No!! It will way more painful than normal.

BertieBotts · 19/03/2022 16:04

No. Midwives don't care if you're hairy!

RavenclawsRoar · 19/03/2022 16:06

Absolutely not. There's enough pain to endure without having to suffer through that. I've never even so much as shaved my legs l.

yorkshireteaspoonie · 19/03/2022 16:06

I've carried on getting waxed throughout pregnancy (36 weeks now) don't think it's any more painful than normal and I'd rather the wax than the enormous itchy irritation that is growing it out or shaving.

Loopytiles · 19/03/2022 16:08

Don’t bother

Haha I do, really more for me than them!

Never even considered it, don't tend to remove hair down there regularly anyway though. Very few women do, in my experience.

notacooldad · 19/03/2022 16:11

I did and dont regret it.
I had a big pamper session a few days before I went into labour. Everything, waxing, pedicure, brows, lashes, hair , the lot.
Those photos are around for ever!!!🤣
Waxing wasnt any worse than usual.

Yes!!! Totally agree, almost 39 weeks and booking myself in next week for a pamper.

I did, plenty of friends did too. Second time around I was having an elective section and didn't want to be shaved so went for my usual wax. Nothing wrong with a bit of a pampering before the big day x

itssquidstella · 19/03/2022 16:19

I’m 31 weeks and have been getting waxed as normal throughout. I'm planning on getting a wax, pedicure, manicure and haircut when I’m 38/9 weeks so that I feel a bit more put-together when I give birth and for the few weeks afterwards when I don't imagine I'll have the time or inclination to think about personal grooming!

Yes! Do it. It took my mind off things and it was relaxing.

People said I was daft ( 1st time was 25 years ago and 2nd time 22 years ago!)
It made grooming easier in the first few weeks of new baby madness!

BertieBotts · 19/03/2022 16:22

Sounds like bloody torture :o :o :o

🤣
Not really, it's nice not having to think about what jobs I need doing and literally putting my feet up while someone made me look nice!

MajorCarolDanvers · 19/03/2022 16:28

Why would you even consider doing that?

Totally unnecessary and unhealthy

notacooldad · 19/03/2022 16:29

Totally unnecessary and unhealthy
It maybe unnecessary , I agree but why unhealthy?

Fatarseflanagan09 · 19/03/2022 16:30

I’d love to have it done but I’m scared that they’ll think my fannies ugly because my horrible ex said it was like a baboons arse.

20viona · 19/03/2022 16:31

Yes I had a Hollywood the day before because have them every 6 weeks anyway and I'm sure visually it's easier to stitch with a clear view. I'm a nurse and sutures where there are hairs definitely get in the way.

20viona · 19/03/2022 16:32

@MajorCarolDanvers unhealthy 😂 classic Mumsnet.

TheBirdintheCave · 19/03/2022 16:33

@notacooldad Because the hair serves a purpose :)

Ooh I haven't even thought of that but that definitely makes sense!

Yes but what’s unhealthy about not having it. I’ve t had any problems and I’ve been getting waxed ( bikini, under arm and legs ) for forty years now.

beattieedny · 19/03/2022 17:03

Jesus Christ no, why?! It's horrible looking. You're an adult woman. And trust me, as a former midwife, we do not give a fuck. All we want is the mum and baby in one piece in a timely manner, with mothers wishes and autonomy being respected. Wouldn't judge you for having a shaven haven, but a packet of Old Holborn is normal. No idea why you'd put yourself through that, and there is a risk of infection.
As for making it easier for stitches, utterly nonsense! We don't sew the hairy bits!

beattieedny · 19/03/2022 17:04

Also the idea having hair ripped out is 'pampering',. Wtf happened to us, women. A massage is pampering. Being made to look like a hairless infant is gross.

KobaniDaughters · 19/03/2022 17:08

Yup I did - you bleed for potentially weeks after and it’s minting cleaning that much blood out of public hair
