If you don’t want it done or don’t like it, fine, some people do. That is also fine.
Each to their own and all that.
There no need to criticise other people’s grooming choices if that’s what they want to do.

Fedupsotired · 19/03/2022 17:23

@notacooldad

I did and dont regret it. I had a big pamper session a few days before I went into labour. Everything, waxing, pedicure, brows, lashes, hair , the lot. Those photos are around for ever!!!🤣 Waxing wasnt any worse than usual.
@notacooldad which angle were you having photos taken!! 🤣
twinsetandpearl · 19/03/2022 17:29

I did for my first but second was twins and honestly couldn't see what was going on down there from about 20 weeks pregnant - they came in an emergency anyway so literally everything went wrong and 10 mins later they were out - as someone once said before on one of these threads - they could have plaited it for all I cared at that moment 😂

Plus after one internal during pregnancy where the doctor asked to borrow my phone so he could use the torch on it to see what he was doing the last scrap of my dignity flew out of the window 😂

notacooldad · 19/03/2022 17:31

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Blossom64265 · 19/03/2022 17:34

The last thing you want when going into a germ infested hospital is any possible nicks or tears in your skin, even small ones.

SpringSummerAutumnSpring · 19/03/2022 17:34

I think I had good intentions to tidy up down there before birth but DD decided to arrive 16 days early. I never got round to it. So I was in fact the ‘untidiest’ I’ve ever been when more people than ever before were taking a good look down there. It didn’t matter one bit. There really is no point.

SpringSummerAutumnSpring · 19/03/2022 17:39

Yup I did - you bleed for potentially weeks after and it’s minting cleaning that much blood out of public hair

It’s blood, not sticky strawberry jam. It’s just washes away easily with every shower or bath Confused

PerpetualStudent · 19/03/2022 17:40

‘A packet of Old Holborn down there’ made me spit my tea out Grin

SoftPillow · 19/03/2022 17:49

Nah.

First baby I carried on with normal waxing but by week 32 it was really painful and the baby seemed to kick about lots during the which was weirdly off putting.

Second time round I couldn't have cared less

notacooldad · 19/03/2022 17:55

I think there’s an assumption going on with some people that waxing ‘ down there’ is done for the benefit of the Midwives and doctors or people are doing it because they might be embarrassed about being seen being untidy. I don’t think this why people do it. I certainly couldn’t care what you think about my bits! or me it’s just part of my top to toe grooming that I do out of routine. It’s not a big deal or anything.

BigskyMontana · 19/03/2022 18:02

I’m having a C - Section in a couple of days and they keep telling me not to wax or shave for a minimum of 2 weeks before, they said it’s an infection risk. They only told me yesterday I was having an early section and It’s a right mess at the moment but I don’t dare do anything to it now xx

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 19/03/2022 18:06

I had everything off , I asked the waxing lady if it would be extra painful - she said " wait til u give birth !" Grin
I think I had it done 2 weeks before the due date but I was 10 days overdue

Franca123 · 19/03/2022 18:16

I had my legs waxed, yes. Knew it would make me feel more comfortable plus didn't know when I'd get the chance again after the births!

IsThePopeCatholic · 19/03/2022 18:35

@beattieedny

Also the idea having hair ripped out is 'pampering',. Wtf happened to us, women. A massage is pampering. Being made to look like a hairless infant is gross.
Yes. Once again, (child) porn rears its ugly head.
spurs4ever · 19/03/2022 18:44

@IsThePopeCatholic agreed - not like it's always hairless, just neat! X

LtMoose · 19/03/2022 18:45

I find it upsetting that as women this is one of our concerns during childbirth, I doubt men give much thought to waxing their genitals before medical procedures.

badalmond · 19/03/2022 19:02

I thought about trimming down there last week and then realised that at 37 weeks it was too late to do it myself.

I definitely wouldn't wax or shave because I end up with a terrible rash. I figure, perhaps selfishly, that if I end up with a C-section and the hair is a problem, the surgical team will have solved bigger problems than my pubic hair.

I don't think they care in the UK, but when having DC1 abroad the student doctor who was attending the birth asked me why I hadn't waxed in a shocked voice. Nearly 12 years later I'm still so annoyed that I was too surprised and distracted to tell her to mind her own sodding business.

boymummys · 19/03/2022 19:13

These comments 😂😂😂😂😂 when my waters broke with my first (27 hours before he arrived) on his due date so you can imagine I was quite big, I got in the bath and shaved. Not for the midwife's, not for anyone that was going to see me down there I couldn't have cared less, but for me! Because it made me feel comfortable. I can't stand wearing leggings and feeling pokey bits coming out! I shave every other day, so I don't get a rash or spots. You do you! If you like hair that's fine if you don't also fine!!

Op, if you feel more comfortable going for a wax then I would! But also I have heard if your not use to them or have them done often they can be painful, I stuck to shaving, I've never had a wax so wouldn't actually know. Currently commenting on this at 37 weeks pregnant and still shaving 🙃🙃

allthingssparkly · 19/03/2022 19:14

You do you! Whether that be having a full wax before your DD or going as a hairy mary 🤭 as long as mum and baby are safe that's all that matters 🤍

Musmerian · 19/03/2022 19:16

I find it completely bizarre that people see waxing as pampering. The patriarchy really has done a great job.

PotteringAlong · 19/03/2022 19:20

My midwife expressly told me not to (not that I would have done anyway, the idea fills me with horror) because if you wax or shave then there are the potential for a 1000 tiny cuts and that’s an infection risk.

birdglasspen · 19/03/2022 19:20

You will be emitting bodily fluids all over the place, swearing/crying/shouting/screaming like a banshee, sweating, et etc …waxed legs, who is going to care, I doubt even you will and the midwife’s certainly don’t! But then I have 3 and haven’t had a haircut, eyebrow pluck, leg wax, hair brushed for months…if I have a bath with one child in it I’m winning at life!😂

LtMoose · 19/03/2022 20:02

@musmerian agreed

mindfulmotherhood · 19/03/2022 20:28

@boymummys how did you manage with baby bump? I do totally agree with you.
