BFPs following IVF to take symptoms & scans

Hi everyone.

I've started this group for us to chat about our symptoms, scans and any other pregancy related issues after getting a BFP following IVF/IUI/ICSI.

It is by no means to leave anyone out of the previous groups we have been in, where we all offer advice and help during an IVF cycle.

We all know hearing people's positive pregancy news can be heart breaking. I just found on the group that we are talking scans, symptoms, signs and positive tests I'm very conscious that those currently mid cycle may get upset.

We can all still give advice but maybe we could use this group as our pregnancies progress.

I've tagged who I remember from the last group, please feel free to add others as they join us on this next phase of our journey or if I have missed anyone.

@Konnie1991 and @Bluehawaii29 hope your scans go well today

I have mine at EPU later.

Has anyone been advised to take baby aspirin by their clinic?
I have and I've just read the pregnacare supplements label that I've been taking also and it says do not mix with aspirin.
I'm freaking out a bit as I just assumed it was safe to be taking what the doctor suggested 😫

Bluehawaii29 · 29/03/2022 08:26

@JMC91 heyy good luck with your scan today xx no sorry I haven’t been on baby aspirin. I did ask consultant about this and she said we don’t routinely give it unless if I had a history of miscarriage etc so I didn’t take it but I’m sure it’s safe as lots of people do take it al the way up to 12 weeks x

ShareLove · 29/03/2022 08:58

@JMC91 hey , I am on 600mg utrogestan progesterone pessaries a day and 1 lubion progesterone injection a day
10mg Elle solo estrogen tablets 5 tablets x2mg
And evorel 100 . Oestrogen patches , 2 patches every 2nd day
Fragmin blood thinners
And aspirin Smile

@Bluehawaii29 that is good getting another scan - but yes get the anxiety around it. I don't have armpit pain but I have pain at the side of my breast. I think it makes sense that your armpit could hurt as well.

@JMC91 can you check with the Dr about taking aspirin with the pregnacare to give some reassurance? I haven't taken aspirin but I know a lot of people do. Also baby aspirin is a lot lower dose then normal aspirin.

Morning guys,
I went to EPU this morning and had an abdominal scan. All is fine. Baby has a good heartbeat and is measuring on track for 8 weeks today. She couldn't see any signs of bleeding around the sac or the uterus. They think it's just down to the pessary since it happened an hour after insertion. Very very relieved. Thanks for all your reassuring words last night 🤍🤍

Good luck @Konnie1991 and @JMC91 for your scans today 💐

JMC91 · 29/03/2022 11:40

@xreadytoglow that's such a relief. So happy for you 🥰
Glad you got seen so quickly

Bluehawaii29 · 29/03/2022 11:53

@xreadytoglow that’s a great scan, well done xx
How did you find the internal scan? I got my first internal one tomorrow, bit nervous

Overlyanxious · 29/03/2022 12:06

@xreadytoglow that's great news on the scan

xreadytoglow · 29/03/2022 12:25

@Bluehawaii29 honestly it was fine. What part of it makes you nervous? The procedure itself isn't painful at all. Once you see your babies on the screen you won't be aware of much else I'm sure 😊

xreadytoglow · 29/03/2022 12:25

Thank you @JMC91 @Overlyanxious 🤍

Bluehawaii29 · 29/03/2022 12:31

@xreadytoglow my mum wasn’t too keen on me having it as she’s worried about it has any effect on the babies but I said it’s not known to cause any harm. That’s good you’re was a good experience x

xreadytoglow · 29/03/2022 12:46

@Bluehawaii29 Ah okay. Honestly I was worried about that too. Then I saw someone on another post say if internal scans had any risk attached to them, they wouldn't be recommending women who've had recurrent losses to have only early on. Which just makes a lot of sense to me. But if you want to, ask them to try abdominally first?

xreadytoglow · 29/03/2022 12:46

one* early on

Bluehawaii29 · 29/03/2022 13:04

@xreadytoglow already had abdominal one on Sunday and they saw quite a bit but EPU say they always do internal so it’s fine. Better to see a good view I guess x

2mumlife · 29/03/2022 14:13

@Bluehawaii29 Unless you've been told not to have penetrative sex, an internal scan is totally fine. I'm sure EPU are just being cautious. If it makes you anxious you can always decline the EPU scan as your private one showed everything was fine. Your viability scan at clinic will be internal too just so you know what to expect.

@xreadytoglow Glad everything is looking good and you feel less anxious now.

@JMC91 Good luck with scan. Go with what clinic advise is best for your circumstances, as they will know your medical history and individual risk factors, and the risk/benefits to you personally.

Bluehawaii29 · 29/03/2022 14:19

@2mumlife thanks for your advice. Yeah I think it will prepare me better and hopefully reassure me prior to the 8 weeks scan which is still a whole 2 weeks away on 13th april! Can’t believe how long they would have made me wait without any scan at all. I would have been going out my mind with worry if it wasn’t for the private scan x

Bluehawaii29 · 29/03/2022 14:19

@Millymillymillymillymilly how are you doing? Haven’t heard from you in a while. Have you had any reassurance scans so far x

JMC91 · 29/03/2022 14:20

Thanks @2mumlife
It's in an hours time, I'm pretty anxious x

JMC91 · 29/03/2022 14:22

@Bluehawaii29 can i ask does your hematoma hurt or are you in any discomfort? X

Bluehawaii29 · 29/03/2022 14:24

@JMC91 hiya no I never felt any pain or discomfort throughout. Just that reddish spotting that I got from it on Saturday which then stopped. Do you think your pain might be related to haematoma? Apparently they can cause that as well

Overlyanxious · 29/03/2022 15:44

I'm feeling a bit rubbish today. I have mild adenomyosis which is a bit like endo but in the uterus. When I was trying to get pregnant I just got told it's not that bad and I should be ok. However I foolishly ended up on a mn thread and then Google and I found out it can cause all these pregnancy complications - including higher risk of miscarriage both in t1 and t2, issues with the placenta and pre term delivery. I'm hoping as it's mild I'll be ok but I feel a bit doomed right now. It's also one of these things people don't know loads about so I think I may need to get a gynae referral as well

JMC91 · 29/03/2022 16:46

I was at EPU and all looking fine , baby was waving, I cried.
They couldn't see my ovaries on scan so looks like something in the way. And seems like it may be an infection not related to pregnancy fingers crossed. Will find out from GP when results come back

JMC91 · 29/03/2022 16:48

@Overlyanxious ah I'd never heard of that before. When I was doing ivf they found I had thickened uterine lining, I don't know the reason why. So it was a bit of a challenge to get pregnant.
Are you having more check ups because of your condition.

Hope you're feeling alright x

Bryterlayter1 · 29/03/2022 16:53

@overlyanxious that sounds really stressful. I'm sorry you are going through all of this. I think pushing for a gynae referral sounds sensible, at least it will give you some reassurance that someone specialist is looking into the matter.

@JMC91 wonderful news about the scan. Hope the infection is easily treated.
