13 · 02/06/2022 09:42

Thanks ladies!
Day 4 today and test was a lot fainter so praying for negative tomorrow. I need to get the toddler out of the house before we all drive each other crazy.

It's Kendamill I'm using this time round, (we used cow & Gate anti-reflux last time) we're on to the powder form but I've seen lots of the ready to feed 70ml starter packs in Tesco every time I've been in so far. Savers do it too and you can order direct from their website.

Bubbasmama2017 · 02/06/2022 10:07

@H0peing thanks I might try another brand in that case, not sure what supermarkets are open today but we're having a particularly hard morning of lots of feeding and crying so I'm keen to try a bottle and see if it helps. She would usually start a longer nap about now, I just managed to have a very quick shower before she was crying for me again

YfenniChristie · 02/06/2022 11:17

Morning everyone and congratulations to everyone whose little ones have arrived recently!

DS is nearly 4 weeks old and every time I think we've cracked it, he throws us a curveball. I think he's been cluster feeding in recent days but we've fallen into this pattern where he latches on, feeds, falls asleep and drops off the latch, then immediately starts crying for a feed but struggles to latch on again 🤦🏼‍♀️

C-section seems to be healing ok. It's still red in places but not infected so the steroid cream seems to be working? I have noticed a few stitches sticking outwards, plus a knot at the end - does anyone else have this? I'm having a phone call with the midwife sometime today so planning on mentioning it

@Bubbasmama2017 We're combi feeding - DS has two sittings of formula a day, one in the evening c.8pm and one in the morning c.5am which gives me a break/lie in. He has about 30mls in the evening as anything more than that means he just snacks for all of 5-10mins overnight and messes with my supply. In the morning, he'll have anything from 30 to 100ml but will feed well for the rest of the day.

Bubbasmama2017 · 02/06/2022 13:02

@YfenniChristie thanks that's good to know

Honeymint · 07/06/2022 06:38

Just a note to say our daughter (finally) arrived on 03/06 weighing 6lb 5!
She took her time getting here and I’m ngl delivery was pretty traumatic, but she’s here now. We had to stay in the hospital for a bit but actually the food wasn’t terrible and the staff were lovely.

Also I think I underestimated how painful actually recovering from the birth would be!

Is anybody still waiting on their DC?
