BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

Justawannabemam · 22/03/2022 07:27

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@JMC91 so pleased you saw the baby. Fingers crossed on the infection. I hadn't heard about until I went for an ultrasound for painful periods. Then all the focus was on the fact it can be difficult to get pregnant. I'm not sure if I will have more check ups. I need to mention it to my midwife and I have a drs appointment booked for end of April so can go via that route.

Overlyanxious · 29/03/2022 17:10

Thank you @Bryterlayter1. I may be upsetting myself over nothing

Bluehawaii29 · 29/03/2022 18:15

@JMC91thats great news about your scan, must be a relief xx
@Overlyanxioussorry you are having these kind of thoughts. I don’t think it should effect things now that you are pregnant but if it helps tiger the referral you should go for it. Hope you are feeling better x

Overlyanxious · 29/03/2022 18:40

@Bluehawaii29 thanks. I had a little cry earlier, which has made me feel a bit better. I have my 8 week scan on Thursday so that's probably increasing my anxiety.

Also did you say it was your birthday today? Or sometime this week?

Bluehawaii29 · 29/03/2022 18:48

@Overlyanxious aww thanks for remembering my bday Smile yeah it was really nice x went cinema in daytime but was having a tough time staying awake lol and now in Pizza Hut, exhausted but trying to make a fun day. Looking forward to eating x

Overlyanxious · 29/03/2022 19:23

@Bluehawaii29 lovely - enjoy your pizza x

Hey ladies just having a little catch up. I had a bit of a strange day yesterday. I spoke to the specialist hospital that we have been referred to for multiples, she was so lovely but has given us lots to think about. I dont want to go into details it was all about the screening tests/results etc. Kinda left us a bit deflated I think.

Anyhow we've cheered ourselves up having a look for some baby clothes and announcement stuff. I have come across a lovely website called Barney and Bella on Instagram. They have some beautiful bits, it's a small independent company that has just started in the summer. They offer a good 15% discount on their website via instagram page. Have a look.
X

@Justawannabemam I'm sorry that you're feeling a bit deflated - but having a look at baby clothes to cheer you up sounded like a good idea. I guess being pregnant is going to have a range of ups and downs

Justawannabemam · 30/03/2022 08:06

@Overlyanxious it certainly will. X

I'm feeling a bit more positive today . Off to the gym shortly. X

@Justawannabemam I'm glad you're feeling more positive. I've woken up with a cold which is a bit rubbish - but it's keeping me distracted from my small meltdown yesterday. What exercises do you do in the gym? I need to be more active x

Justawannabemam · 30/03/2022 08:46

@Overlyanxious I was doing crossfit type stuff full on now I go but I concentrate more on strength work . Not silly loads. And the conditioning part of the class I just go at my own pace. No one bats an eye lid . And it makes me feel better. Although there is a small chance I could vomit this morning. 🤢

@Justawannabemam hope you're taking your mind off things. Is it just the regular things they tell parents of multiples? Maybe they just have to tell you all the details to be safe.

And wow impressive that you're working out at this stage :-)
I'm finding it difficult to walk at normal pace, still in a bit of pain.
It's definitely affecting my mood not being able to get out and do much, usually I'm quite active.

Justawannabemam · 30/03/2022 09:22

@JMC91 that's it . It totally lifts my mood when I've been . I'm gonna try and go for as long as possible really. I'm still quite early @Bluehawaii29
How far on are you now ?

@Justawannabemam heyy 6wk +3 today, found we were pregnant 2 weeks ago but feels like an eternity. Just getting ready to go for internal scan. Hopefully they can see more today 🤞 so scared again even though we just had a scan on Sunday. Don’t know what’s wrong with me!

Overlyanxious · 30/03/2022 09:31

@Bluehawaii29 good luck for the scan - but you won't need it x

I just found out I'm pregnant at the same time as my MiL's cat - which made me laugh a bit. My MiL sent us a video of her ultrasound

Bluehawaii29 · 30/03/2022 09:38

@Overlyanxious lol that made me laugh 🤣 does she act different around you?

Bluehawaii29 · 30/03/2022 11:27

Hi just had the scan, they saw two sac and one baby was normal size and heart beating strong at 115bpm but the other one they couldn’t find a heart beat. They are not sure if it’s still to early for that one so going to re scan again next weds but she thinks it’s unlikely to show up next week on that one so i think it’s just the one now. Just praying he/she makes it

Justawannabemam · 30/03/2022 11:51

@Bluehawaii29 aww I hope you are okay. I dont really know what to say as you'll be gutted you've lost one but think of the positives and you've still got a healthy baby .xx

OP posts:
Bluehawaii29 · 30/03/2022 11:59

@Justawannabemam yeah I’m not too bad thank you. I guess it was better to lose that one now than something happening to it later down the line. She said if the heart beat for that doesn’t appear by next week the body will just absorb it back but won’t cause any harm or interference to the healthy one. The healthy one was measuring 5.5mm which she said is normal for week 6 and the other one was only 3.5mm so either it’s slower or just not made it, she thinks it’s more likely the latter but they are rescanning next week for viability of twin 2 so may give us a surprise you never know

JMC91 · 30/03/2022 12:09

@Bluehawaii29 I'm
Sorry to hear that lovely. Hope you can stay positive about the healthy one ❤️

2mumlife · 30/03/2022 12:37

@Overlyanxious Try not to google things. My short cervix could cause t2 misscarriage or preterm birth - I'm dealing with it 1 step at a time, and sounds like you need to take a similar approach with adenomyosis. Mention it at your booking in appointment and they'll tell you if you need extra appointments etc.

@JMC91 Glad you got some reassurance. Some of the pain might be uterus stretching - I've had a lot of stretching / round ligament pains.

@Justawannabemam I'm sorry you were feeling deflated, but sadly, multiples just come with a lot of additional risks, which should have been explained to you before you made the decision to put back more than 1 embryo. They'll obviously do their best to support you and achieve the best outcome possible for you all, but you are going to be on a much tougher journey. I know my hospital has a specialist support group for multiples, because the pregnancy will be a lot more complicated with additional considerations - worth asking your consultant if there is something similar in your area?

@Bluehawaii29 Seems to be a fairly common occurance I'm afraid - I've heard a couple women who 1 embryo wasn't viable. Try to stay focussed on what you set out for - a single healthy baby in your arms :)

@2mumlife thank you smile yes staying positive for the healthy one and that was our logic behind putting two back in the first place. We were just hoping one of those was normal and it looks like this one is a fighter and going strong at 6wk+3 so just need to keep praying and looking after myself

xreadytoglow · 30/03/2022 13:22

@Justawannabemam hope you're feeling okay now. I can imagine there will be ups and downs but the outcome will be well worth it I'm sure. And it's only natural that we worry about our babies 🤍

@Bluehawaii29 I'm so sorry to hear your second one likely hasn't made it. Like you said, at least it's happened now rather than later down the line. Sending hugs but very good news that you have one healthy strong one still

Justawannabemam · 30/03/2022 14:05

@2mumlife my local hospital doesn't specialise for triplets. Maybe twins but I'm not 100%. Our nearest is 2 and half hours away !! Crazy eh . But it is a far better hospital and if that's the best care then we will go there. Alot of the appointments can be done remotely from local and they'll video link up. But if they want to see me then we can go thru. And hopefully they will plan a due date so we can get there.

Our embryologist said 5% chance of one splitting. Hence why we opted for 2. We will be closely monitored and hopefully everything will run smoothly.
