BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

1000 replies

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@xreadytoglow yea really impressive! We got our meds on the kitchen counter for all to see 🤣 luckily no one comes round for a long time but can’t imagine living under the same roof and no one knowing x

Overlyanxious · 28/03/2022 15:14

@xreadytoglow wow I can't believe you hid it so well. It really must be a relief to have shared the news now.

JMC91 · 28/03/2022 18:49

@Ivfmum2022 so sorry to hear that. there will be a light for you xxx take care of yourself.

JMC91 · 28/03/2022 19:12

@Overlyanxious thank you.
GP referred me to early pregnancy unit for a scan tomorrow so I won't know much until then. He also took some swabs and checked my stomach.

JMC91 · 28/03/2022 19:13

Can I ask what medication you guys are on?
I'm on 4 pessaries progesterone a day and injections every other day. Plus oestrogen tablets 4 a day.

Overlyanxious · 28/03/2022 19:21

@JMC91 good luck for your scan tomorrow x I take 3 progesterone pessaries a day and 4 oestrogen tablets.

xreadytoglow · 28/03/2022 19:55

I know spotting can be normal but I just had pink on some toilet tissue I'd left in my knickers (TMI) after I'd let the pessary do its thing. Lay for an hour, then put some tissue there, went to pick up my wife and there's pink on the tissue. Nothing when I went for a wee and wiped. But now I'm panicking 😢

JMC91 · 28/03/2022 20:02

@xreadytoglow it could be a number of things, try not to worry too much.
Have you had any spotting during this pregnancy earlier on ?

xreadytoglow · 28/03/2022 20:03

No I've had nothing @JMC91. Trying not to worry

Bluehawaii29 · 28/03/2022 21:07

@xreadytoglow hi I had a similar panick on Saturday but apparently the spotting can happen when it’s brownish/ pinkish. A lot of people actually get it. It could be a small haematoma that’s trying to leave your body or from cervical irritation. As long as it’s not heavy it’s nothing to worry about. I’m still getting a bit of brownish tinge on tissue paper on and off when I wipe from that reddish spotting I had on the Saturday after that subchorionic haematoma. It’s not been red since sat and have read that it takes a few days to fully go back to clear discharge again. Lots of people I’ve spoken to all reassured me saying they had brownish discharge too in their pregnancies and were fine. Try not to worry x

Bryterlayter1 · 28/03/2022 21:11

@xreadytoglow really, really common to have some spotting. I know it's hard not worry, but this all sounds normal.

xreadytoglow · 28/03/2022 21:13

Thank you both @Bluehawaii29 @Bryterlayter1 it is reassuring to hear but you know what it's like, things like this happen and your common sense goes out the window. I'm too scared to wipe now but it was definitely pink and not brown.

I'm going to the EPU in the hospital I work at tomorrow morning hoping they will scan me.

Bluehawaii29 · 28/03/2022 21:15

@xreadytoglow that’s a good idea. I had the same thoughts on the Saturday when I was freaked out to go to the toilet or even let out wind for fear of what I’d see when I wiped but next day it was as good as gold so I’m sure yours is a one off too xx

Katiekat84 · 28/03/2022 21:17

@JMC91 I'm on 4 progesterone pessarys a day plus 3 oestrogen tablets. Can't wait to stop with the meds at 12 weeks.

@xreadytoglow i know its so hard not to worry but many women (including me on my last pregnancy) spot throughout a healthy pregnancy. In my case they figured it was the pessarys causing it but couldn't be sure. I'm expecting it to happen again this time.

xreadytoglow · 28/03/2022 21:22

Thanks guys you're all so kind 🤍

I just went to the toilet and couldn't see anything this time. 🤞🏼

Bluehawaii29 · 28/03/2022 21:28

@xreadytoglow that’s good it’s cleared :)
I just vomited my dinner 🤢 full blown vomiting for the first time and all day my nausea has been crazy, even gagged out on a walk. I think the beginnings of hyperemesis gravidarum may be kicking in …

Bluehawaii29 · 28/03/2022 21:28

6wk +1 today and it’s already happening, help!

Bluehawaii29 · 28/03/2022 21:29

@JMC91 I’m on 2 pessaries, one progesterone injection and 4 oestrogen tabs a day x

Konnie1991 · 28/03/2022 22:04

@Justawannabemam Thansk for inviting me to this one! I was thinking the same about the other as you! Hownit everything going for you now?

I was given new pessaries as there is aparently a global shortage on the cyclogest ones. Don't really loke the new ones at all. So inconvenient to use and the its a bit icky after too.
Tomorrow I'll be 6.5 weeks and having my first scan! Exciting.

Sorry I'm a bit lost with everyone else! There's a lot to catch up on this thread. But I hope everyone's doing well!

2mumlife · 28/03/2022 22:23

@xreadytoglow Oh my goodness you went to a lot of effort keeping the cycle quiet! Bleeding is very normal, so try not to worry. We're not bothering about finding out the sex, as it won't make any difference to any of our prep plans.

Overlyanxious · 29/03/2022 06:00

@xreadytoglow glad to hear that you didn't get anymore pink. Good luck with the scan though - I'm sure all will be fine x

Overlyanxious · 29/03/2022 06:06

@Bluehawaii29 oh no - being sick doesn't sound fun.

@Konnie1991 Hello. Good luck with your scan

Bluehawaii29 · 29/03/2022 07:44

@Overlyanxious thanks yeah it’s horrible, sickness worse in morning and evening but all day pretty much. I’ve got a scan which EPU offered me tomorrow as part of follow up from sat. They looked at my private scan report and wanted to the internal one this time as it was abdominal on Sunday so they said they can measure things better etc and check heart beat better. I’m glad to have it but it’s always scary each time before a scan, just can’t help it x

Bluehawaii29 · 29/03/2022 08:10

@Konnie1991 @xreadytoglow good luck with your scans today xx

Bluehawaii29 · 29/03/2022 08:12

Has anyone experienced pain under the arm pit, mine feels bruised under my left armpit and my breast are really painful today. I’ve heard it could be milk production happening which can cause pain/ dull aches extending in to armpits as well
