My husband is doing my head in today. His list of crimes include:

  1. Tracking muddy prints all over my wet mopped floor
  2. Going shopping, coming back and leaving me with ALL of the groceries to put away on my own (he just took the kids to the park without so much as a word)
  3. Bringing home CIF shower spray when I asked for Flash bleach spray (we have black mould by the shower in the kid's bathroom)
  4. Telling me he's invited his in-laws over for a BBQ when we had agreed on a "lazy day in the garden" and with only 3 hours notice.

If you happen to see a pregnant woman on the news, accused with murdering her husband, give me a wave.

Hello 👋🏼

I've been admitted to hospital as my kidney problem has caused my bladder to go into full retention so I've had a catheter put in. I've had plenty in my life but this time it is excruciating. They are wanting me to take dihydracodeine but as the most paranoid pregnancy person there is I'm so worried.

I think I'll need to take it though because I am screaming in pain when I move even slightly.

☹️

pregnancydiaries · 16/04/2022 16:17

Ps @PeeAche2 just saw your post about the mat leave - so glad you got that sorted. Now get on the job hunt for a new job after and really screw them over!!!!xx

fpeg · 16/04/2022 16:44

@pregnancydiaries that sounds horrible! Hope you are better soon xxx sounds like you need to accept the pain relief, short term baby will be ok xxx

Vimto1991 · 16/04/2022 17:49

@pregnancydiaries oh no!! Hope you feel tons better quickly!! If they’re recommending that painkiller it must be safe in pregnancy, otherwise, is there something you’d rather take that you can ask them for instead?

PeeAche2 · 16/04/2022 17:52

Oh @pregnancydiaries that sounds awful. You poor thing. Thinking of you.xxx

Rolledthedice · 16/04/2022 18:43

@pregnancydiaries you poor thing! That sounds very painful, I hope you recover quickly! xx

pregnancydiaries · 16/04/2022 18:48

Thanks ladies ♥️♥️ needed that love, there have been a lot of tears today.

Ended up taking the dihydracodeine after reading some mumsnet forums of real life examples of people taking it in third trimester.

The catheter is so sore though and I'm unsure what the solution is. Keeping it in is unbearable pain, but if they take it out I'll just go into retention again.

Just hoping little one is ok, so far he's kicking away. Xxx

My trust no longer asks for an Lft to get into the antenatal ward, however my friend is being induced in just over a week and said they are asking her to come in two days before for a covid test, they’ve mentioned nothing to her about her partner. Does anyone know what trusts are typically doing at the moment? I’m giving myself anxiety and making myself cry at the thought of DH not being with me and me being alone because one of us has covid. He works at a supermarket and is only starting paternity 1st June when I’m due 8th June. I keep trying to get him to take more but he wants more time with baby when they’re here (and he seems convinced they’ll be later rather than early/on time). Really wish covid was a thing of the past now. It’s been over two bloody years. :(

Prema112 · 16/04/2022 19:11

@pregnancydiaries So sorry to hear you're in pain, how awful! Well done for taking the pain meds and I really hope they kick in and give you some relief. I'm sure baby will be fine they wouldn't give you something that would harm them xx

pregnancydiaries · 16/04/2022 19:20

@Vimto1991 today they did an LFT on me in triage before I was moved to the ward but just let my partner come on to the ward without any testing etc xx

Vimto1991 · 16/04/2022 20:36

@pregnancydiaries ooh okay, that sounds very much like my friend then as they’ve only told her about a test not her partner. Maybe they presume if one has it you both do. Fingers crossed all will be fine for all of us here!!

SouthwestSis · 17/04/2022 05:47

@Vimto1991 your OH is more likely to catch covid in a social situation when spending longer periods of time close by people indoors, can he be more careful at the end of May and socialise outdoors? Me and OH did this for the last weeks of my pregnancy (at the end of January! It was flipping cold! But worth it to make sure we didn't catch covid & that he could be there with me throughout).

PeeAche2 · 17/04/2022 09:01

@imhereforthecake the thread title is very accurate, btw. I am so round, I think I'm pretty much rolling everywhere now....

...🙂🙃🙂🙃🙂🙃...

Vimto1991 · 17/04/2022 09:44

@SouthwestSis were probably not going to be seeing anyone two weeks before due date. It’s only his work they worries me as it’s indoors and no one wears masks in a supermarket anymore (he still does, though!). He has a work night out end of May but he said if that crossed into two weeks before the due date he won’t go, other than that, we will avoid people. 😂
Although I’m finding people say oh can we see you before baby comes… what am I, a zoo? Why do people want to see a heavily pregnant woman. 😂

Prema112 · 17/04/2022 09:45

Happy Easter everyone! Having given up sugar for lent I've just eaten my weight in Easter eggs and baby is gonna mental 😂

@PeeAche2 So pleased to hear your work situ has completely turned around! Amazing, well done for fighting 💪

@pregnancydiaries How are you doing? X

pregnancydiaries · 17/04/2022 10:06

Thanks for asking @Prema112 ♥️ and happy Easter to you 🐣 Not great here but main thing is little one is ok.

Having a bit of a dilemma as urology are scared to go near me with me being pregnant and obstetrics don't exactly know what to do - passed about like a hot potato!!!

Good thing is the midwives are all being amazing so that's helping. But the pain, OMG THE PAIN.

Just waiting for the morning Ward round but with it being Easter Sunday I don't have high hopes....

InvisibleDragon · 17/04/2022 10:11

Happy Easter everyone!

@PeeAche2 really glad that Pregnant Then Screwed was able to get things moving with your totally unreasonable asshat managers!

@pregnancydiaries Hope you're feeling better soon! I wouldn't worry about the effects of the painkillers on the baby - women are offered opiate painkillers in labour, so they must be pretty safe. You not being in pain will be good for your baby too!

annie1994 · 17/04/2022 10:29

@sunflower198 thank you for your message! I can imagine recovery from an emergency c section is harder than an elective in most cases!

I’ve had a couple keyhole surgeries before and remember the trapped wind pain!! It is really sore, useful to know about the lactulose.

How old will your little one be when baby is born? I’m just worried about having a toddler on top of the newborn and recovery.

annie1994 · 17/04/2022 10:35

@pregnancydiaries you poor thing, that sounds awful! Can’t the obstetricians and urologists just work together and find a solution instead of passing you pillar to post! Really hope they do soon xx

Flowerbug1994 · 17/04/2022 11:04

Has anyone’s midwife spoke to them about birth plans Or birth preferences yet ? Mine hasn’t mentioned birth at all really only if he stays breech we’ll book a c section. I feel like am getting really close and she hasn’t even mentioned what I do if I go into labour at joke or waters break ? Also what kind of things go in a birth plan. I feel like am a go with the flow person if I need pain relief I’ll ask for it. Is it even worth doing one ?

Vimto1991 · 17/04/2022 11:20

@Flowerbug1994 I think they ask around 36 weeks which is a bit barmy. I also have no idea what to write on it other than water birth and gas and air. Or if I can’t have water birth straddling a chair and pethidine 😂
My midwife is leaving this month so hoping the next one is more informative.

EarlGreywithLemon · 17/04/2022 11:40

@pregnancydiaries you poor poor thing! I really hope they manage to sort something out to at least ease the pain. Glad little one is doing well, but sounds like you’re suffering, and something should be done to help you!!!
@annie1994 my toddler will be 2.5 at the time of the section. I have a close friend who had a two year old at the time of her ELCS and she handled it fine, so hoping for the same. Her only advice was not to overdo it. She felt much better after the ELCS than after her previous (complicated) section with placenta praevia, so she tried to jump straight back into doing everything - and did her back in very painfully. Then again I also did my back in extremely badly a month after my vaginal birth.
@Flowerbug1994 my birth plan was very straightforward the first time - early epidural; opt for EMCS over forceps (that didn’t work out!); skin to skin after birth; happy with the injection to deliver the placenta; happy for the baby to have the vitamin K injection.

fpeg · 17/04/2022 12:03

@Flowerbug1994 they don't discuss until around 36 weeks as so much can change before then (obviously they can still change after that but things generally more stable), this link walks you through things to think about and you can start it if you like: www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/labour-and-birth/preparing-for-the-birth/how-to-make-a-birth-plan/ I do think they could direct this to you earlier so that you can be thinking about it and come to that meeting prepared, but maybe they're trying to minimise preconceptions 🤷‍♀️

I got a plan from my hypnobirthing course, it's not detailed as I don't want it to be, as I don't want to set myself up for "failure" if things don't go as planned. So I'm keeping it vague and essentially my priorities are healthy baby with minimal harm to me as possible, any concerns go straight to c-section and don't hang about. Water birth if possible, allow me to ask for the drugs rather than shoving them at me (but I'm totally open to them!) and allow me to use hypnobirthing techniques. Yes to injection for delivery of placenta and yes to vitamin K.
