Which name would you chosse out of these two?

Elijar or Zak - for a boy obviously. Am only 10 weeks pg, so early on in the baby naming game. I like both of them, but dont know any Elijar, which I think is a bit more of an unusual name. So think I'm leaning towards that one at the moment.

Your opinions might halp me make a decision tho, so all thoughts greatfully recieved (even if you think they're awful)

i love both, alothough would go for their biblical spellings - Elijah and Zach. Personally i prefer Elijah, but they're both great

there's always elisha aswel. or you could have Zachary, Zachariah and just nickname to Zach, there's so many things you can do with biblical names, that's why all my kids have them

yes,they're nice but do spell them properly !! (not a criticism but I hate names with odd spellings !!)

i like to be different i like the name ZAK and if i have a boy hes going to be called JACK but spelt JACC OR JAK not sure which spelling any ideas i have a daughter called ABEY just the 1 (b)

Prefer Zach myself. Elijah seems a bit high and mighty for a tiny tot! Just my opinion... Do you know the Biblical stories, I would be tempted to check em out first!?

In Scotland and in a lot of places (America, Dorset..), if you spell it Elijar, you get a good strong r sound at the end, which I presume isn't what you want! It's a nice name but with the original spelling.

Abey I want to pronounce eh-bee. The double b is to make the vowel which comes before short ah rather than long eh.

Zak/Zach is nice too.

elijah (not elijar sorry) or poor child will have to spell his name all his life like me and its sooooo not fun!

Do you think that biblical stories really have any influence on the child, or that the meaning is important? (sorry to hi-jack, just intersted) am going to call this one delilah if it's a girl. cant say the story bothers me, as surely it was just someone with the name?? i also have Noah, doesn't mean he's going to build an ark, does it?

Would personally always give a "long" name, so Zachary/Isaac or something on the birth certificate, then abbreviated to Zak/Zach.

(I prefer Zak to Zach somehow, I don't know why-possibly because for us it would be short for Isaac)

Oh and because I have studied Hebrew, Zak looks more "correct" to me!

i'm sure there's a Zechariah in there somewhere aswel, dont ask me where though. Reuben in another lovely OT name (IMO)

Thing is, what would you call Elijah for short? That has always stumped me a bit.

Eli is shorh for Elijah.

My son is Elijah and he's an Eli ('ee-lie' not 'ellie!')

Zach is nice, very common though. Isaac, with Zac as a shortening, is nice.

Ah see we have an Ely round here.

People would think he'd been called after the place, a la Brooklyn Beckham. Only not so much, Ely, Cardiff is a little different to Brookly, NY.
