So we didn't lose the quiz last night but we didn't beat the boys 😂

Are we thinking that I'm destined to be a huge uddered milk cow 🐮 jesssuuussss!! How big can boobs get??? Can they explode?? 😳
@Kate105 what bras did you wear after the birth then? Hope PTSD got some milk 😜could you not use the stuff in the Haakaa for one night?

I've got some some breast pads @becarefuloutthere, might need some more if my boobs are going to explode 🤪I hope you get rid of covid soon, it is tough, you are doing fab

@paintfairy I'm taking on the sloth role today 😂I don't think babies can move too much?! And yes DH & I have said this for those that just get "normal scans" it's literally 12 weeks & 20 & that's it

🤞🏻🤞🏻for your mum coming out @Franklydear & for having a lovely time in London

@InkyPaper OMG we've all been there thinking we are jinxing it. It's an awful feeling. But it's def not true. You are pregnant & it's ok. Have you got your 12 week scan through?

@bez91 argh there's always something isn't there, has there been more spotting? Probs the irritation. The dresses are just normal ones, not maternity, I just needed something looser that can go with both leggings & without leggings & put a long cardi on? I have tried loads of maternity stuff & it's all either dead tight which I have a couple, or dead loose smock style which has never suited me. I wanted something "easier" for chucking on (and non iron!)

Minster2012 · 25/03/2022 07:49

Oh and how do we identify a baby hiccuping in the womb?? I think she is, it's like a rhymic small kick movement?

Kate105 · 25/03/2022 08:57

I was told that regular movements were hiccups whereas more jerky and random movements were rolling etc @Minster2012

I also don't think you can have too much movement @paintfairy but I will warn you that PTSD was like that for me and he is a bloody nightmare never stops now he's on the outside 😂😂😂 on the other hand, never had any worries over reduced movements!

Hope you're feeling better soon @becarefuloutthere i haven't had Covid with a baby but we had a horrible dose of something else recently and it was not fun! Good luck!

Don't worry, these massive puppies had plenty left for the starving PTSD 😂🙈 he hasn't pooed in 24 hours now and I am braced for the inevitable poonami. It could be 5 mins from now, could be 5 days... love a bit of jeopardy!

Kate105 · 25/03/2022 09:00

Also happy Bridgerton day! 🥳😂

2020mission · 25/03/2022 09:02

@Minster2012 hiccups felt a bit like a pulse for me and lasted around 5-10 mins. It was quite easy to tell the difference between a normal kick because it lasts much longer and is in the same area.

InkyPaper · 25/03/2022 09:49

@larrythelizard this is true. DH likes to look up miscarriage risk stats to see how they drop by the day - he finds it very comforting but there's always a part of me going "but what if I'm in that tiny percent?!" 🙈

@becarefuloutthere that sucks, hope you feel loads better soon, covid is not fun

@Minster2012 nope, not got a scan date through yet. Mind you, on Wednesday the doctors were still processing the form for the midwives that I rang about the previous week, so I'm not holding out hope. DH was joking that at this rate I'll be in second trimester before hearing anything 😂

Omg I didn't even think about babies getting hiccups in the womb, that sounds really cute but I imagine must feel very weird!

@Kate105 oooh I forgot Bridgerton was out today!! 🙌

DKDK123 · 25/03/2022 10:10

@Minster2012 I'm reading this book just now, about half way through and actually really enjoying it as I like to know the 'why' behind things not just the do this do that rules. And it also gives examples of the differences in different babies/mums not just one size fits all which I like so I recommend it. It did mention in the book that lots of mums find their boobs do swell in size in the first week or so but this then subsides back down once your boobs get the hang of how much milk to make at a time to satisfy your baby. A lot of mums worry because their boobs have gone down in size that they're not producing enough milk but it's actually that your boobs have just settled into the right production amount for your baby. So I'd maybe get a cheap bigger bra/top for the first week or so just incase yours does get bigger but if you're investing in some decent ones then you're probably not far off the size you are now since yours have grown quite a bit already, maybe they may go up by a cup size you could wait till they settle then measure for some good comfy long term ones. Could be wrong but that's roughly what I think the book was trying to say. 🤷‍♀️

@paintfairy the 3rd trimester isn't fun, but I don't remember it being as bad with DS (even tho I had loads of other complications with him) so like all of pregnancy it's your pot luck which symptoms hit, you might get it lucky and just have the feeling fat, waddling and fed up part to third trimester 🤞
I wouldnt worry about baby moving too much it'll be that baby's getting bigger and stronger so you're more aware of the movements now, she'll have been just as active before only you wouldn't have been as aware of it. I sometimes feel like she's deciding to skip the section and kick her own way out my stomach its that strong and frequent at times 😂

Hope the spotting stopped @bez91, pregnancy is jsut one non stop worry after another isn't it 🙈

@InkyPaper if you look back on the previous bus when a lot of us where at your stage you'll see the constant worry and thinking you may have jinxed things is completely normal we all went through it. Each scan will bring scanxiety on the lead up to it then you'll get a few days reprieve from worry before finding something else to worry about 😂 It does get better once you can feel baby kick. But we're all here for the hand holding along the way.

@becarefuloutthere that's tough caring for a newborn while feeling ill yourself. Hope you manage as much rest as being a mum will allow.

larrythelizard · 25/03/2022 10:22

Sending healing vibes @becarefuloutthere - I found it really knocked me the other week.

@Minster2012 not losing is good even if you didn't beat the boys!

@InkyPaper that's always a worry, I'm getting more anxious as I approach my 20w scan even though I think logically if something bad had happened I'd know about it, but it is just a rollercoaster of anxiety!

Hope no more spotting @bez91

Ooh good reminder on Bridgerton @Kate105!

Nice start to the morning with a skivy 9am gym class, did a bit of running outside which was lovely as it's sunny. Had a nice lady I was paired with who wasn't worried about times or reps or anything so was hard work but not awful! Did wee a bit on a squat which surprised me so going to book in with a womens health physio so I can try and nip it in the bud before things get worse!

OP posts:
becarefuloutthere · 25/03/2022 10:37

You're all so sweet 🥲 thank you for the kind words of getting better soon! I feel on the mend now thankfully! It sucks as well as it scuppers plans! Missed a fun day at the park with my sister and her little boy and tomorrow we're meant to have our couple friend over to meet the baby, but she's pregnant so she prob shouldn't come even if I feel better but still testing positive. Time will tell tomorrow! Happy Friday all and yassss to happy bridgerton day, I'll start that once I get downstairs today!

bez91 · 25/03/2022 11:22

Oh no @becarefuloutthere I hope you're ok. Not ideal at all with a newborn 😢

On the boob talk and milk coming in, mine were massive at this stage with DD then even bigger when milk came up. This time my boobs have literally deflated in the third trimester 🤷‍♀️ dunno what that's about

@Minster2012 hope you had a good evening despite being on the loosing team 😆 you did say you expected to loose. It's hard because if you're anything like me you don't want to spend a fortune either on mat clothes, I've bought a few more bits this morning to get me through these last few weeks.
@larrythelizard @DKDK123 No more spotting thanks for checking in, I think it was probably more external irritation than internal so 🤞🏼

@InkyPaper definite hand hold from us all the way, the early weeks are nerve wracking!

@DKDK123 oooh yes also recommend that book! That is the one I downloaded the audio book from Audible as managed to get it free (I think I recommend it on the last thread) I also like the whys behind things which makes it all make sense more!

@larrythelizard did you have problems post birth before with your pelvic floor? I never did but then in the second tri this time I had a few of those moments - carried on with exercises and seems to be fine now, seems really hit and miss 🤷‍♀️

larrythelizard · 25/03/2022 11:39

No problems before with pelvic floor @bez91 in terms of leaking but I did have a lot of pain post birth for a long time. I didn't do exercise before though, that's a relatively new thing for me. But I wouldn't expect squats to cause problems (hideous amounts of squats)..!

DS sent home with possible slapped cheek which is not ideal as it can cause miscarriage and is most contagious before symptoms appear...too late to avoid him though so just back to anxious fingers crossed here

OP posts:
feliznavidad2 · 25/03/2022 13:24

Ahh @larrythelizard maybe ringing GP as they can check if you have antibodies to it? And if not offer closer monitoring of babe? Poor you and DS. Download that squeezy app for the ole pelvic floor (I am shit and literally swipe the reminders on my phone to do my exercises 🙈)

Get well soon @becarefuloutthere Thanks

Catching up on things quick whilst eating solo again at work - I'm out of close contact land from Tuesday so hopefully will stay well.

paintfairy · 25/03/2022 13:49

I have a stupid question. 🤣 So - I plan to BF. However I thought I'd get some bottles just in case that doesn't go to plan. Plus if I pump milk then also bottles might be useful. My question is- if I end up needing them for pumped milk, does the bottle brand need to match the breast pump you buy? Therefore I could buy some bottles, then find I'll need a pump later, but realise that the pump won't work with whatever brand of bottles I already bought? 🤔 Why is this so complicated! 🤣 Obviously I wouldn't buy an expensive pump until I definitely knew i needed one. 🤷‍♀️

@Minster2012 no idea on the hiccuping, I did wonder that when I read it happened! I'm a permanent sloth. But DH is ill and I'm wondering if I am getting that!
@DKDK123 book looks useful! Yeah I guess your body must regulate, but in the beginning it seems all unknown, as no one seems to tell you anything. I'll look forwards to my baby booting its way out. 🤣 I dread to think how the fat waddling stage will be. I'm struggling now! Such an effort. 😫
@becarefuloutthere I'm glad you are feeling a little better! It is annoying being ill. 🤬
@InkyPaper yeah I think the jinxing it is a thing. Anything I've bought is at mums (don't want bad luck) and I I really even started telling people last week! Of course they are like, due when?! What? 😱🤣
@bez91 @larrythelizard I am struggling with my pelvic floor already! Need to locate the exercises..... 🙄

Juno231 · 25/03/2022 14:26

@paintfairy yes and no - yes the pumps require specific bottles but they also come with the pump usually? Then there's nothing stopping you from decanting it into a preferred bottle if your baby has a preference. Eg the Medela pump would come with 4 bottles and the mam manual pump comes with a mam bottle.

@larrythelizard oh no on the wee! Hope you were wearing dark leggings...

@Franklydear show us pics from your weekend!

Still super busy at work right now so not overly much to report. Spent the long weekend for a last visit to the parents before baby gets here. Had another cervix scan on Thursday and it's still 34mm so that's good. Feeling baby party in my tummy most days now too which is lovely!

bez91 · 25/03/2022 14:37

@larrythelizard yeah maybe mention to your midwife I'm sure they'll refer you! Oh no. Didn't know that about slapped cheek. I know a lot of people have immunity to parvoviruses so I'm sure you'll be ok, it's one of the extra blood tests they did on me at 28 weeks to look into the excess amniotic fluid. Like @feliznavidad2 said, might be on your health record so worth asking the GP

Like @Juno231 said @paintfairy the pumps will come with a suitable collecting 'bottle' but you can decant elsewhere. I have the medela it's a good 5 years old but it didn't come with the tops for the bottles (teats) so maybe the newer versions do otherwise you'll have to buy them separately.

@Juno231 I wondered where you'd jetted off to, hope you had a good time. Will your parents come over when baby arrives? I'm quite enjoying the excuse now that we can't possibly travel anywhere to see anyone 🙈

Franklydear · 25/03/2022 15:52

Mum is back at home, still poorly but no need to be in hospital, thank you all, @Juno231 promise, some might even have me in it😳

larrythelizard · 25/03/2022 15:53

I don't think they will unless I develop symptoms @bez91 @feliznavidad2 - DS definitely had it last year and I wasn't I'll then so am assuming (hoping?) immunity - and also not convinced he has it this time.

Yes dark leggings @Juno231 - pleased to hear your cervix is behaving and you had a nice weekend with your parents!

@paintfairy it might be stuff they cover at antenatal classes so I wouldn't panic too much just yet.

At the park with DS, I am not very hopeful we'll ever get home, he's having a lovely time and there's a sandpit here shudder

Minster2012 · 25/03/2022 16:18

Catching up & interested to hear if PTSD's poonami has arrived @Kate105?

Brigerton you say oooooo

@2020mission they were def hiccups then, the first ones I've felt! Mind you k had horrendous heartburn last night, wonder if it's linked 🤔

Ahh yes @InkyPaper I forgot the paperwork gad only just sent, so no booking in appointment then I guess.

Awww @Juno231 I'm pleased you had a nice time with your parents (tick that one off for now) and can feel her more, it's proper exciting when it kicks and great news on a behaving cervix! 🥳

@larrythelizard oh god on the slapped cheek, add it to the list of worries, think DH needs to be on DS duty this weekend just in case (plus Mother's Day n all?) at least it's glorious weather to be sat in a playground

@DKDK123 I think if I'm prepared for boobs to swell then that's prob best. Last night my friend just kept saying to me "god your boobs are MASSIVE!" I was like er yeah nowt like making me self conscious! My boobs have not deflated @bez91 😂 I'm unsure they ever will 😳

@bez91 that's it I don't want to spend a lot as I might not wear them after but I think I've found a fair few good bits that will see me past birth too.

@becarefuloutthere get better soon!

How many pjs do we think need to be in a hospital bag? I now have 2 sets of button up pjs so wondering if one should stay at home or not?

It's my weekend off this weekend. DH & DS leaving when they get back & it's me & the dogs til Sunday afternoon. Everyone I tell that too says "god I'm jealous" and I will genuinely do not a lot if I want to, but making my own nice breakfast on Mother's Day is a bit sad I guess ☹️I will miss him bouncing into us in the morning (the fully wanted to go back to sleep this morning so I can't have it both ways!)

Kate105 · 25/03/2022 18:58

Well I am smug because I defeated the poonami and caught all of it in the potty, top earth mother points to me!

Entirely negated by me taking PTSD with me to get in the washing, plonking him on a garden chair and watching him roll off and smack into the gravel head first. 🤦🏼‍♀️ he seems absolutely fine, tiny egg on the side of his head but not fussed after the initial shock scream. However my guilt levels are THROUGH THE ROOF.

Minster2012 · 25/03/2022 19:28

Ooooo well played on the 💩mother Earth @Kate105, less so well played on the rolling off...HOWEVER if it makes you feel better then DS has had 2 such incidents of rolling off things including one exactly 3 years ago at the weekend DH has just gone to with him where we had him laid on the top of the dog crate, taking him out of snow suit, both DH & I with him, both assumed the other had a hand on top of him. Neither did, cue rolling onto floor faceplant. In full view of BIL who winced as we were so shocked we cried. The fact a similar incident happened again, but just me a month or so before is prob NOT going to make you feel better that I'm trusting myself to look after another baby. However, DS very much survived the trauma & hasn't mentioned it yet to social services so think we are safe 😬

InkyPaper · 25/03/2022 20:38

@DKDK123 this is true! It's actually quite comforting to know it's not just me that thinks like this. Definitely appreciate the hand hold ❤️

@larrythelizard the anxiety is real!! Keeping fingers crossed you avoid the germs 🤞🏻

@becarefuloutthere glad you're feeling a little better today

@bez91 thanks for the handhold ❤️

@Juno231 hope you had a great time with your parents!

@Franklydear glad your mum has been allowed home, hope she continues to improve

@Minster2012 what time will DS & DH be back on Sunday? Could they maybe make you a Mother's Day brunch instead??

@Kate105 genuinely impressed at how you managed to catch the poonami!

Minster2012 · 25/03/2022 20:45

@InkyPaper I will be very h'angry by that time! They are leaving at around 2pm so back about 3.30pm

A night in with brigerton & fillet steak...no blow job on the cards here though 😂loving spotting little things in the programme, I'm not sure I have childbirthing hips & really loving the classical version of "material girl" it's fab!

Kate105 · 26/03/2022 07:46

Well PTSD seems no worse off from his trauma 😂🙈 very excited about today! Off to a wedding and H is in charge of PTSD for the first time all afternoon all by himself... he has no idea what is about to hit him!

larrythelizard · 26/03/2022 08:29

Aww @Minster2012 I'm sure you'll miss DS in the morning but at least you won't have to deal with the clock change!

Ah these things happen @Kate105 - egg poking out is fine! Enjoy the wedding and good luck to mr @Kate105 (haha!)

DS not rashy today so I don't think he has slapped cheek but instead he's thrown up twice, he came and got me instead of being sick in his bed which is a win!
