OP posts:

I did - had a Hollywood at 38 weeks.

When I was in labour though, I had 20+ people up the business end of things during my emcs and I couldn't have cared less what my bits looked like.

If you end up with a section, they will shave you anyway.

Allaboutyou222 · 20/03/2022 06:23

Still depressing to me that women have been conditioned to think that naturally occurring pubic hair is unsightly.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 20/03/2022 06:30

I had a planned section for twins and two weeks before had a wax and facial etc. Not a full Hollywood! Just a tidy up and it made me feel good and prepared for the birth. I had no idea about the infection risk though.

@boymummys

Shaving is definitely a regular habit which I do anyway and definitely not doing just for labour. I realise midwives wouldn't care but like you say feels much more comfortable especially as I won't be able to do it for a while after giving birth.

When I meant waxing I was talking about legs which is nice having it done but the title of thread came across I was talking about waxing bikini area?! Especially for the midwives?

youlearnsomethingneweveryday · 20/03/2022 06:55

I did, not for any midwife's or doctors benefit though,
I did it because I felt in the postpartum stage, it was a bit easier to manage and feel clean - for me personally.

boymummys · 20/03/2022 07:11

@motherof3bambinos

Even if you was on about waxing down there it's each to there own, and alot of people on this post have proved just how many people actually do wax before birth.

I'm still confused at how many " midwives done care " comments there is after every single person who has shaved/waxed before birth has said it's nothing to do with them it's how it makes us feel. I have the midwife on my Facebook who delivered my son. She seen every part of me that day and I couldn't of cared less about pubic hair haha!

Lots if things are natural. Doesn't mean you have to like the,....ie beards but I would hate my DH to grow one..in fact he didn't as he likes to please me so no different. I had a full wax before I was due and did for me.

My lip and chin hair and 'moustache' is naturally occurring. I get rid of them as well. Most women do.
I bet most people criticising the removal of pubic haircare assuming that posters ate meaning the whole lot is coming off. That isnt true. I guess a lot are just having a tidy up. I hate it when I have runaway spidey hair outside my knickers.
Also those criticising, I bet most of you shave under your arms or would remove a stray unsightly hair from your nostril when they appear. Those hairs are naturally occurring as well.
There's bigger things to be depressed over than a 57 year old keeping her bits tidy!!

Oh this comment had me 🤣🤣🤣

Honestly. If it makes you happy and isn't hurting anyone, nothing depressing about it.

At 57?! I applaud you 👏🏼

Go on, let me in what you find funny and why are you patronising me about my age.

motherof3bambinos · 20/03/2022 08:14

I was actually in agreement with everything you said in your comment 🤗

kentiapalm · 20/03/2022 08:17

I'm in the "fully waxed makes you look like a prepubescent child" camp usually and I never shave, I like it natural. However, after my last birth that ended in an emergency csection I think I'd consider waxing first this time. They had to shave me to do the section and they didn't do a great job, and the regrowth afterwards was soooo itchy. I'm hoping for a vbac but might wax anyway just in case.

motherof3bambinos · 20/03/2022 08:17

Yes. Once again, (child) porn rears its ugly head.

This comment ... 😳😂🤣😅

Anyone get a full Brazilian for this reason?!

Clearly I'm a little prickly in the morning before coffee!🤣

Namechangednorth · 20/03/2022 09:44

I find this connection to removing pubic hair instantly being associated with attraction to children depressing, same as the assumption it is from men that are porn addled.

My DH simply likes (loves) that I am fully waxed and I maintain it like that. I am totally used to being like that and prefer it now. I would also be hacked off if if he grew a long beard which I don't like..so it is about mutual respect in our marriage for what each of us like

XioXio · 20/03/2022 10:26

I shaved during pregnancy as I found it too sensitive to maintain my previous epilating/waxing. I shaved a week or so before birth. Made sure I was neat and tidy for the postpartum period where I wouldn't be able to shave. Not for anyone else's benefit.

I definitely feel cleaner with the hair gone, I also love feeling smooth and soft. I have a lot of hair and it's really thick coverage so I guess it all depends on personal preference as well as how much hair you actually have.

fridaRose · 20/03/2022 13:50

Jesus Christ no, why?! It's horrible looking.

@beattieedny
Erm women can choose to wax or not, without your nasty judgement? I don't turn my nose at your hairy vagina, so please respect others' choices too.

OP, I've lasered all pubic hair off and love it, smooth and neat and feels clean (to me). You can also shave with a mirror if it helps.

Same here. I also love my husband all shaved down there too. It is nice for oral sex Blush
fridaRose · 20/03/2022 14:00

@ChairCareOh

I can’t believe having your pubic hair ripped out is considered “pampering” by some people.
It's the same way as doing a grovelling workout is classed as a 'hobby'. You enjoy the results you get from doing it.

The results of a smooth, soft, and neat looking vagina.

NameChange30 · 20/03/2022 14:07

Vulva, not vagina.

Petrarkanian · 20/03/2022 14:07

Vulva surely?

fridaRose · 20/03/2022 14:10

Vulva 🤷‍♀️ you understood what I meant Smile

NameChange30 · 20/03/2022 14:11

I'm very lax about hair removal, I like neatly plucked eyebrows and will "tidy up" visible areas (armpits, lower legs, bikini line) when I'm going swimming or in the summer... but am otherwise pretty hairy Grin

Towards the end of my pregnancy with DC1, I got a half leg wax and a pedicure, as a little treat to myself - obviously the wax itself is not exactly pleasurable but I do like having hair-free legs. The pedicure (favourite colour on my toenails) did cheer me up a bit at the end of pregnancy and in the early days. It was for myself and not the medical staff (although they did compliment me on my toes!) As I couldn't even see my lady Garden I wasn't too bothered about it, I might have done a bit of a tidy but I can't remember.

I think women who usually like to have a bikini wax would probably continue when pregnant and before birth, and those who don't, wouldn't do it just because of having a baby.

Girlmumdogmumboymum · 20/03/2022 14:12

Theres a possibility I might be induced tomorrow.
I'll be using DHs face trimmer this evening (int he lucky?!)
Not putting myself through the waxing but want to be sort of tidy.
