BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

1000 replies

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@Bluehawaii29 I'm not too bad. Just had some pizza which was very satisfying. I was exhausted earlier but had a nap which has helped. I had my walk earlier which was nice but I did feel so tired. Glad you are feeling better. That's a shame about having to continue with the pessaries. x

Bluehawaii29 · 25/03/2022 21:02

@Overlyanxious that’s good you enjoyed your walk and pizza is so nice I can imagine. It’s the cheese that I love the most now. We are having Pizza Hut for my bday on Tues but I’ve had to cancel my bday dinner with family next Sunday as I won’t be able to stay awake and just know it’s not a good idea to go against my body when it needs to rest

Overlyanxious · 25/03/2022 21:16

@Bluehawaii29 yesss - I'm obsessed with cheese at the moment - even more then usual. Pizza Hut will be nice and yes I think you need to go with what your body needs.

Bluehawaii29 · 25/03/2022 21:22

@Overlyanxious thanks yes I feel bit bad because mother in law was excitedly organising it and hoping we would tell bro in law and his wife there but really don’t feel up to seeing anyone at the no and I guess they’ll just have to wait to hear the news now x

Bluehawaii29 · 26/03/2022 08:44

Hi there’s been a bit more brownish discharge after I opened my bowels this morning. Still not getting cramps but really freaked out now. Have booked private scan for today. Heading to east London

Bryterlayter1 · 26/03/2022 08:51

@Bluehawaii29 a private scan sounds like a good idea, it will help put your mind at rest.

ShareLove · 26/03/2022 10:18

@Bluehawaii29 good luck for your scan today I hope all is well !! Xxx
Can I ask , does anyone know if you can have bleeding while on progesterone ? I though that even if you started to bleed, progesterone won’t let it happen ? Or am I wrong xx ?

Bluehawaii29 · 26/03/2022 10:33

I’m in a&e now, just want to be checked properly. Am so scared..

Bryterlayter1 · 26/03/2022 10:49

@Bluehawaii29 I hope you get some answers soon.x

@sharelove in my experience (last round) I did get brown spotting on the progesterone.

Overlyanxious · 26/03/2022 11:38

Good luck @Bluehawaii29 I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you x

Bluehawaii29 · 26/03/2022 15:13

@Bryterlayter1 @Overlyanxious hey still didn’t manage to get scan today as they don’t do them at weekend at my local A&E. was referred to early pregnancy unit who apparently can call on Monday to arrange early scan for me. In meantime has been thought related to cervical irritation most likely from the pessaries. It doesn’t come on my pad but it’s like a brownish, sometimes with pink tinge spotting when I when with tissue after passing urine. has anyone else experienced this? @2mumlife what was yours like when you had the sun chorionic bleed?

Bluehawaii29 · 26/03/2022 15:15

If I have to continue these pessaries and I keep seeing the spotting everyday it’s going to make my anxiety a lot worse. The guy who checked my pregnancy test today said there was no doubt that I’m pregnant and didn’t think my symptoms were suggestive of ectopic. Didn’t have low bp or high pulse which he said often happens in ectopic so feel more reassured about that now at least

Bryterlayter1 · 26/03/2022 15:44

@Bluehawaii29 sorry they couldn't scan today hopefully EPU can scan on Monday. Positive news about BP though. Hopefully it is just the pessaries. Could you insert via the back passage to help reduce risk of irritating the cervix?

Bluehawaii29 · 26/03/2022 16:11

I’m starting to think I might have subchorionic haematoma because when I wipe with tissue paper after passing urine it’s like a light pink/reddish coming now and still don’t get pain or cramping so don’t understand where it’s coming from

Overlyanxious · 26/03/2022 17:18

@Bluehawaii29 I'm sorry to hear you haven't got a definitive answer today. I would say use the pessary in the back passage for the moment

Bluehawaii29 · 26/03/2022 18:38

@Overlyanxious they don’t seem to care about early pregnancy. Just ask people to watch and see what happens. it’s calmed down a bit now but the whole time has been completely cramp free and painless so I don’t understand. Still having symptoms as well

Millymillymillymillymilly · 26/03/2022 18:45

@xreadytoglow congrats! That’s great news! I have mine next week! Hope it’s good too.

@2mumlife I totally get where you’re coming from. I’ve been dying to tell too but just scared to just in case… only 2 of my closest friends now but also because they knew we were doing ivf.

@Bluehawaii29 sorry to hear you’re not feeling too well. Hopefully you get some answers soon. I always do my pessaries in the back (cyclogest) I found the front way messier!

xreadytoglow · 26/03/2022 19:04

@Millymillymillymillymilly thank you 😊 congrats on your BFP. I hope the time passes quickly for you for your scan!

@Bluehawaii29 I'm sorry you're going through this worry. I'm sure everything is fine and just a bit of cervix irritation like you said. Everything crossed for your scan x

Overlyanxious · 26/03/2022 19:13

@Bluehawaii29 hopefully they think it's all ok which is why they are being so calm. From reading other posts it does seem like early pregnancy is a lot of wait and see in hospitals. It's so rubbish x

Bluehawaii29 · 26/03/2022 19:16

I have to wear a pad but no further bleeding has happened so far. Surely it would be heavier and cramping if this was a miscarriage?

Overlyanxious · 26/03/2022 19:17

@Millymillymillymillymilly @2mumlife I've been avoiding telling anyone but I went to my sister's today and her and her husband decided to do all this heavy lifting in the garden with the expectation I would help (which I normally would). They've been really great and supportive about my anxiety. I'm not really sure why I was keeping it from them as I'm really close to my sister.

Overlyanxious · 26/03/2022 19:21

@Bluehawaii29 when I had a miscarriage I had a bad cramp and started bleeding properly very quickly. If Monday is too far away is there another hospital you can go to where the epu is open tomorrow?

Bluehawaii29 · 26/03/2022 19:39

Not really. It’s stopped pretty much now so I’m hoping the hush of blood was subchorionic haematoma and hopefully will resolve but I can’t make this scan come sooner still. They really don’t care what mental torture people are going through. Feeling suicidal tbh

Bryterlayter1 · 26/03/2022 19:48

@Bluehawaii29 do you have friends or family around that you can talk to? This is a lot to carry on your own. If it is any comfort the nurses at my clinic said it was not usual for there to be some bleeding in the early stages, and that this did not mean there would be a problem.

Overlyanxious · 26/03/2022 19:56

@Bluehawaii29 a good sign that the bleeding has stopped. I am worried about how you're feeling though. Is your husband around or friends/family to help you through this? Is it worth calling 111 to tell them how you're feeling and what's happened? They may be able to get you through to some support.
