BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@Katiekat84 I'm nearly 10 weeks. Tired and nauseous. I keep thinking the nausea is going then it comes back. I hope you're not feeling too bad.
@xreadytoglow good luck for tomorrow morning!

xreadytoglow · 23/03/2022 19:18

@Justawannabemam hahahah very tactful present 😂 I don't blame you! Thanks for the well wishes.

@womaninkent thank you! Sorry to hear you're feeling sick. Can't be fun at all. Hopefully it passes soon for you. 10 weeks!! Double digits. 😬

Hi everyone ❤. I feel like I'm being annoying asking the same thing all the time, but I have no one else that I could ask. I had a trigger shot on the day of my FET (15/03). Is this standard procedure for everyone to have the trigger shot after the FET? I am 8dp5dt today. I have taken both the blue and pink dye. They both have very strong solid lines. I'm now worried that it could just be the trigger. It's also worrying me that the lines appear almost immediately. Would anyone be able to shed some insight into this? Thank you.

Justawannabemam · 24/03/2022 03:17

@Whatsmyname100 I haven't had a FET, but from what I've read on here when others have frozen transfers you'd wouldn't have a trigger. Have you had eggs collected? As that would explain why you've had one.

But as far as you question goes about ut still being in your system it can take upto 14 days.

When I had mine I tested it out if my system so I knew when it had gone. You could do that to put your mind at rest. X

Hope someone else can give you definite answer

@Whatsmyname100 they sometimes give trigger shot in FETs to make the body think it’s releasing an egg so that it starts preparing lining and produces the progesterone and oestrogen making it more receptive to embryo for the transfer

Bluehawaii29 · 24/03/2022 05:38

My nausea is so bad this morning, can’t get comfortable in bed, feels like a band around my chest squeezing me 🤢🤢 and a horrible burning feeling in my chest. Really want to burp but hardly anything coming out. And suggestions?

Bryterlayter1 · 24/03/2022 06:36

@bluehawaii29 not sure if this would work but what about drinking some sparkling water? Might help you burp.

ShareLove · 24/03/2022 06:37

@Whatsmyname100 hey , sorry , not much help from us Sad I also had a FET and I never had a trigger , to be honest I didn’t know it’s possible for FET to have trigger Smile
Could you maybe post a picture ? Did you test from day 1 to see it fade and to then come back strong line ??it’s difficult to know now if you didn’t do that …

Bluehawaii29 · 24/03/2022 06:44

@Bryterlayter1 thank you x I had a couple of almonds and water and managed to go back to sleep. I think going to start keeping food on the bedside table for when I wake up because my nausea gets worse if I don’t eat x

Whatsmyname100 · 24/03/2022 07:03

Thank you all for replying. I am now confused as well. I had a trigger before egg collection, and a trigger on my FET day as well. It was Gonasi 5000. I have my OTD tomorrow. I only realised when I started testing 2 days ago that I should have tested earlier to see if it was negative first. I am now thinking that it could be the trigger shot and I could just cry.

Bryterlayter1 · 24/03/2022 07:12

@whatsmyname100. Highly unlikely that it’s trigger at 8dp5dt, I’d be very optimistic if I were you😊.

Bryterlayter1 · 24/03/2022 07:18

Oops sorry @whatsmyname100 just re-read and saw you had the trigger on the FET day not before. But still with strong lines, there is good reason to stay optimistic. I doubt lines would suddenly disappear tomorrow on otd and the clinic must have set the otd for when the trigger would be out of your system.

Justawannabemam · 24/03/2022 07:28

@Whatsmyname100 I had double the dose you have . And by day 8 the line was very faint . Think positive. I have the pictures if u want to see .

Thank you. I have been trying to research why I was given a trigger after the FET as I'm only recently finding out that it's not very common. This is my first IVF. I had a very traumatic TFMR at 24 weeks, a loss at 11 weeks and a chemical. So I'm just feeling all sorts now.

Whatsmyname100 · 24/03/2022 07:35

Please post the pics if you can. Sorry I can't seem to tag on my phone. I'm on the app. I am 9dpt5dt today and did another test this am. Solid lines. I will try post from my pc after I do school drop off.

2mumlife · 24/03/2022 07:50

@Bluehawaii29 Not sure I have any good advice but I'll try! I found I could eat a simple carb for about a week at a go before I couldn't stand it. I started off with Narins cheese oatcakes - eaten at regular intervals they helped for awhile. Toast. Pasta. Rice cakes. Fizzy things gave me indigestion. Plain hot water helped for a bit. I went through a week where I only wanted ceasar salad and hash browns. I got into just buying anything I had remotely thought I might fancy eating whatever it was. The nausea does pass. Also, sometimes the nausea was more heartburn, so I suggest also trying gaviscon or similar (I got a superdrug version of chewy tablets which helped)

@Millymillymillymillymilly The wait before scans never gets better - sorry! I'm still so cautious I'm 16 weeks and still haven't told my parents - but like @xreadytoglow if everything looks ok at my scan this morning (for a short cervix check) we'll let them know at the weekend.

@womaninkent Hello! I think I remember you from my very first cycle last year! How lovely to see you on this board expecting!

@Whatsmyname100 I had a small dose Ovitrelle hcg "trigger" after IUI but not during my FET cycles. I'd really caution against testing before your OTD regardless (I've had a previous chemical too, and now sear by not testing early, and never using FRER again!)

ShareLove · 24/03/2022 07:52

@Whatsmyname100 , you know I think you’re 100% pregnant!! The clinic would not give you a date to test when they know trigger could still be in your system , defanetly not ! You’re pregnant ! Starand trigger wouldn’t be so strong at 9dpt xx

Millymillymillymillymilly · 24/03/2022 08:13

@xreadytoglow good luck! Hope all goes well. May it be an amazing mother’s day present❤️

@2mumlife I’m trying to take it a day a time, but it’s sooooo hard. It’s just one hurdle after another! I’m planning to tell my in-laws as soon as we get the scan and everything is good! My sis in law is due her second child in July and I really can’t wait to tell them they are having their third too :)

@Bluehawaii29 That’s great! Hope all goes well at scan and we both see what we need to.

Bluehawaii29 · 24/03/2022 08:20

@Millymillymillymillymilly heyy I went back and cancelled it after I saw they don’t recommend successive scans within 2 weeks. Have resigned to waiting for the one on 13th April again now 😫

Bluehawaii29 · 24/03/2022 08:40

@2mumlife thanks I’ll have to try these tips, just can’t shake off this feeling. It’s horrible

Bluehawaii29 · 24/03/2022 08:48

I heard acne is common in pregnancy, have people noticed any changes in their skin already or does this start happening later on? Did you have any issues so far? @2mumlife

Bryterlayter1 · 24/03/2022 09:49

@xreadytoglow to all goes well today. Looking forward to hearing about how things went.

ShareLove · 24/03/2022 11:03

Does anybody have any advice on how to keep anxiety away? I am convinced That when I go for my scan it’s bad news ! I just feel it in my gut !
And also and tips on how to make time go faster Grin?
