I think its a lovley name, sod your parents it's not thier son, you should name your baby what ever you and your partner want to. I would say to your parents that you are offended by thier jabs and would they please stop it.

Lauriefairycake · 28/12/2007 18:39

Sebastian George are lovely names - honest

Your dad is a

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 28/12/2007 18:40

Both names are great! Your baby so I think your choice.

MEMO to everyone - don't tell baby names before baby is here. No opinions then (hopefully)

BrieVinDeAlkaSeltzer · 28/12/2007 18:41

Ignore them.

End of.

I am too poorly to go into chapter and verse on why you should.

Besides Emkana's wonderful son is Sebastian and he is going to be a heart breaker.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 28/12/2007 18:41

sounds lovely to me

do they have a problem with your other children's names?

on another matter, I had been looking for you, does your dh still work for CEVA?

i have an S and g is a family name.
Sebastian Peach is delectable

fryalot · 28/12/2007 18:43

I think that not only are they fine names, but they are totally in keeping with your other sons' names.

Is your dad getting worried that you are not going to name a son after him?

ArtiChokesOnTheWishbone · 28/12/2007 18:44

I love both names. When I was pregnant with DD we considered Sebastian. Most people I tried it out on liked it but two colleagues thought it was poncey and pretentious and tantamount to calling a girl Tallulah (a name I also like btw - maybe I am poncey and pretentious [grin).

boHOHOhemianbint · 28/12/2007 18:44

How rude, I think they're lovely names and it's your child!

We didn't tell anyone any name ideas after being 8wks pregnant, it was just too annoying.

They'll have to get used to it. My ILs had barely concealed contempt for three out of my four names. It's a bit hurtful at first and makes you question your judgement, but you have to go with your heart as they're your kids.

Ask your ILs what their favourite names are. Then the chances are you'll feel more convinced than ever that they must be ignored and that your paths don't actually meet on this issue.

Nice name btw.

Magrat · 28/12/2007 18:46

repeat after me

fark orf it's our baby, you had your chance to name children, this is ours

repeat ad nauseum

Hekate · 28/12/2007 18:46

I like them both.

Ignore your parents.

Better still, tell them that when you want their opinion, you'll give it to them.

ArtiChokesOnTheWishbone · 28/12/2007 18:46

i like tallulah because of Bugsy Mallone.

There is often a fine line between pretentious and chavtastic.

Hulababy · 28/12/2007 18:49

Sebastian George is a nice name. You parents are being unreasonable and unfair to you.

MrsCarrot · 28/12/2007 18:50

sebastian is one of my dc's middle names and we nearly had it as a first. It's a lovely name, though I'm biased.

Sebastian is a gorgeous name and George is my dad's name. So just ignore, ignore, ignore! Or tell them politely to keep their opinions to themselves.

belcantavinissima · 28/12/2007 18:50

i thin its lovely, tasteful not too look-at-me-being-crazy-calling-our-child-a-completely-made-up-name. it sounds strong and sensitive. sod parents, its not really any of their business is it

LaDiDancesroundtheXmastree · 28/12/2007 18:51

I agree with Squonk, Sebastian George goes really nicely with your other dc's names. My only concern is that two of your dc will have exactly the same initials so post might be a bit tricky in your house.

Other than that tell your parents to get their noses out.

Izzybel · 28/12/2007 18:53

Ignore them. If you listen to them and name him something different, you'll regret not choosing the name that you loved. All the way through my pregnancy, my mum kept saying that she wasn't too keen on the name that I had chosen for my dd (Isabel)and kept suggesting other names to me, even though I had told her that we wanted Isabel. Now that my DD is here the name has grown on her, your name will on your parents. She sometimes calls her "Isabel neccessary on a bicycle" though, which does get on my nerves a bit. He will be your son so your dad should stop making jokes and leave it alone!

ernest · 28/12/2007 19:18

what sort of hilarious witty comments is your dad making?? Do share. I can't think of anything so bad about either of them? George is a lovely name. Really, was holding my breath when read title, cos it's often a cue for really hideous name, but it def. isn't. Agree with initial problem tho. We're ruling out names begining with same initial. I had so many hassles with this, (share same name as mum) and dh still has problems and he only shares 1 initial with his dad

mummy2aaron · 28/12/2007 19:21

phew thats gone quick - lovely choice of names in my opinion.

CrushWithEyeliner · 28/12/2007 19:21

beautiful, Sebastian Peach - it sounds like something from a F Scott Fitzgerald novel.

Am I the only one who shudders at the connotations of Lola and Tallulah?
