How old were you when you had your first and second baby?
I had my first at 29 and we are still on the fence about another.
I will be 34 this year and I worry time is running out for me 😕

My answer won't help much as it was my 20s, but my mum had us at 29, 32, 34 and 37! No complications at all. In fact she still says she never felt healthier than when she was pregnant!

20
23
29

fallhappy1 · 12/03/2022 06:32

First 21, second 22, currently pregnant with no.3 at 32.

SazCat · 12/03/2022 06:32

Almost 36 for my first and then 39 for my second (with a miscarriage in between).

Took 7 months to conceive with the first, then a year but sadly lost early on, was then pregnant again with my second DD a month after my MC.

Lostmyway86 · 12/03/2022 06:59

31 and 32

autienotnaughty · 12/03/2022 07:10

21,23 with first two. I was the youngest at play group! 37 with the third, I was the oldest at playgroup!

FHmama · 12/03/2022 07:19

I had just turned 21. I'm 23 next month
with an almost 2 year old Smile

cheapskatemum · 12/03/2022 08:13

30-31 with first
32 with second
33-34 with third
36-37 with fourth

The timing was right for me: having babies in my 30s. I felt I'd lived a young, carefree existence in my 20s and was ready for domesticity. Now they're all adults I'm still young & fit enough to pursue a career and enjoy having more time to myself. I definitely don't think 34 is too old & I know people who had a 4 years or more gap between their children and really struggled to get back into interrupted nights, then getting their older child to school.

@slapmyarseandcallmemary

37 with my 1st, 39 with my 2nd. Just had my 3rd last night at 42.
Aw, Congratulations!
GirlMama21 · 12/03/2022 11:38

1st- 33, problem free pregnancy

2nd- 35, problem free pregnancy

And then also:

3rd pregnancy at 37, singleton miscarriage

4th pregnancy a couple of months after turning 38, twin pregnancy that ended in miscarriage a few weeks ago

We really wanted a third baby to complete our family, but doesn't look like it will happen now. I know if I'd found DH (i.e. Mr Right) in my 20s I'd have preferred to start a family later 20s rather than in my 30s, but I didn't so🤷‍♀️.

Skyeheather · 12/03/2022 11:49

40

timetokill · 12/03/2022 15:19

IsabelHerna · 13/03/2022 19:06

I'm 40 and trying for the first and I actually have lots of possibilities for success. So, you're certainly not running out of time at 34!

Sleepy86 · 13/03/2022 19:46

31 with my first and I will be 36 with my second, due in September

Glittabug · 13/03/2022 20:15

2littleloves · 14/03/2022 08:15

SecondhandTable · 14/03/2022 08:27
  1. Had DC2 at 27. I'm surprised at PP who said they felt unusual with a 3yr gap, that's one of the most popular age gaps in the people I know with more than one. Older child is a bit more independent usually by 3 - toilet trained, good communication and comprehension skills, has benefited from a few years of individual attention, you get at least 15 free hrs of childcare for them, etc. Obviously pros and cons to all age gaps and not everyone has the luxury of choice but just saying it's quite a common gap for those reasons. We have closer to 3.5 yrs between ours and we were ttc for about 6 months.
Bromse · 14/03/2022 16:21

Three years age gap is a good one, Secondhand.

ErinAoife · 14/03/2022 16:26

33 for first 35 miscarriage 37 for second 43 for third

Bromse · 14/03/2022 17:45

Erin Flowers. I'm so sorry, that is very sad.

DoWhatYouLike · 14/03/2022 18:05

22 with 1st, then almost 25 with 2nd. I'm glad I had them when I was young - I'm in my 60s now

Sula225 · 14/03/2022 20:45

CSR721 · 14/03/2022 20:56
