BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

1000 replies

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@Bluehawaii29 congrats! So pleased everything is ok. And what a lovely mother's day surprise, twins!

JMC91 · 27/03/2022 12:36

@Bluehawaii29 thanks very much. I'm having pain generally in my stomach and having trouble doing much at all. I was told no lifting but wasn't told bed rest, it does feel like I need to lie down a lot though.

My scan was on Tuesday at 8 weeks and the baby was 196mm and a strong heartbeat which was lovely to see! But the worries continue as I'm sure we all experience constant anxiety!!

I don't have another scan booked but I will be wanting one before my 12 week scan as it seems too long to wait

womaninkent · 27/03/2022 12:37

So pleased for you @Bluehawaii29

19.6mm not 196 😂

@Bluehawaii29 That's great you've found calling that helpline useful :) and glad you managed to get s private scan today for reassurance. Bleeding is so, so, so normal in early pregnancy, try not to worry if you're not having cramps. With my Subchorionic hematoma - I had a massive gush of blood with no warning, it soaked through my underwear and trousers before I even got to the bathroom. I had to wear pads that evening until fertility clinic could scan me the next day. I didn't bother with EPU because bleeding is so common and there is nothing they can really do to be honest. It's horrible when it's you in the situation, but it really is so common bleed. Even with a really heavy bleed, everything had been fine and there was no sign of the bleed by 12 week scan. Fingers crossed both embryos keep going strong 💪

@Justawannabemam Great to hear all 3 are doing well and that you'll be seen earlier at the hospital to keep an eye on things :)

We told my family this weekend that were expecting Grin

Bluehawaii29 · 27/03/2022 17:43

@2mumlife thank you, yes it’s completely calmed down today. Was a very tiny one according to sonographer and she hopes for it to resolve by the scan in 2 weeks. Just going to take it easy and planning on reading some books tomorrow. Even revisiting my harry potter book collection. Got a few days off work so time to rest. Yeah I’m going to cancel EPU appt when they call tomorrow.

That must have been such lovely news for your parents and a wonderful mothers day xx

Bluehawaii29 · 27/03/2022 17:44

@JMC91 hope you are feeling better x
@womaninkent thank you, it was a big relief ❤️

Overlyanxious · 27/03/2022 18:15

@2mumlife that's so exciting you told family today

@Bluehawaii29 some reading sounds good.

@JMC91 another scan sounds good before 12 weeks to get some reassurance. I hope you're feeling a bit better now

JMC91 · 27/03/2022 18:30

@Overlyanxious thank you. Ive text my midwife about my pain and the Orange discharge and she says to call GP in the morning to rule out a urine infection.
The pain hasn't gotten any better but hoping I can get it sorted soon!

Overlyanxious · 27/03/2022 19:31

@JMC91 hope all goes well with the GP tomorrow x

Ivfmum2022 · 27/03/2022 19:49

Hey ladies. Just to let you all know that’s me out. We lost our baby last Thursday which was been such a devastation. Never did I think that the journey to have a baby would be so emotional or so difficult! I am wishing you all the best and I really hope all your scans this week go well. I know you are all gonna be amazing mamas xx

Overlyanxious · 27/03/2022 20:17

@Ivfmum2022 I'm so sorry. It is devastating. Please be kind to yourself through this horrible time xx

Justawannabemam · 27/03/2022 20:29

@Ivfmum2022 I’m so sorry to hear this, it’s such a nightmare to go through this and when you have put so much in to it makes it so much harder. I hope you can take time to rest and get enough support from friends and family at this difficult time 💐💙

Bryterlayter1 · 27/03/2022 20:47

@Ivfmum2022 I'm so very sorry to read this. Take care of yourself x.

Frenchiepupmama · 27/03/2022 22:22

Aww thanks so much for adding me. 💕 Now ten weeks pregnant, have no morning sickness which makes me worry why I don't have any 🤔 my boobs r litarly exploding out my bra 🙈
Been stuck down with covid this weekend too. So I need to call the midwife tomorrow as I'm not sure what else to do? I don't think they will be able to do anythin apart from hopefully reassure me.
Had planned for bra fitting but had to cancel that and also we had booked a restaurant to tell the inlaws with a bottle of wine with a label on it announcing pregnancy but 😷 cancelled that so it was social distance across the street and the surprise reaction on the doorstep was amazing.
Booked for private scan next Saturday should be 11 weeks and 3 days. Then nhs scan 12th April will make me 13 weeks. Due 20th October.
How's everyone doin? Xxx

Frenchiepupmama · 27/03/2022 22:25

@Ivfmum2022 I'm so so sorry to read this I just scrolled to bottom first to write a message then worked my way back reading.
I'm so so sorry again xxx

2mumlife · 28/03/2022 08:57

@Bluehawaii29 Glad you're feeling more positive.

@Ivfmum2022 I'm sorry to hear your news. Not the same but I had a chemical pregnancy the cycle before this pregnancy, and it's crap when you think it's finally your turn and it isnt. I know it won't be comforting for everyone but the only comfort I could find was just the assumption that these things end because the embryo was never viable - you didn't lose anything, because you did nothing wrong.

Everyone (or feels like everyone) on my September due group are having private sex scans, and it's driving me mad because they keep referring to gender. And who gives a damn what genitalia it has if you get to have a healthy baby!? Am I the only one who feels like that?

Overlyanxious · 28/03/2022 09:44

@2mumlife the private gender scans would probably bother me if I was on one of those groups as I would just be anxious that the baby is ok.

xreadytoglow · 28/03/2022 10:52

I'm so sorry to hear your news @Ivfmum2022 💐 take care of yourself x

Heyyy @Frenchiepupmama I'm sorry you're down with covid! Hope you're not feeling too rubbish. That's a shame you couldn't do the restaurant idea, but I'm glad the doorstep surprise was still just as special.

@2mumlife aww lovely that you felt ready to share the news with family. Not gonna lie, I'll be getting a private gender scan but we're honestly not bothered if it's a boy or girl, like you say as long as they're healthy. Will just help us to know so we can buy things and arrange nursery etc. Will you find out sex or wait till birth?

We had a great day yesterday telling our parents. Very very emotional. I felt so drained last night from it all and had proper sickness last night and this morning for the first time. I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow. Next scan is a private one on the 12th of April when I'll be 10 weeks. We've invited our mums to come which could go one of two ways .. but I'm keeping my positive hat on !!

We should do a due date list and either '👶🏻', '👶🏻👶🏻' or '👶🏻👶🏻👶🏻' next to our names because I can't remember now who has multiples and who doesn't, there's that many multiples mamas in here! 🤍

womaninkent · 28/03/2022 11:25

@Ivfmum2022 I'm so sorry to hear this.

Bluehawaii29 · 28/03/2022 12:42

@xreadytoglow glad you had a lovely Mother’s Day. Must be such a relief to get it off your chest finally and you did so well not telling anyone up till now. I’ve told a handful of friends and work colleagues now but in terms of family still just our parents know. this is a good idea about Baby no. And due date. I think mine is 👶🏽👶🏽 Due on 20th Nov but will get confirmation of that on 13th April scan x

xreadytoglow · 28/03/2022 13:05

@Bluehawaii29 thank you! Honestly it's been a nightmare keeping it secret 😂
We put an offer in on a house last year but still don't have the keys yet. So we've gone through the whole process of IVF and up until now living with my MIL, SIL and niece and managed to keep it a secret. They had absolutely no idea when we told them yesterday. We did the injections at my wife's office, came up with all sorts of elaborate excuses for leaving home at 6:30am (instead of 8:30!), sneaking out at the weekend. I honestly don't know how we pulled it off!!!
My mum and dad were also in complete utter shock. We filmed both sides reactions and all of them took about 2 minutes to figure out what we were showing them 😂😂 so much disbelief.

Bryterlayter1 · 28/03/2022 14:30

@xreadytoglow I can't believe you were able to do a secret ivf cycle whilst living with in laws. That is seriously impressive. Hope you get the keys to the house soon, that's another very stressful process.

xreadytoglow · 28/03/2022 14:38

@Bryterlayter1 thank you! The end is near.. contracts exchanging this week. 🤞🏼
Honestly I don't know how we pulled it off either 😂. My egg collection was the day after valentines so we said were going to a spa for the morning. We even got pictures from Google and put them on Facebook 🙈
