BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

1000 replies

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@JMC91 wow that’s charming that they told you that. I would hope mine would continue supporting me. They’ve offered me a scan at 9 weeks to catch up with them etc so hopefully they will carry on answering my qs. I don’t think a midwife would know

JMC91 · 04/04/2022 16:58

@2mumlife that is a good way of looking at it :-)
I had a couple of burning questions and I hadn't met my midwife yet and the clinic were basically saying ask my midwife. But all sorted now :-)

Hope everyone's alright, dull days isn't it x

Bluehawaii29 · 04/04/2022 17:18

@JMC91 yeah it’s gonna be a full week, raining all week. Welcome to April! I went back to work today, working from home but still first time doing calls since a week now. Was good to get back in to things but am shattered now. How is everyone else coping with work? x

Bluehawaii29 · 04/04/2022 19:22

@xreadytoglow heyy how’s it going?. Random q but I remember you saying something about when you reached week 7 you had sudden change in your nipples, like they hurt just to touch or brush past it. Funnily enough same has happened to me since yesterday, crazy sore!

xreadytoglow · 04/04/2022 19:42

@Bluehawaii29 love how you remembered me and my nipples!! Haha. Yesss they were so sensitive. I couldn't wear a pj top over them. They're still a little now but not as much, but they have gone darker.

Hope everyone's doing okay. I don't have much to report .. no dramatic symptoms or anything! I do have crazy bloating though.. so I bought a fitted (but stretchy!) ribbed midi dress on Saturday and wore it for my wife's birthday meal yesterday. I looked 6 months pregnant in it 😂 but I let it all hang out instead of trying to suck it in and pretended it was actually a real baby bump haha. Those kinda dresses will be all I'll live in during summer tho I expect.

Bluehawaii29 · 04/04/2022 19:46

@xreadytoglow hahaha yeah I remember the most random things don’t ask me how 🤣🤣 I was just wondering when mine would kick in but it’s reassuring to finally have it. They are a lot darker too. I know what you mean about the bloating. Yesterday I was stroking my tummy pretending it was a bump as well haha summer dresses will be fun Smile

2mumlife · 04/04/2022 19:57

@JMC91 Still not met my midwife and wont do until 23 weeks. They're great over the phone though for things.

@Bluehawaii29 My breasts / nipples were very tender for awhile in first trimester. Now they are just swollen / full (highly recommend ditching the underwire bras and buying a flexifit bra from Molke - really helped with comfort levels). Areola definitely has grown/darken and my nipples are puffier. I have a semi-inverted nipple thats also making attempts to correct itself. Its actually fascinating seeing all the changes!

@xreadytoglow Its really interesting how different peoples bodies are. 18 weeks and whilst they are uncomfortable, I can still get into all my trousers. I've ditched them though and embraced leggings for now, and ordered some maternity dunagrees which I what I intend to live in once I've got more of a bump (I've definitely expanded, but a stranger wouldn't look at me and think I was pregnant yet)

xreadytoglow · 04/04/2022 20:12

@2mumlife that's good though that you're still in your normal clothes! I reckon once this bloat stage disappears it'll be a lot easier. I did tend to get quite bloated anyway before pregnancy but this is to a whole other level. I'm taking weekly bump pics first thing in the morning, just for myself, to see when it starts being a proper baby bump. The dungarees sound like a fab idea.

@Bluehawaii29 awww I do that too, stroking my 'bump'. A week tomorrow and I get to see little one again.. except this time it'll have proper arms and legs this time and be moving 🤍

Overlyanxious · 04/04/2022 22:20

@Bluehawaii29 and @JMC91 I think I may have missed my oestrogen this morning as well - but not sure. This cold I have is horrible and making me so unwell. Also my wife has a chest infection - so we are both constantly in bed or on the sofa feeling sorry for ourselves

Overlyanxious · 05/04/2022 08:32

@xreadytoglow I'm also really bloated. Luckily I have some loose dresses but I bought some larger size jogging bottoms for home as all my trousers are too tight

Bluehawaii29 · 05/04/2022 08:45

Gas pains been awful last couple of days. I read the baby starts moving in week 7 so not sure if that is causing me more irritation. Also constipated again today. Argh morning time is horrible

2mumlife · 05/04/2022 08:50

@Bluehawaii29 Its much more likely hormones. They completely bigger your digestive system. I vomitted my heartburn was so bad yesterday evening Sad

Overlyanxious · 05/04/2022 09:09

@Bluehawaii29 that doesn't sound fun. I find constipation gives me bad pains

Bluehawaii29 · 05/04/2022 09:25

@Overlyanxious yeah not fun at all. Scary when it happens in middle of the night too. Feel like I’m never gonna get comfortable. Thankfully just opened bowels so another day hopefully of some relief x

Bluehawaii29 · 05/04/2022 09:26

@2mumlife aww sorry to hear you’re struggling too, thought second trimester might be better. Hopefully won’t last long x

ShareLove · 05/04/2022 10:28

@Bluehawaii29 hey, I just realised that we are almost on same timeline with pregnancy ? Are you 7+2 ? I’m 6+4 today .
Can I ask if you had any more bleeding after your lasts bleed ?
I have had brown spotting but was told to expect it to come back so I won’t panic yet .
I have a private scan on Thursday and then ivf clinic scan on the 13 th :) xx

ShareLove · 05/04/2022 10:31

@Bluehawaii29 if all is well on both of my scans , I am planning to book private scan every single week till I am 12 weeks . I guess I won’t get another one until 12 weeks with nhs after my 7+5 scan with ivf clinic when I retire form there Grin
It will cost me an arm and a leg but I am overly anxious because of my history of losses and this hematoma SCH is freaking me out . I don’t think I can go 1 week Without having a scan to check .

2mumlife · 05/04/2022 12:43

@Bluehawaii29 Just seem to be particularly susceptible to heartburn way to early on (its not really meant to affect most people until after 27 weeks!). Rang GP surgery this morning and they're putting a prescription through to the pharmacy hopefully later today since OTC stuff aint helping :(

Bryterlayter1 · 05/04/2022 14:08

Had my scan today. Everything looks really good. Wonderful to see the heart beat. Starting to feel real now.

Overlyanxious · 05/04/2022 14:11

@2mumlife I hope your new medication helps. Heartburn does not sound nice - especially with the vomiting

xreadytoglow · 05/04/2022 14:36

@Bryterlayter1 that's great news 🤍

@2mumlife aw I hope your prescription helps. Doesn't sound nice at all.

@Overlyanxious sorry to hear you're both unwell! Nothing worse.. then you can't get looked after 😂 hope you feel better soon. Ditto with the trousers .. I can't fit into anything except leggings and joggers.

@ShareLove I hope Thurs goes well for you. I know what you mean about the wait between.. I only had one last week and I'm anxious again. Next one is next Tues now.

@Justawannabemam hope you're doing okay! 😊

Overlyanxious · 05/04/2022 15:28

@Bryterlayter1 that's great news Smile

Overlyanxious · 05/04/2022 16:34

@xreadytoglow thanks. I'm feeling a bit better today. We've been taking it in turns to look after each other.

@ShareLove I've got some extra scans coming up. It's so expensive but I need to know how it's all going. Have you got your NHS scan booked yet? Mine isn't until 13 weeks - so have an extra week to wait. I'm definitely going private at 10 weeks and may do a 12 week.

JMC91 · 05/04/2022 18:47

@Bryterlayter1 that's great 🥰 glad it went well x

Justawannabemam · 05/04/2022 20:40

@xreadytoglow hi everyone . I'm doing ok over here thank you.

Just lots to think about atm. We got a dating scan on 20th April. But they don't do the screening tests so we got another on the 27th. She said that it can take up to 30 mins to get all measurements of 1 baby so I could be in a while. I think im starting to show. I'm in my bigger work trousers. Still been going the gym to keep me sane.

Weve decided to have diagnostic tests done after the scan. We may have to pay for them which is fine. The midwife recommended it due to my age and the impact of having three if they had any condition. But then comes the worry of what would we do if any if them do. I'm actually worn out thinking about it. And it's going to be another 3 weeks before we see the specialist. I'm not sleeping because of the worry and I cry just thinking about it

Sorry if I come across as being a bit negative that's why I just took a little time out .

You are all doing well getting scans booked etc. X
