BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

1000 replies

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@Overlyanxious thank you, I’m feeling a bit more rested now. I don’t think sitting for hrs at a&e and all that stress helped me but it’s currently stopped and passed urine a few times now and nothing so I just have to pray that it was placental or cervix related and have been on bed rest since which is helpin. Even brushed my teeth from bed either my partners help. He’s been amazing and I’m lucky to have him. I think it’s just been such a rollercoaster today but I just need to rest and hopefully can have the scan on Monday with EPU. I won’t be going to work while on this bed rest. Just need time to rest my mind and body and get through this x

Bluehawaii29 · 26/03/2022 20:24

@Bryterlayter1 thanks yes I have heard it can be normal and my mum actually bled till 20weeks with both me and my brother. Hers was from 8-12 week to 20week but also related to placenta. My friend is gynae consultant and she was saying that the embryo is attaching to placental blood at the moment and these kind of bleeds can happen. Just hope mine is a small one 🙏🏽

Overlyanxious · 26/03/2022 20:24

@Bluehawaii29 I'm glad to hear you're feeling more rested. These situations are so horrible and they just send you into these horrible emotional spirals where it's difficult to calm yourself down. Bed rest sounds like the best thing and hopefully you will be so tired from today you will go to sleep very easily x

Millymillymillymillymilly · 26/03/2022 21:25

@Bluehawaii29 Hopefully there’s someone around you can talk to? Even if if just letting out your emotion? I’m so sorry you are going through this and hope you stay strong!

@Overlyanxious did you end up helping? We’ve been avoiding going out or doing things that’s too out of the norm. Luckily I’m not a big drinker so not drinking for a while has not raised suspicion. But I think I’m about to crack… so just hoping this scan comes soon so I can relax. I know 7 weeks is still early but I think I need to tell my in laws at least :)

Overlyanxious · 26/03/2022 21:43

@Millymillymillymillymilly no I didn't help. I told my sister why I couldn't help and then had a disjointed chat about it as was hiding it from my nephews who were helping. I don't really drink much so no one notices and I haven't been in that situation yet anyway.

After my miscarriage my in laws said they didn't want to know early again so I know not to say anything till 12 weeks. Their attitude has slightly scarred me which is why I don't want to tell anyone.

Millymillymillymillymilly · 26/03/2022 23:58

@Overlyanxious I guess they might not want to be disappointed but it must be hard when your close ones can’t be there to support you during the time of need. I was happy to tell my in laws straight away as they’ve always been very supportive but my husband didn’t want to give them hope and then take it away should anything go wrong. I guess it’s a kind thing to do.

Millymillymillymillymilly · 26/03/2022 23:59

@Overlyanxious glad you are able to talk to your sister though! It’s nice to share the anxiety with someone other than your other half :)

Bluehawaii29 · 27/03/2022 08:45

@Millymillymillymillymilly @Overlyanxious hi not doing good, was up all night so anxious and dry mouth. Brown Spotting again this morning but still no pain or cramps. Doesn’t make any sense. Have private scan now at 10.30. Leaving in a bit

Overlyanxious · 27/03/2022 09:53

Good luck @Bluehawaii29 x

Millymillymillymillymilly · 27/03/2022 10:14

@Bluehawaii29 Good luck!

Bryterlayter1 · 27/03/2022 10:15

Good call @Bluehawaii29, glad you could get a scan on a Sunday.

Overlyanxious · 27/03/2022 10:15

@Millymillymillymillymilly it helps that my sister has been pregnant - so she understands. She said she was anxious all the way through.

Justawannabemam · 27/03/2022 10:23

@Bluehawaii29 hope everything goes OK for you x

@Justawannabemam @Overlyanxious @Millymillymillymillymilly @Bryterlayter1 thank you for your support guys. I’m just in shock. I thought it was all over but we saw 2 heart beats flickering on the scan. It’s twins! ❤️❤️ They saw a small subchorionic haematoma above which they say is harmless and should resolve gradually but she said I need to take lots of care of myself now need lots of bed rest x

Overlyanxious · 27/03/2022 11:16

@Bluehawaii29 that's amazing. Congratulations on the twins. I'm so pleased it was good news x

Justawannabemam · 27/03/2022 11:51

@Bluehawaii29 are they identical ? How far on are you .x

Bluehawaii29 · 27/03/2022 11:54

@Justawannabemam good question, I’m not sure of that actually. Didn’t ask them. I just assumed both 4BBs must have survived but it’s possible one split as I have twin history in my family too x

Justawannabemam · 27/03/2022 12:00

@Bluehawaii29 fabulous!!! How's upur partner x

Bluehawaii29 · 27/03/2022 12:04

@Justawannabemam he’s been so strong, drove us all the way to mitcham this morning after we both had another sleepless night. He was over the moon seeing it on the cool big tv screen that they had. Really glad we went private in the end as they didn’t even need to do internal scan. Saw everything they needed to on the abdo one x

Millymillymillymillymilly · 27/03/2022 12:08

@Bluehawaii29 oh wow! So happy for you!!!! I’m glad everything is ok! And it’s great how you can see everything without the internal scan! Rest up and hope you’re feeling better x

JMC91 · 27/03/2022 12:17

I hope it's ok to join, I know this group has been going a little while Smile
I've done frozen embryo transfer in mid February and am currently 9 weeks pregnant by ivf calculation.
I've had some bleeding a few weeks ago and found some hematomas on private scan. I'm not sure if it's a worry but I've been having some pain the last day or two which is causing discomfort when I walk.

@Bluehawaii29 I'm so happy for you! What a relief. Yes take it as easy as you can.

I hope everyone is having a lovely Mother's Day ThanksDaffodil

Bluehawaii29 · 27/03/2022 12:28

@JMC91 hey thank you and congrats on your pregnancy xx I think pain in back is fine. I been having some back ache today as well. They said the haematoma is basically like a bruise. Shouldn’t cause any issues and hopefully at your next scan would have resolved. Do you know when your ivf clinic is scanning you? My next one is at 8wk+3 with my clinic on 13th April and I have a free 2wk rescan with the clinic i went to today as part of the package so that will be on 10th April but is abdominal again as didn’t want to overdo the internal scans in case x
@Millymillymillymillymilly thank you! Yes it was a big relief. Last couple of days have been agony. Just relieved that scan was good and no blood since. I wish you lots of luck for your scan at 7 weeks xx
