There's boys names:

Keelan
Cáolán

I guess it depends if you want to pronounce it Keelan or Kaylon

Misdee · 05/01/2008 00:27

kailon, for some strange reason reminds me of calogen, which is a high-calorie build up medicine. or as peter called, it fattyglopp.

Lmccrean · 05/01/2008 00:29

havent read whoe thread, but my cousins name is Caelan (another irish spelling) and I love it

Misdee · 05/01/2008 00:34

'Kailon Fireaxe
Kailon was a character of one of the players in my roleplaying game. He was a dwarven cleric who discovered a magical axe called Trollbane.'

i found that if its any help?

Flllightattendant · 05/01/2008 06:43

RDK, I have just read this thread and I am so sorry you took a bashing. There is a running joke on MN about names very similar to the one you have chosen, which is why everyone laughed at it, it isn't fair on you and I hope you aren't too upset.

It seems that firstly it is a real name already, possibly West Indian or Irish, nothing wrong with that.

It isn't a name I would choose myself as I know lots and lots of children called Kayden and similar, and it seems to be very fashionable and I am an inverted snob and don't like to use anything that sounds fashionable! But if you do, then go for it as you should always give your child a name that you love, no matter what anyone else thinks.

Mine have unusual names but I love them, so I have a feeling they will not have too much trouble as they will have the confidence to carry them off iyswim.

It is nice that you have found something you like for your little boy

Try to ignore the silly comments, everyone is just laughing at the in joke, not really at you though it must feel like it.

Flllightattendant · 05/01/2008 06:45

Oh and Kai is lovely, I think it is nicer, but is also very trendy at the moment.

Flllightattendant · 05/01/2008 06:45

Misdee I cannot help laughing at that

Misdee · 05/01/2008 12:57

mummylittle · 05/01/2008 13:18

My nephew is Calin

FrannyandZooey · 05/01/2008 16:12

I met a boy called Cailin (not sure of spelling but pronounced Kay-lin) today

I quite liked it

I didn't think of Kaolin or whatever until it was mentioned earlier

Wisteria · 05/01/2008 16:17

My friend in Wales called his son Cai/ Cae (sp?) which is welsh for grass (pr Ki), I liked that.

I don't think it's fair to get cross at people pointing out the bullying aspects, more valuable IMHO; we had a girl called Cath Hunt and I bet she wishes her parents had asked people what they thought first ....

SoupDragon · 05/01/2008 16:17

Caelon is an alternative spelling of Caelan, meaning (apparently) "powerful in battle".

Flllightattendant · 05/01/2008 17:42

Marcie and Marcia are lovely. you could pronounce it Mar-see-a or Mar-sha iyswim.

QuintessentialShadow · 05/01/2008 17:45

Oh, rdk are you star trek fans? The Keylon empire was ruthless!

My son is Kai. It means Pier in Norwegian, uncooked fruit in Malayam, ocean in Hawaiian and willow tree in native indian!

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/01/2008 18:09

Caelen is nice - there was a boy at ds's school called that - also a boy in our road is called Kester

rdk · 05/01/2008 18:47

well as i said earlier all i wanted was to see if anyone had and ideas on how else i could possibly spell it not opinions, but i bet a lot of you have children with boring names like

jack
ryan
andrew
james etc

now thats what you called boring

JodieG1 · 05/01/2008 18:52

RDK why insult a whole host of other names? You are doing exactly what you're complaining about others doing, how ironic.
