3rd baby coming, terrified!

Hey everyone,

So I’m very early on in a very unexpected pregnancy and I am quite frankly crapping myself. I have two daughters who are 4 and 1.5. We are currently living with my parents while we save for a deposit and it’s going to push us back a bit which means us living here longer, which is fine but not ideal. I have days where I’m losing my mind with my two and I really can’t imagine having a third. I know I’ll love the baby but I’m just so, so scared.

Can any mums of 3 tell me it’s gonna be okay?

Thank you xx

It'll be more than ok, it'll be wonderful!

A third child brings a whole new dynamic to the one on one only two siblings have. My three couldn't be closer. Enjoy every second.

Thank you so much @Nelliephant1 ♥️

Just had baby number 3! So I'm new to the having 3 kids game.
My kids are 3,1 and 5 weeks so I have 3 under 4.
It's crazy and busy but I wouldn't change it and the older 2 are absolutely adorable with the baby and it's so so lovely to see.
So far although I'm tired,I'm loving it.
We did have to get a bigger car though!

Isonthecase · 28/02/2022 20:49

Hopefully, we're in the same situation (eldest just turned 5). All I kept saying to myself was please don't be twins 🤣 coming round to it now.

peonies1988 · 28/02/2022 20:50

Aw thanks so much @stopusingmyusernames and congratulations! I hope you’re doing okay. I know how hard those first weeks can be. If you don’t mind me asking, what car did you opt for? We’ve been looking at ones we can get three Isofixes in and there aren’t too many options xxx

Omg @Isonthecase so good to speak to someone whose going through it too. You know, I had a really strong positive 7 days before I was due and I’ve frightened myself about twins too - husband and I both have them in our families 😭

Congratulations 🥳 xxx

Following 😊
I'm due no3 today, I have 2 boys who are 2&3... also very nervous and a bit terrified

Climbingthelaundrymountain · 28/02/2022 21:00

We've got 3 and it's great. You'll be fine.

Isonthecase · 28/02/2022 21:00

@peonies1988 it's fine, I've been veering between 'my goodness what have I let myself in for' and 'it'll be fiiiinnneee.' Quite relieved to have not made the decision to try for one though, that would have been a step too far for me!

You should be ok, twins are pretty unlikely. I'd have been less worried if I didn't know someone who'd had it happen to them 😂

peonies1988 · 28/02/2022 21:03

Omg @feb2022 good luck and congratulations! You’ll have to keep us posted xxx

I’m expecting no 3 and we’ve gone for a Ford S-max which fits 3 car seats in a row and isofix on all 3 seats

peonies1988 · 28/02/2022 21:05

@Isonthecase oh my goodness, I can’t even imagine 😐

I have three children 5 years, 3 years and 3 months. Having three is really lovely and imo better than having 2. When I had my second baby I felt like I was ignoring my first, but with three your first has your second and vice versa and it's actually been easier. 5 and 3 year old play loads together and have a great time. The baby is slotting in well, they both adore him.

peonies1988 · 28/02/2022 21:06

Aw thank you @Hadenough21 we’ve been looking at the s-max, thanks so much for the recommendation. Hope all going well with your pregnancy xxx

Aw @Violet1988 thank you so much for sharing with me, that honestly helps so much. Yeah I did think about that, how it changes the dynamic from one vs one to a little gang. Congratulations on your little one ♥️

Car wise we went for a Peugeot Partner van. It doesn't have three isofix though. For three isofix you could consider a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso, Peugeot 5008, Volkswagen Sharan, Seat Alhambra etc x

Violet1988 · 28/02/2022 21:10

Oh yeah SMax or a ford galaxy too!

peonies1988 · 28/02/2022 21:10

Thanks @Violet1988, are you happy with the Peugeot? We’ve also been looking at the VW Touran xx

Violet1988 · 28/02/2022 21:15

I had dogs before kids so used to have a Peugeot Partner van years ago and have always liked them! We test drove a touran when looking for our new car and couldn't fit all the seats in it. The Sharan would be a better size if you want a VW. Although one or two of our seats I suppose are quite bulky. Definitely take all seats and try them out in some different cars. We also test drive a Kia Caren's and seats didn't fit in that either x

De88 · 28/02/2022 21:15

3 is wonderful, as above more relationships to manage but don't forget your older two will soon be helping out with fetching things etc. Wouldn't change it- (though would love a 4th!)
We've got a VW Touran, don't have 3 isofixes but they would fit fine with room for a double buggy. You learn to pack quick and pack light!

Violet1988 · 28/02/2022 21:19

I also found that quite a lot of the 7 seaters we were looking at were automatics too, and personally I prefer manuals. The Partner van (same as a Citroen Berlingo) is also smaller than the likes of the Sharan/Alhambra/Galaxy etc. Versatile space inside but easier to park etc. It will also be my work car and I need to be able to park it easily on terraced streets when I'm visiting clients so I didn't want a massive thing!

CatsandDogs22 · 28/02/2022 21:21

You will be more than ok. 3 is an excellent number. Our kids always have someone to play with even when 1 is not in the mood.

Will it be hard sometimes? Yes. Will it give you some financial set backs? Yes. Can you do it? Yes you can. Will you regret it? Never. Congratulations

Beachsidesunset · 28/02/2022 21:22

We liked having 3 so much we're expecting our fourth! They'll be 7, 5, 3 and newborn. Crazy, happy times. We have a Ford Galaxy 7 seater, so will fit everyone in. Congratulations to you!

stopusingmyusernames · 28/02/2022 21:35

@peonies1988 we got a Volvo xc90 l,it's a 7 seater but the back 2 fold down.
It fits all 3 car seats in the back and has more seat space behind that (not that we're having any more!) so we just use it as a really big boot space.
