BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

1000 replies

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@Bryterlayter1 lol maybe... 😂 I keep waiting for it to sneak up on me. Have felt bit queasy at nite other than that nothing. Lol. Gues shouldn't complain. 😂

Overlyanxious · 02/04/2022 13:16

@Frenchiepupmama I hope the 12th April comes round nice and quickly. It does sound like you are one of the lucky ones. I'm sorry you had covid as well. I currently have a cold and I feel awful - so can't imagine how bad you felt.

Millymillymillymillymilly · 02/04/2022 20:23

@Bluehawaii29 Helloooooo again. I was ill last week, had a cold which did not help with the symptoms. Plus, I’m trying to not google or read any pregnancy related topics. Been too obsessed. I hope you get a lovely surprise on your next scan!

I had my scan today, 6+6 currently and we are having 1 baby :) Strong heartbeat (135bpm) I cried as soon as we heard it. It was the best sound ever. I have another next week and I asked the doctor today whether there’s any risks doing another one in such short period. She was like it’s fine, you can do one every day if you like LOL.

I’ve gone ahead to also book my Harmony test. Are any of you considering that?

Contrasts @ShareLove!!! Exciting times ahead :)

Millymillymillymillymilly · 02/04/2022 20:25

@Frenchiepupmama Lucky you have no symptoms! I’ve felt nauseous since the beginning. And now I’ve actually started puking randomly after meals. Hope all is going well x

Bluehawaii29 · 02/04/2022 20:31

@Millymillymillymillymilly heyy aww sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well last week. That’s great about your scan. Yea we did ours at 6wk+3 and heart beat 115bpm at that time. Everytime you hear it sounds amazing. Having follow up scan next weds and then a 9 week scan as well. What’s harmony test? x

Bluehawaii29 · 02/04/2022 20:33

@Millymillymillymillymilly managed to eat a lot more last couple days, boobs are hurting more but nausea is better which is nice. But now I have to content with constipation so not sure which symptom I prefer. It’s like one gets better and a new one comes. It’s good to hear from you again. Was wondering what happened to you. We are 7 weeks tomorrow yay, size of a blueberrySmile xx

Millymillymillymillymilly · 02/04/2022 20:49

@Bluehawaii29 Yay! :)

Harmony is to test down syndrome and some other chromosome defects by taking blood from the mum.

Bluehawaii29 · 02/04/2022 20:56

@Millymillymillymillymilly oh I see that sounds good but I don’t think I’m going to be able to handle results like those just yet. My anxiety is getting better now. The more tests the worse it gets so gonna give myself a break now

2mumlife · 02/04/2022 21:48

@Frenchiepupmama Nausea is horrible, be grateful you're not feeling it! I can't imagine having covid and nausea at the same time, so you really dodged a bullet not feeling the nausea!

@Millymillymillymillymilly We did the NHS combined NT test, but nothing else. We tried so long for this baby, we'd take whatever we're given at this point (though our combined test results came back low risk). I'm always amazed when people get to heart the heartbeat - I'm 18 weeks tomorrow and still haven't heard the heartbeat at any of the scans (fertility clinic or NHS), only seen the heart flickering away (and no one has ever measured bpm!)

Bluehawaii29 · 03/04/2022 08:06

Hey guys I just vomited this morning. I normally take my oestrogen tablet, cod liver oil and pregnacare all in one go before breakfast. I’d been to the toilet before I had it and swallowed them all with water. I then went on to put my pessary in but couple of mins later I started retching and then next minute some fluid came up and ran to the bathroom and more fluid came up but looked more like the water rather than the tablets? Do you think I’m safe that the tablets would have gone down still?

womaninkent · 03/04/2022 09:00

@Bluehawaii29 exactly the same thing happened to me yesterday morning. I wouldn't worry so long as you kept the other doses down-my clinic told me earlier in the cycle that missing one dose of oestrogen wouldn't be a problem.

Bluehawaii29 · 03/04/2022 09:26

@womaninkent thanks, yeah I definitely took oestrogen down first so hopefully that would have been the last one to come up but like you my clinic said one tablet +/- is ok. I don’t think I’m coping too well with pregnacare anymore and got a feeling that it made things worse so am going to get separate folic acid and vitD tabs to supplement just in case x

2mumlife · 03/04/2022 10:16

@Bluehawaii29 Try adjusting timing your tablets around your nauseous periods

Bluehawaii29 · 03/04/2022 10:26

@2mumlife good idea but the morning dose is going to be hard whatever I do. So hard even finishing my breakfast. Try not to stand up and just eat it slowly in bed. I was thinking my nausea was bit better last couple of days and now it’s back with a vengeance

womaninkent · 03/04/2022 12:07

@Bluehawaii29 yes the pregnacare is really turning my stomach as well. I don't have any solutions just solidarity!

Bluehawaii29 · 03/04/2022 14:31

@womaninkent just had the folic acid and vitD tabs on their own now. Swallowed them a lot better. Might switch to this option on the days my nausea is especially bad x

2mumlife · 03/04/2022 16:05

@Bluehawaii29 I was always lucky I didn't have "morning" sickness and mine hit in the evening, so I could get some food into me at breakfast no problem, just couldn't eat dinner!

Bluehawaii29 · 03/04/2022 16:15

@2mumlife yeah mine is very random and all day pretty much. Been enjoying carrot sticks and banana dipped in peanut butter this afternoon though. Thankfully my weight is catching up to my normal now so not doing too badly

Bluehawaii29 · 04/04/2022 10:08

Another medication dilemma today. Put my progesterone pessary in vaginally as usual but only managed 5 mins before got this urge to open bowels. Now worried in case I lost that pessary and can’t be sure if it all stayed in or not. I’m thinking of doing my afternoon pessary earlier today in case but wanted to know if anyone has taken an extra one if this has ever happened

JMC91 · 04/04/2022 11:04

@Bluehawaii29 I did the same this morning, I kind of did t think about it too much because I take them every 6 hours ish.
Do you think it has an effect if it's not absorbed for long enough ? X

Bluehawaii29 · 04/04/2022 11:11

@JMC91 I was really constipated so never thought I was gonna get a strong urge like so suddenly. It was horrible. Was trying my best to hold it just for a few more mins but had to give in in the end. Hoping it stayed in somehow but difficult to know, they say normally if absorbed effects should act over 6-8hrs. Hoping if I do lunchtime dose then that should take me through to my Lubion injection this evening. Am checking what the clinic thinks as well so will let you know their advice x

JMC91 · 04/04/2022 11:58

@Bluehawaii29 hopefully it's alright. Let me know what they say, yes.

My ivf clinic have basically told me to direct all my questions to my midwife now. (This happened 2 weeks ago when I was 8 weeks) I thought I was with them until 12 weeks. Anyone else? X

2mumlife · 04/04/2022 13:23

@Bluehawaii29 @JMC91 I really wouldn't worry about it as a one off - remember, you and the pregnancy are not that delicate / fragile!

2mumlife · 04/04/2022 13:25

@JMC91 After your viability scan if all is well, they'll make sure you've got enough meds and your instructions for reducing meds when the time comes, and your fertility clinic will discharge you. Try to see it as graduating - you're pregnant, and you don't need fertility treatment any more! :)

Bluehawaii29 · 04/04/2022 13:28

@2mumlife lol thanks for putting things in to perspective. It does seem like it’s so fragile at times and these meds are it’s life support machine x
