Does anyone know if the whooping cough vaccine given earlier in pregnancy included tetanus?

I know it included something other than whooping but I can't remember what. And of course a dog has bitten me on the finger (it's not bad), so now I don't know what to do. I had the whooping at 16 weeks but it's not showing on my NHS App (says they're encountering problems on the immunisation list...). Im sure the nurse said it included tetanus but I'm doubting myself now.

If I wasn't pregnant I wouldn't be bothered, but the worry for my little boy is stressing me out even though it's really not bad at all lol.

I'm on hold to 111 anyway but hoping the MN sphere will hold some reassurance and advice in the meantime!

NamelessBaby1 · 02/04/2022 19:05

@KizboBaggins yes it's the 4 in 1 vaccine we get : www.medicines.org.uk/emc/PIL.28676.latest.pdf , which includes tetanus, polio and diphtheria too :)

KizboBaggins · 02/04/2022 19:10

@NamelessBaby1 amazing thank you! I'm still going to wait for 111 to tell me it's ok to just leave it though lol

CaptainCarp · 02/04/2022 19:44

@SamanthaVimes @Purple1181
OK so i just started counting up the short sleeve babygros/bodysuits & i gave up after i got to 20 definitely no buying more of them for 0-3! 😂
Most have been given to me 2nd hand (although a few still with tags!) so it's not so bad if they don't get used. I'll pass on / donate if still in good enough condition.
I've got about 7 sleepsuits in the same size as well all but 1 given to me!

Newborn/upto 1 month I've not got much but got a few short sleeve, a couple of long sleeve bodysuits & a full sleep suit so enough to "start off" i think.
I've got extra growth scans at 32 & 36 weeks so was hoping to have some indication of size but it sounds like that might not mean a lot!

@CaptainCarp I had a growth scan at 38 weeks. DD came out about half a pound lighter so not very accurate for me!

kiwi17 · 02/04/2022 19:51

@KizboBaggins yes it definitely does - I had mine on Wednesday and she said it was diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough

feliznavidad2 · 02/04/2022 20:42

You may well need antibiotics @KizboBaggins as animal bites are often very germy. Hope 111 sort you out.

KizboBaggins · 02/04/2022 20:52

@feliznavidad2 yeah they've booked me an appt at the hospital for 9.30pm, definitely better safe than sorry!

feliznavidad2 · 02/04/2022 20:57

Totally! Hope you're seen quickly. @KizboBaggins

KizboBaggins · 02/04/2022 21:30

@CaptainCarp see I thought I had too many with 7 or 8 sleepsuits and maybe 10 babygro/vests... I now feel thoroughly under prepared!

Seems like a good excuse to bargain hunt on Vinted whilst I'm waiting in the hospital!

CaptainCarp · 02/04/2022 21:40

@KizboBaggins hope you're not in the hospital too long & they sort it.
I'd brought a few disney/toy story body suits but my 1 friend brought a load of stuff from her now toddlers & all but 1 of the sleepsuits are from her & most of the short sleeved body suits!
I've also got plenty of scratch mitts & hats form her. The worst (best?) this was maximum half of what she had as she'd already passed a load on to a friend of ours last year!

I started washing everything I brought last week to put away and I have waaaayyy too many clothes I think 🙈 its all 0-3 months. I'll be having growth scans from every 4 weeks from 28 weeks. There's even one scheduled for 2 days before my due date so I hope to have a vague idea of his birth weight. Something about my placenta at the 20 week scan was high so they were concerned about how it would affect his size but the sonographer said he was measuring in the 97th percentile and said he's a big baby so i have a feeling he'll be alright in 0-3 tbh

SamanthaVimes · 03/04/2022 12:47

I think it’s better to have too big than loads of small stuff. DD definitely wore some 0-3 stuff before she fit it properly.

Did she care it was a bit big? No, just something new to throw up on Grin

CaptainCarp · 04/04/2022 14:51

Just been told my Glucose test result was high, got to have an extra scan & clinics.
Naively thought I was OK because I didn't have diabetes symptoms. Obviously just read on the NHS website this can be the case & then read the issues caused by it & I really shouldn't have done that Sad

Got to wean my fat self of the chocolate & cake!

UncomfortableBadger · 04/04/2022 15:10

Sympathies @CaptainCarp - I have my glucose test next week Sad

SamanthaVimes · 04/04/2022 15:19

@CaptainCarp oh no, that’s really rubbish! Did they tell you how you need to eat to manage it?

strawberrysummer19 · 04/04/2022 16:04

Is canestan cream safe in pregnancy? I think I have thrush 😞😞😞😞

NamelessBaby1 · 04/04/2022 16:20

Oh no @CaptainCarp, how rubbish! I have my test next week too and really dreading it - been eating way too much chocolate and ice cream recently just in case I'm not allowed it for the next 3 months which I'm sure won't help matters at all!

CaptainCarp · 04/04/2022 16:29

@UncomfortableBadger @SamanthaVimes @NamelessBaby1 I had my test last week & just had a call from the antenatal unit at the hospital. They thought my midwife had already spoken to me about my result so that was a bit awkward! The diabetes team at the clinic will go through diet.

Fingers crossed those of you still to be tested don't have it.

I've been craving chocolate/biscuits at times so probably eaten more than I should have really!

@strawberrysummer19 oo there is so much stuff you shouldn't take. Can you get to a pharmacy to ask?

OP posts:
strawberrysummer19 · 04/04/2022 16:31

@CaptainCarp I thought that, I googled it and some sites said ok some said to check so my fiancé is currently in Tesco's asking the pharmacy!!

When I get thrush it's so bad so I'm just hoping it isn't going to get bad as normally it takes a good few to work but I normally use the pessaries 😬

I know it's common so thought maybe someone might have had it x

annie1994 · 04/04/2022 17:36

@strawberrysummer19 I had thrush a few weeks ago and asked my midwife if I can have canestan. She said you can use the pessary or internal cream. But she advised not to take the oral tablet. Hope this helps! But of course ask a pharmacist if you want to make sure!

strawberrysummer19 · 04/04/2022 17:39

@annie1994 that's helpful thank you, the pharmacist said the cream is fine but see GP if it gets any worse.
That's good you can use the pessary as I suppose it's not going anywhere near baby

I just hope it settles as I normally get it very bad x

CaptainCarp · 04/04/2022 18:22

@strawberrysummer19 glad you can use the canesten treatments & hope it doesn't get to bad.

I've not suffered with thrush before & googling doesn't always help especially as the aspirin I take every day (as prescribed by the consultant) tells me not to take when pregnant! 🤦‍♀️

paintfairy · 04/04/2022 18:38

@CaptainCarp I've eaten loads of sweet stuff. 🙈 I'm not sure if they are even doing the test though with me.
@strawberrysummer19 I had it slightly last week and just used the cream. I think pregnancy causes it to be honest.

strawberrysummer19 · 04/04/2022 18:57

@paintfairy yeah I've heard pregnancy can cause it, I'm surprised I haven't had it so far x
