BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@Justawannabemam don't worry about coming across as negative. We are all here to support each other - and the time we need each other most is when we are anxious.

I would say we all have the same anxieties and you have extra babies to think about. Try not to think about what you would do if there were any problems. I think unless you are in that situation you don't know what you would do.

I was in a bad place recently but it felt too much so I've tried some positive mantras which has helped a bit.

Please keep sharing any worries and we will help you through it x

Bryterlayter1 · 06/04/2022 07:27

@Justawannabemam it's completely understandable that you would be worried. There is a lot going on for you and there will be throughout your pregnancy. This is definitely a place to share those worries we are here for you.

2mumlife · 06/04/2022 11:04

@Justawannabemam Its strange they aren't doing the screening test at the same time as the dating scan - is that just because of the multiples? The only 2 measurements they take at the dating scan is the crown-to-rump length (to date the pregnancy - the NHS will date it their way, and ignore your IVF transfer dates etc. Don't bother trying to reason with them!) and the nuchal translucency if you're going ahead with the combined screening test. It certaintly didn't take 30mins when we went in, and that was with a stubborn fetus who refused to change position. It'll obviously take longer with multiples as they'll need to try to get a good view of each of them for the measurements, but I certainly wouldn't expect them to take that long! Id be prepared that if they don't get a good view of one of the fetuses they'll ask you to come back in.

Remember that its YOUR choice if you want screening tests or not - you do not have to do the combined screening test if you do not want to.

Please do think about joining support groups specifically for multiples as well, as I'm sure it'd help to share with those in a similar situation.

Hi Guys hope you are all well. Another twist in our journey today after we had the 7.5 week scan and it showed both twins are alive ❤️❤️🌈🌈 twin 1 is measuring really good at 11mm and heart beat strong at 155bpm and twin 2 is also doing ok and 1week behind. We are so thankful and relieved 🙏🏽🙏🏽 Was such a tense week xx

Justawannabemam · 06/04/2022 11:57

@2mumlife I think because there are three they said it could take longer. We are having the NT test done as standard for me being over 35 and multiples. I'm just going off what they say. They have said it's personal choice for any diagnostic tests but they have already recommended having it done. And now that thought is in my mind so we will.

I will look out for any other groups thank you .x

@Bluehawaii29 oh wow that's amazing x I bet your delighted. X

@Justawannabemam thank you! Yes it’s a huge relief and definitely feels very real now. Promised myself I have to let go of my negativity now. The last week was another tense one waiting but feel so happy today and going to hold on to this feeling Smile hope you are feeling better about the diagnostic testing, have you definitely decided what your doing now x

Bluehawaii29 · 06/04/2022 12:22

@ShareLove yeah I don’t see any harm in having it every week till 12 weeks if that helps you. I am happy with my scan today at 7 wk 3 and am still gonna go for my abdo scan which was with private clinic this Sunday to take my mother in law this time as she can never come with us to the nhs ones. Just thought it will be a nice thing for her to see. Then I have my 9 week scan on 19th April as planned with fertility clinic. After that there’ll be a 3 week gap until my normal antenatal scan but I guess We’ll just have to distract ourselves with other things x

Bluehawaii29 · 06/04/2022 12:24

@ShareLove how much are you paying for your private scans? We managed to get 2 scans booked two weeks apart total price of £45 which I thought was really good but not sure if they get more expensive the further along you are

ShareLove · 06/04/2022 12:37

@Bluehawaii29 wow well done you ! Can’t belive the other twin is still going , congrats Smile🥳
And one scan for me is £70
My private scan place don’t do deals like yours xx
Wow can’t belive only 45£ that’s is soo cheap 😱 xx

ShareLove · 06/04/2022 12:38

@Bluehawaii29 did you get any pics of you scan today 🥰😍?

Bluehawaii29 · 06/04/2022 12:46

@ShareLove heyy yeah we got some more pics :) twin 1 looking more like a baby now ❤️ Twin 2 still got a little way to go but just glad he/she is alive and growing at it’s own steady pace xx

They said I gotta take baby aspirin daily now that it’s twin pregnancy and my first one

Overlyanxious · 06/04/2022 13:02

@Bluehawaii29 that's amazing news Smile

womaninkent · 06/04/2022 13:04

Absolutely amazing news @Bluehawaii29. What a rollercoaster!
@Justawannabemam it's so tough. I hope you're feeling a bit better. This forum is absolutely for venting on!

ShareLove · 06/04/2022 14:23

@Bluehawaii29 wow soo cute little gunmy bears Smile❤️ I’m wondering if one of your blasts implanted a week after the first one ? That could be why one is behind xx it’s very possible for this to happen isn’t it xx

Bluehawaii29 · 06/04/2022 15:27

Thank you ❤️☺️ @womaninkent @Overlyanxious
@ShareLove yes even though they were 4BBs when frozen, one of them was expanding post thaw and she said the other one turned in to a 3BB so I think that was the slower one x

2mumlife · 06/04/2022 18:12

@Justawannabemam Hopefully they'll be able to get good sights on each of them on the day :)

@Bluehawaii29 Wasn't expecting that at all! Do they think the prognosis for twin B is good then if its continuing to develop even though its small? £45 for 2 scans is really good!

I've been procrastinating crotchetting a baby hat during my work meetings today Grin

Bluehawaii29 · 06/04/2022 21:04

@2mumlife thanks x yeah she said this can happen where there is a week or 2 difference some times but the twin 2 she said was looking good for it’s stage of development, I.e 6 weeks gestation, normal CRL and heart rate and yolk sac looked normal too so she was hopeful that it will grow alongside twin 1 albeit smaller Smile

2mumlife · 07/04/2022 09:18

@Bluehawaii29 That's amazing news! I didn't realise embryos could implant at such drastically different points. Figures crossed all continues to go well.

Just hanging out at hospital here after cervix scan. All still looking good, fetus is keeping up it's stubbornness so was curled up facing my spine today, but got a nice look at it's spine and a very long foot! Now the boring bit to wait for another 40mins for consultant

Bluehawaii29 · 07/04/2022 10:28

@2mumlife haha yeah it’s all new to me too x
Aww that’s great your scan was good and you got to see some details of the foot. Hope you don’t have to wait too long, I hate hospital appt waiting too. Hope you got some snacks x

2mumlife · 07/04/2022 11:38

@Bluehawaii29 They were actually really quick today which was good - helps that I'm 'boring' today with nothing to really do/say so was in and out with consultant. Roll on the 20 week scan!

Overlyanxious · 07/04/2022 11:49

@2mumlife glad all is looking good - and a long foot. How many weeks to your 20 week scan? I feel like time is currently standing still.

xreadytoglow · 07/04/2022 12:58

@Bluehawaii29 awww congratulations!! What a rollercoaster. So so happy for you that both of your babies are doing well.

@2mumlife glad to hear your cervix check went well and you got to see bubs again. Sounds like they were comfy!!!

Counting down the days till my next scan on Tuesday.. although not gonna lie, that scanxiety is back with a vengeance. I think it's because our parents are coming too which makes it a thousand times scarier. Just gotta keep telling myself there's no reason that it wouldn't all be fine 🤞🏼
Also, all being well we should finally get the keys to our house next week too. It's all coming together 🤍

ShareLove · 07/04/2022 15:09

Hey girls!! Sorry I haven’t been on here much as Iv had a lot of anxiety over this week ,
I had a nightmare of a day today , so I’m 6+6 today I woke up to a massive bright red bleeding with red clots ! 😱 I freaked out ! My last bleed was dark but today was new bright red blood ! I panicked ofcourse ! I though that’s it it’s over , so I had my private scan booked for today from last week , and I went and explained what happened . I was happy to see the embryo still was there in the right place and had a heartbeat still !
Tomorrow I have another scan at my ivf clinic as I rang them today about this bleeding and they got me in for tomorrow . Omg , what a day ! Sad

ShareLove · 07/04/2022 15:18

It’s the subchorionic hematoma that is causing the bleeding .. I don’t understand I have been resting and ect and it still bled …
