@SupportNeed good luck with your scan today, we’ll be thinking of you xx

Artisticpiglet3 · 28/04/2022 07:16

Spotting again 🤦 got my scan date through its in exactly two weeks so not long to wait and I definitely found heartbeat but my god the stress every time I go to the toilet is like nothing I've ever experienced. Genuinely don't think I can try for any more children again after this because I don't think I can do this stress again

Norberta · 28/04/2022 07:38

Good luck today @SupportNeed i was a mess before our first scan because of what had happened with the MMC at the previous one but now I’ve had a good scan I’m not half as scared of them I’m sure you’ll be fine this time.

@Arwen7 sounds like you’ve had such a rough time. Well done to you for being so strong this is a lucky thread I think so I’m sure you’ll get your happy ending this time! Also my symptoms have been up and down. I had a worrying week at 8 weeks where I felt great but now I feel extremely hungover every day again so I think it does just ebb and flow. I’m also nearly 10 weeks so right here with you!

flowergarden16 · 28/04/2022 08:20

I'm ten weeks tomorrow and hoping I will start to feel a bit brighter soon. Although will freak me out until my next scan I'm sure!

flowergarden16 · 28/04/2022 08:20

Good luck @SupportNeed and @Artisticpiglet3 how frustrating for you. X

arianasky · 28/04/2022 09:05

@Arwen7 same 🤞🏻🌈

Good luck today @SupportNeed 💕🌈

Also 10 weeks today quite a few of us turning 10 weeks today 🎉

Cruz86 · 28/04/2022 09:10

Thank you all so much 🥰🥰 I thought I'd celebrate last night but, instead, I fell asleep with my son at 8 😂

Good luck today @SupportNeed, it's a really anxious time so let yourself feel how you feel ❤️

Hope you start to feel better soon @arianasky!

I still have the odd cramp/twinge here and there @sunnyd67.

Welcome @Arwen7 and sorry for what you've been through. I hope you find some comfort being part of this thread ☺️

Hope you're okay @Artisticpiglet3. Spotting must be so triggering to see.

Xx

aesgriff · 28/04/2022 15:05

Ladies who have Dopplers - can you recommend one or give any tips or tricks? Xx

Cruz86 · 28/04/2022 15:13

@aesgriff I've got one from Anna Wiz. I'd just say move it round slowly and start right above your pubic bone, although you're a bit further along so you may be able to find the heartbeat higher up. Don't necessarily focus on the number that appears on the screen because baby's heartbeat may be very faint in the background. If you hear anything fast, move the Doppler around a bit in that area and don't be afraid to push down a little. It should get louder when you have the right spot. Your heartbeat will be significantly lower and you'll hear lots of whooshing noises from your placenta etc xx

Thank you @Cruz86 that’s super detailed 🤩 have you ever not been able to find baby’s heartbeat? Xx

Cruz86 · 28/04/2022 15:26

No worries @aesgriff ☺️ The first time I used it in this pregnancy I had to take a break and come back to it, really started to panic! Then I realised the baby is a lot lower down than I thought. I've found the heartbeat every time since and used one with my son too with no issues xx

aesgriff · 28/04/2022 15:49

Thank you!! @Cruz86 will take a look at Ana wizz. How are you feeling? I am non-stop up and down I can barely check mumsnet with out going into overthink mode xx

Cruz86 · 28/04/2022 15:57

Oh hun, I'm sorry you're still struggling 😞 Are you feeling anxious every day, for most of the day @aesgriff? Have you spoken to your midwife about a referral to the perinatal mental health team? I actually feel great at the moment but it might be because I'm in a bubble after my scan yesterday! I'm booking a private one for the 21st May to find out the sex, just trying to stay positive xx

Roll on next sat got a gender scan can't believe we have got this far and going to do a gender reveal with the kids so we all find out together!
What's everyone think there going to have? X

aesgriff · 28/04/2022 16:03

@Cruz86 I’ve been given the contact details for the perinatal team to fab so will get in touch with them. Just feel like I’ve been fobbed off so much and really not sure what they’ll bring to the party.. do you know much about them? Your scan pic looks amazing 🥰🥰 particularly with the reassurance of the Doppler too. I’ve booked a gender scan for bang on 16 weeks! How far along will you be for yours? Xx

Cruz86 · 28/04/2022 16:12

Oh that's good @aesgriff! I've been referred and got some info in the post about some online groups that they're running, just a chance to talk through things with others. And then once it gets closer to birth, I'll have a plan in place to try and avoid PND like I had before. I've never really used the service for during pregnancy but I will do this time round for the anxiety. If they suspect your anxiety is high, I'm sure they'll do a personalised plan for you. That's the impression I got from my midwife anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️ Woo! So excited for us! I'll be 16+1 😂 xx

Can't wait to hear what you'll be having @mrshodgy21!! I think girl for me xx

Thank you ladies, it’s so good to connect with you.

@Artisticpiglet3 that must be so stressful. Take it easy and hope it settles before the next scan. Big hug x

@aesgriff Best dopplers are Huntleigh. I’m a midwife and those are the ones we use at the hospital. However they can be very expensive, I just found one yesterday on Ebay for £60 second hand. I know they are much cheaper ones on amazon but I personally don’t trust them. Yes at this point baby will be very low in the pelvis so around pelvic bone, angle the Doppler differently until you hear a galloping sound should be around 145-180bpm, the less weeks the faster. Never use a Doppler when you start feeling movements if you are worried about them as it can be a false reassurance, just go to triage.
Talking about this, I am at work today and because I was worried about lack of symptoms I borrowed the Doppler and heartbeat all good so feeling much better. I totally get that it can help when we are feeling so anxious x

aesgriff · 28/04/2022 18:00

@Arwen7 thank you that’s also great advice! I think I’m going to take the plunge and order one. I really hope it helps relieve some anxieties around how I’m feeling this time round xx

@Cruz86 I was adamant at the beginning that I didn’t want to find out… now here we are 🤣 thanks for letting me know about your experience. I hope they support you this time too.. you’ve encouraged me to contact them! Xx

Arwen7 · 28/04/2022 18:08

@aesgriff I forgot to mention if you do look at Huntleigh make sure it has the little screen with the number as the cheaper ones don’t, it’s much easier than counting and trying to figure out if it’s your heartbeat or baby’s.

Skl2021 · 28/04/2022 18:21

@mrshodgy21 Im thinking girl for me but all our family has had boys up to now including me so probably a boy 🤣🙊 have u any feelings to what your having? X
@Cruz86 I think your having boy of your scan 🙊 if I'm allowed a guess 🙊 xx

mrshodgy21 · 28/04/2022 18:30

@Skl2021 I really don't no I was adamant it was a boy at first now I swaying towards a girl lol I'm gonna be just under 16 weeks so hope they can tell me cause won't have all the kids together for another 2 weeks and I can't wait that long 🤣
I have quite a high heart rate so the old wives tales say girl lol x

mrshodgy21 · 28/04/2022 18:31

@Skl2021 this is my 12 weeks scan what do you think? X

Skl2021 · 28/04/2022 18:36

@mrshodgy21 what's the heart rate at? At my 16 week appointment baby's heart rate was 155. I'm not quite sure off your scan 🙊 I'm not great at guessing tho 🙈🤦 maybe more inclined towards girl xx

mrshodgy21 · 28/04/2022 18:43

@Skl2021 it's 163bpm just done it x
