BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

1000 replies

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@Bluehawaii29 is your sick bug any better ? X

Bluehawaii29 · 05/06/2022 19:06

@JMC91 heyy thanks for asking, yes feeling a lot better thanks. Managing to just go once a day today and yesterday but still loose/ watery when I do go so hoping that will improve now I’m introducing more solid food back in to my diet and also started a probiotic today. Been feeling baby kicks especially when I play it certain songs :) got my midwife appt this weds and will ask about some leaking breasts I’ve had as well since yesterday. Has happened twice but have heard this can happen at this many weeks and a few people on this pregnancy app I’m with have said it happened to them too. Will need to think about getting breast pads if it continues! How are you? X
@xreadytoglow any news about the gender? X

Bluehawaii29 · 05/06/2022 19:09

@Gigi89x heyy! Omg that’s fantastic news! I knew you would do it this time! Did you use the embryo glue in the end? X I’m good thanks. 16 wk+2 now and 2nd Midwife appt this week x

Gigi89x · 05/06/2022 19:52

@JMC91 @Bluehawaii29 thank you both!

I used embryo glue both times! Oh my 16 weeks thats flown by!!!

What do i do now ladies, do i book my GP and tell them to refer me to the midwife?

Bluehawaii29 · 05/06/2022 20:19

@Gigi89x oh that’s great, yeah that glue is a great thing! Did you manage to do your sisters bday trip too? How’s the annoying pessaries going, I don’t miss them!
midwife you can self refer but it’s usually from after 5 weeks that they accept referrals x

Gigi89x · 05/06/2022 20:57

@Bluehawaii29 My sisters trip is in 2 weeks! I cant wait now!

The utrogestan pessaries are so annoying ! Im going to aim to get Cyclogest for the rest of the pregnancy, so i can do rectal and twice a day whereas now its 3 times a day with laying down etc vaginally!

If i self refer now would they do anything or Am i better off waiting till 5 weeks? I went online & my calculated date of pregnancy is 4 weeks & 1 day already! Is my first scan 7 weeks? X

Bluehawaii29 · 05/06/2022 21:06

@Gigi89x aww that’s really great you got everything sorted in time before the trip and can fully enjoy it now :) yeah I can imagine how annoying 3 times a day is. I had to do the cyclogest vaginally always due to pile’s issue and it really interferes in your plans but hopefully you can get hold of it if rectal is good for you x
yes you can still self refer and get it out the way and then they’ll just call you when they need. Usually the booking visit is after 8 weeks. The ivf clinic I was with didn’t do scans before 8 weeks so I ended up doing early scans but hopefully the holiday will distract you and kill some time until your first scan x

xreadytoglow · 05/06/2022 23:08

@Gigi89x congratulations!!! That's wonderful news 🤍🤍

@Bluehawaii29 @bajanbump - you're right... I'm having a boy!! 💙 such an incredible day but wow I'm exhausted now.

bajanbump · 05/06/2022 23:39

@xreadytoglow omg congratulations!!!
So so happy for you!!!

As I saw you guys added your bump pics let me add mine too! 12+3 days today with my little ones!

Bluehawaii29 · 06/06/2022 07:37

@xreadytoglow yayy that’s great news on finding out gender, glad our theory worked! Has made me even more convinced now ours is a boy.
only Went once with loose stool in the morning yesterday and nothing all day and tried going just now but nothing. Hoping this is the end of it now. So glad I can finally ring the midwife today as I was stuck all bank holiday with no one to call.
@bajanbump nice bump! Looks like yours is going to be low lying bump. I’ve heard boys can do that too. This is the best one I got of mine all weekend as I felt like I was losing weight from the diarrhoea and kept getting paranoid bump was getting smaller

Overlyanxious · 06/06/2022 07:51

@Gigi89x I remember you - congratulations and welcome. It’s nice you’ve got a trip to look forward to as well.

@Bluehawaii29 glad to hear you are on the mend.

@xreadytoglow congratulations. Glad you had a good day.

@bajanbump you’ve got a good bump there.

JMC91 · 06/06/2022 08:36

Loving the bump pictures 🥰

we are off to Majorca this morning , hoping the airport situation at Gatwick isn’t as crazy as half term !

Gigi89x · 06/06/2022 14:00

Loving all the bump pictures too! Its so lovely to see so many ivf cycles that have been a success!

@Overlyanxious thank you very much!

Gigi89x · 06/06/2022 20:23

Thank you @xreadytoglow !

When did you guys start feeling pregnant? On week 4 I'm not feeling a lot yet!

Bluehawaii29 · 06/06/2022 21:44

@Gigi89x lol good question. I was pregnancy tests every day for weeks. Only started to become real when I saw the scans and then when bump appeared a bit but still hard to judge because bump doesn’t seem to grow that fast even up to 16 weeks. I think the best bit is when you feel the kicks properly and bump is really obvious

Bluehawaii29 · 07/06/2022 07:59

@JMC91 hope you are having a great time in Majorca! I love that place. Was the last trip abroad we did last sept x

Bluehawaii29 · 09/06/2022 07:52

Hey guys hope you are good. I think I’ve recovered now from the tummy bug. Just bloating can still happen and still monitoring the morning urgency but feeling a lot better :) yesterday was the 16 week midwife appt which went well, I had a bit of anxiety about the Doppler and heartbeat as usual so the beginning part of getting BP checked showed it was slightly on high side but luckily I do checks at home and midwife accepted my home reading which was significantly lower. Urine was clear and then she got the heartbeat straight away with the Doppler which was a relief and she could feel baby moving too. This was the first time I met my actual midwife that will be with me through the pregnancy so was really pleased how nice she was and feel more supported now. How is everyone doing? X

Justawannabemam · 09/06/2022 08:52

Hey @Bluehawaii29 sounds like things are going great .

I'm going pram shopping today with my sister. Just for a look about some are so expensive. I am just going mid range as loads of people said they aren't in them very long.

I have my 20 week app next Tuesday. Still choosing not to find out so I hope I don't see anything. I'm getting a little bump too now no longer in my works uniform and they bought me some decent stuff from new look. I actually bought some trousers off asos that were 13 quid . And they are so comfortable not maternity but I just sized up they are a recycled tapered work trouser I think they were called.

Hope everyone else is doing okay x

@Justawannabemam exciting! Glad your 20 week scan is close and pram shopping does sound fun but we had a look too at mamas and papas and the decisions are not easy to make, so many pros and cons of the different prams but I hope you find a good one for you x

Millymillymillymillymilly · 09/06/2022 09:36

Hi ladies, hope everyone has been well. Sorry I’ve been so quiet for so long! Work drove me insane for a while and had to let go of someone who then accused the company of discrimating and blah blah blah. It’s been tough!

Sorry to hear that some of you haven’t been feeling well! I hope you all get better soon! I had the worst trimester, vomiting each time I eat and feeling nauseous all the time, just when I thought I was getting better, I caught a cold which has now dragged on to week two, nothing serious but a lot of coughing and a runny nose.

When do we get a break eh?

Currently on holiday in Mauritius but the cold has definitely made it less enjoyable! And my food aversion is still very similar to the 1st trimester, not liking meat or seafood much anymore. All I want is veg and fruit… so been trying to supplement with glasses of milk and yoghurt… do you think protein shake is ok? I read somewhere that pregnant ladies should avoid it.

Eveyone’s bump looks so obvious! Mine is still pretty small and cannot feel any kicks yet! I can’t wait till that happens! I’ve got my 20 week scan in July and have another private one at 24 weeks. I just can’t get enough of the scans because I feel like I just don’t know what’s going on in my tummy🙈

Hope everything goes well for us all and hope the bank holiday last week has provided some nice and relaxing time. xx

Overlyanxious · 09/06/2022 10:36

@Bluehawaii29 good to hear the bug is gone and that you had a good midwife experience. So nice she could feel the baby move.

@Justawannabemam that’s exciting your 20 week appointment is next week. I hope you find a pram you like - there are so many options.

@Millymillymillymillymilly good to hear from you. Sorry you’ve been having such a rough time with food etc. hopefully it will ease up soon. I also hope your cold goes away soon.

I’m not feeling as anxious as I was. I’m on the 2 week countdown to the 20 week scan. However I’m going on holiday to Spain today (hopefully no issues with flights) so looking forward to that.

@2mumlife How are you getting on? Must be getting close to the third trimester.

xreadytoglow · 09/06/2022 20:26

@Bluehawaii29 glad to hear that you're feeling better and your appointment went well! So amazing that you got to hear the heartbeat. That's the best part 💕! We went to M&P also and tried out prams.. in the end we went with the Ocarro in the Everest colour. We got a bundle that comes with the Joie i-Level Signature carseat plus all the attachments etc. We didn't expect to buy such an expensive one but we fell in love with it 🙈

@Justawannabemam nice to hear things are progressing well for you! How exciting that you're keeping sex a surprise. I admire your willpower! I couldn't do it 😂

Hey @Millymillymillymillymilly 👋🏼 aw I hope your cold disappears and it gets warmer in Mauritius! Everyone I know seems to be on holiday at the minute.. I'm so jealous! Sucks that you can't eat normally yet.. there's still protein in veg but if you can tolerate, try including some diff beans/lentils into your diet? They're a great protein source. I'm sure your bump will come soon!

@Overlyanxious glad to hear you're feeling less anxious. I hope you have an amazing time in Spain! Another one going away.. so jel!! Enjoy your time together with your partner 🤍

Not a lot going on here.. I had repeat bloods today to check baby's blood group because my last ones were rejected. So I still don't know! Still have low platelets, have done since the booking in appt so I'm continuing to have it repeated every 4 weeks but they've also booked me in to see a Consultant. They're above 100 though so that's good.
I felt him kick from the outside last night.. 🥺 I drank a whole load of orange cordial and felt some stirring (I've still not been convinced that I've felt actual baby movements) but I put my hand where I could feel it and all of a sudden felt a big thump into my palm! So insane! All of the movements I've felt up until now I've changed my mind in an hour that it's 'probably not' because of my anterior placenta, but I can't think of a normal bodily function that punches me from the inside so I need to start believing it more! 😊
Obviously when I tried the same thing with my wife's hand, he didn't do it again!

Bluehawaii29 · 09/06/2022 20:50

@xreadytoglow aww that’s amazing, are you 18 weeks now? I read that they can feel touch and can kick in to your palm around then. They also sense your touch more then stir to music at that stage but from 22-23 weeks they start hearing outside noises so probably will kick more to music then. The thing that always works for me is eating apple, moves so much when I’m having apple which has been such a nice feeling and can’t wait to actually feel something on outside too x

everyone going abroad have a great rest and enjoy the sun x

Millymillymillymillymilly · 10/06/2022 04:52

@Overlyanxious Thanks! I hope you have a great time in Spain! Nice chance to relax and enjoy the sunny weather!

@xreadytoglow I’m ready to go home after being 2 weeks off. I want to see my cat🤣 Oh wow! You can feel the baby already? That’s amazing. How many weeks are you if you don’t mind me asking!

xreadytoglow · 10/06/2022 20:17

@Bluehawaii29 19 weeks tomorrow 🥰! That's good that you're feeling movements. I'm not really feeling all that much that's convincing so the big thump was a pleasant surprise!!
