BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

1000 replies

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@ShareLove oh I have everything crossed for you lovely!! You deserve this!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Overlyanxious · 01/04/2022 10:04

@ShareLove keeping everything crossed for you.

I'm full of cold today so feeling even more unwell then usual. However it's a lovely sunny day and nearly the weekend

Bluehawaii29 · 01/04/2022 10:10

I managed to bring my ivf clinic scan to 6th April instead of 13th now. If all ok next week they will discharge me to antenatal team 🙏🏽🤞 I told them that since heart beat has been confirmed why should I have to have internal scan with EPU and then another scan the week after with them. It’s too much to go through two more Internal scans so the nurse finally discussed with the manager and confirmed they are making this exception for me. Just have to make it to next weds now 🤞🤞❤️

Overlyanxious · 01/04/2022 10:15

@Bluehawaii29 that's great news. Less than a week to wait now Smile

Bluehawaii29 · 01/04/2022 10:18

@Overlyanxious thank you, excited and nervous but at least I have more knowledge of what’s going on than before so hopefully that will help prepare me. How are you doing now? Do you have a scan coming up or have you already had it x

Bluehawaii29 · 01/04/2022 10:34

Oh no now the ivf clinic are saying they don’t discharge me apparently because now that I’m with EPU I have to be followed up on their pathway and apparently can self refer to antenatal care now if I want?! This is really weird

Overlyanxious · 01/04/2022 10:43

@Bluehawaii29 that is weird.

I had my 8 week scan yesterday and everything looked good Smile just wish I didn't have this cold

Bluehawaii29 · 01/04/2022 10:46

@Overlyanxious oh that’s great news, well done. Currently I am waiting for EPU to call me back to give me that appt. I can’t believe the ivf nurse gave me false information because the Dr who would be doing the scan called me and said since I’m on the EPU pathway I am with them now and they don’t do anything more. Just have to get the rest of my meds to last me the 12 weeks. This is so stressful. Literally have no date now in the diary for my scan

Overlyanxious · 01/04/2022 11:39

@Bluehawaii29 thank you Smile that's not helpful with them giving different information. How do you arrange your next scan?

Bluehawaii29 · 01/04/2022 11:46

@Overlyanxious I’ve now had to go back to EPU to get them to give me that 7 day appt as planned but just waiting for them to tell me exact slot. Really hope they still have something. Not happy with the miscommunication going on with the ivf nurse and Dr this morning, Not helpful at all. And now I have to chase them for the rest of my meds as well

Bluehawaii29 · 01/04/2022 11:57

Phew got my original appt date and time for scan for next weds 🤞x

Overlyanxious · 01/04/2022 12:07

@Bluehawaii29 oh phew. Glad that worked out.

Bluehawaii29 · 01/04/2022 12:13

Seems surreal not to be seeing the ivf Dr again. She just told me I can go ahead and self refer to antenatal now if I want so I’ve just done that too. Hopefully all will be good next week x

ShareLove · 01/04/2022 15:45

Hey , girls , good news ! I didn’t miscarry , I am 5+6 days today . 1 day off . So everything was Perfect and saw heartbeat .
I had Subchorionic hematoma, I will now book a week off work as I have physical job lifting and was told to take it easy StarHalo

womaninkent · 01/04/2022 15:54

@ShareLove I'm so pleased, what amazing news. Have a lovely rest.

Overlyanxious · 01/04/2022 16:00

@ShareLove that's amazing news Smile

Bluehawaii29 · 01/04/2022 16:13

@ShareLove see I told you! Same happened to me too :) mine resolved already so you’ll be fine xx

ShareLove · 01/04/2022 16:21

@Bluehawaii29
Thank you everyone I’m so happy ! I was expecting the worst…
By I’m a bit worried now as the nurse said that the Subchorionic hematoma is covering about 40% of the sac , which is quite big , but she said take it easy and hopefully it will go away on it own Smile the bigger the pregnancy grows the smaller the Subchorionic hematoma will get so I’m staying hopeful xx

ShareLove · 01/04/2022 16:34

Also booked a week off work this week so will pay for private scan in a week to check it again , and then I’ll have my ivf scan a week after my private one xxx

JMC91 · 01/04/2022 17:00

@ShareLove that is great news !
Same happened to me, bleed due to hematoma , was told not to lift a thing, it's hard as I have a toddler.

Take it easy and try to stay positive xxxx

2mumlife · 01/04/2022 17:16

@Bluehawaii29 Get used to every bit of the hospital not communicating! If I was you I would have kept the EPU and IVF clinic scan - its going to feel like a long time until 12 week scan if you don't have your later IVF clinic one. You can self-refer to the midwife team anytime after 6 weeks normally.

@ShareLove So pleased its good news! Don't be surprised if the SCH grows - my first scan (after the bleed) showed a small area of bleeding. A week later it was much bigger (because it had filled with blood again after the gush) but had started coagulating. A few weeks later at 12 week scan there was no sign of it (it had completely self-absorbed). I carried on life as normal, I just didn't do any gym classes for a few weeks (easy to do when I felt nauseous anyway!)

Put together the next2me crib today that I picked up yesterday, which was good to check out (it'll go up to the attic now I know its all working and is going to fit where we want it). We're trying to get as much as we can through swap and barter pages to save money and the environment, so have been 'collecting' bits and bobs for awhile. I find it makes it feel more real everytime we go pick up another thing Grin

Bluehawaii29 · 01/04/2022 17:27

@2mumlife hey luckily EPU got me rebooked in for next weds and then spoke to the nice nurse at ivf clinic who was shocked that dr just wiped her hands off me just because I’m with EPU. She said they always like to see how their patients are doing and now has offered me the appt at Chelsea Westminster hospital instead of the sister hospital so that I can have my 9 week reassurance scan with them :) hopefully will break up the time a bit for me till the 12 week scan x

2mumlife · 01/04/2022 20:00

@Bluehawaii29 That sounds perfect :)

Frenchiepupmama · 02/04/2022 09:52

Hey everyone hope you all doin OK. Finally starting to feel like I'm recovering from the covid. Gutted had to cancel my private scan for today and lunch I had booked for mother in law to come and see on the screen. Now just anxious wait til 12th April to get to nhs scan. Will b 13 weeks by then. Stil had no morning sickness 🤷‍♀️ hope everyone has a lovely weekend xx

Bryterlayter1 · 02/04/2022 11:04

@Frenchiepupmama maybe you are in the lucky 20% of women who don't get morning sickness. I haven't had any yet either (apart from the odd queasy feeling), but am only 6w5d.
